The best guesthouse we have ever stayed.
A splendid comfortable Japanese style stay! No words can describe how much we enjoyed the stay. Niko-san was very accommodating, spent time to explain to us the facilities and recommended places of and restaurants around the area. Oh, travelling in the complementary bicycle does help too! He also went extra mile. In helping us to book our bus back to Tokyo. Thank you for the wonderful stay :)

Strongly recommended
This is my second visit to Hotorinite. The host was very kind and very helpful. I felt like staying at my own place. The room was very clean and well-maintained. Here I love the living room where I can enjoy reading books and drinking tea. I also love the bonsai room in the house. The host provides bicycles for guests free of charge so guests could cycled around the Yamanaka lake. The place is closed to convenience store and big supermarket and other interesting places. I also walked for a few minutes to enjoy a famous onsen in the area. If you would like to find a quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay in Yamanaka lake area, Hotorinite is definitely a great choice.

Babymoon that was as good as a honeymoon
Naoki-San was a great host in this beautiful and classical Japanese inn which belonged to his grandfather and stands proudly even though it's 70 years old. The inn was peaceful, serene and so Zen with so much to explore in its different corners that my wife and I didn't want to leave. We will be back for sure next with our baby in tow. It will be a wonderful experience I'm sure for kids and for families and even couples. The bicycle tracks around were very scenic and calming. You can explore just the lake Yamanakako itself for days and find a new moment or cafe to discover easily. Amazing discovery! We'll be back!

Charming guesthouse with exceptional hospitality
The place is a five minute walk from the long distance bus station. When we first walked into the parking area, the sight of a very charming corridor with Japanese sliding doors drew an immediate WOW! :-) When we checked in, the owner Naoki is very friendly. He has good command of English, and took a good chuck of time to walk us through the shared facilities, explained how each of the shared facilities can be utilized, and what hours are reserved for cleanup. As a reminder, there is a guest guide with pictures to list the information explained by the owner, including how to set up the tatami. He also took time to highlight the supermarket, good restaurants and attractions in the surrounding area, and the best location to view Mount Fuji. There is also a guide with a lot of bus information, both local and long distance ones. Even though the place has been around for a long time, it is kept in very good condition and very clean. You can really appreciate the owner's hospitality from things such as the shared coffee machine (with minimal charge), tea bags, a lot of available cups, utensils, hot and cold water, few massage chairs, a big bonsai space, and big reading area with tons of books (mainly in Japanese). We stayed for two nights, spent quite a bit of time biking in the area, appreciate the scenery, trying out the restaurants, had a very relaxing and very enjoyable time. Highly recommended guesthouse with exceptional good value.

Exceptional
Great traditional Japanese style house. Very nice stay there, landlord Naoki is great, showing us the house and facilities, also recommend the cycling routes and where to eat. We tried the ramen in Reel Cafe, really good. We'll come back, thanks again for hosting us.

Lovely Japanese family run guest house
In terms of atmosphere, attention to detail, hospitality, friendliness and quality of local information received, this guest house totally stood out for me. Morning tea in the bonsai viewing room - do I need to say more? Oh yes, free rental bikes, even after you have checked out! I would totally come back and build a weeklong vacation around staying at this place and visiting nearby Beni Fuji onsen, to which Naoko offers discounted tickets. Thank you!

Amazing traditional
The owner is very friendly and nice! He gave us a very detailed introduction of his guesthouse in fluent English when we arrived there. The environment, equipment, atmosphere there were pretty amazing! We love this guesthouse, Hotorinite, and will choose it again when we visit Yamanakako in the future!

Superb!
Host: Naoki and his wife, Sato are the best host we have ever met. Both of them are very kind, helpful and pleasant. It was drizzling lightly when we checked-out and Naoki was kind enough to give us umbrellas for free. This lovely couple is definitely the best host ever! Owh, and their son, Kira-chan is super cute and adorable too. Location: This guesthouse is a perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy nature at its best. Lake Yamanaka is just around the corner and if the weather is on your side, you will be able to take amazing photo of Fuji-san here. Bikes are also available for free. The easiest way to get here is by bus, either from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station. Cleanliness: Our room was very clean and comfy. Both toilets and shower are very clean as well. Overall: We would highly recommend staying at this guesthouse. Great host, beautiful and clean house, amazing bonsai room, free bikes to get around the area and many more. Definitely worth every penny!
