Very convenient location”

Good Price Good location Friendly staff

For those who want to experience the traditional Japanese style home stay and with limited budget, Yululu would be the best choice. The bed and whole setting is comfy and cozy. The staff are very friendly. But the only limited is that it is not noise proof at night. Also, it has the best location, located at the city center, lots of coffee shops, gallery and boutiques around, only 5 minutes walk from the nearby subway and 15 minutes walk to Kiyamachi (night pub street). Will definitely choose here again when come to Kyoto.

Amazing place to stay, I have such a wonderful experience chatting with the girls from Taiwan which having the period of working holiday currently. Good location”

This was my first time in Kyoto - there for Gion Matsuri. Yululu is a basic guest house and was easy to find. Room had five (I think) cubicles with tatami and futon only. Very small but close to all I wanted to see and do. In a very traditional neibourhood (old style houses all around) but many little shops and also close to main shopping center. While it was very basic, I quite enjoyed it.

Great location, kind staff, and friendly atmosphere. I recommend for budget travelers and backpackers - no room or privacy for families. It really feels like staying in someone’s (Japanese) house, so there’s little space but lots of charm!

Tiny room with comfort”

Cheap, good location, good wifi

We stayed in a double room which was very tiny. The futon for two people fitted the width of the room. However, it's a very comfortable futon. It was just like staying in a traditional Japanese house. There were only 1 shower room with a bath and 2 toilets for all but that didn't cause us any problem because each person had a different schedule. There was a kitchen where we could use. Quests could make tea and coffee from freshly grounded coffee beans any time. The staff was friendly. The location was good. We could explore the old Kyoto on foot.

the hostel is very small, every single space is fully utilized. I have difficulty to find a space to sit at leaving room since there always someone sitting on there. that place only fit 3 persons maximum. Staff is very friendly and helpful. the room is small but enough to put my stuff and sleep. in summary, it is good experience to stay in a Japanese house

Great Lighting ”

Lighting, Location, Staff

The price was a bit much but the lighting in the room was what sold us on the place. Pretty good location even though the directions weren't very clear. Walking distance to Gion and it was a good walk to get there. Nearby shops and plenty of restaurants in the area. The shower business was a bit tricky because the whole house had to share one shower and only 2 bathrooms.

Excellent experience!”

Location, ambience, price.

Great for a short stay over a night or two. The experience of staying in a tatami-flooring room at this price is not easily available, but it's not for the fussy. My wife and I enjoyed the experience despite being a little apprehensive at first. Once we got to explore the area, we realised the location was really good. Family Mart was just 2 mins down the street, Nishiki Food Street just 5 mins further. The owner spoke fairly good English and we didn't have any communication issues at all.

For the chilled traveller”

Cute Interior, really friendly and accommodating staff

I arrived very late in the night and was surprised they let me stay without having given them any notice, but I was very grateful. The staff were humble and caring as they guided me through the guesthouse. The interior was very charming and not fussy at all. It was simple, clean and homely. I didn't really get to speak to many people as I only stayed for one night, checking in late and departing early, but the atmosphere was really warm and the interior had an earthy, uncommercial feel to it. It was chill and calm and I couldn't help but I feel relaxed. The interior and music selection in the social and reception area all added to the open feel and calmness. I would definitely return and regret not being able to stay longer. A great break for a backpacker that's always on the move.
