Unbelievably unkind if not cruel”
The place is not as neat like the photo, bad location(1000yen round way trip to central area with nothing to see around) and above all, unbelievably unkind if not inhumane hosts. Me and my old mother arrived at the guesthouse slightly over 12 o'clock for there was some accident on the way there. The light was all off and we had to knock the door to call the sleeping host. First one of the guest came out for we waked him up then he called the host. The host looked furious and sternly said "Your reservation is cancelled because you're late", "you cannot sleep here today cuz youre gonna wake the other guests", "any kind of accidents are your mistake not ours." I begged for mercy that we didnt have anywhere else to sleep and we had to sleep on the street, we wont make any noise not even wash ourselves. He said "of course not!" We begged more, that we didnt need a bed but just indoor space. He let us sleep in the lobby without any bedding whatsoever. I was okay for the inconvenience and the impertinence of the host, except it was my first trip with my mum and i was really sorry for her. I barely slept and work up at 6 to find the other guests coming out from the room. I went upstairs to search our bed while i didnt have to wake the people up since it was bright and all were deep asleep. i made the bed by myself and brought up my mum. At 7 the wife of the host woke me up and ordered me to come downstairs. My mum was embarassed and i went downstairs by myself, finding the host screaming, "why did you go upstairs, i told you your reservation was cancelled", "you didnt even check-in", "i cant believe your behaviours", and more humiliating words. The guests were right in front, in the lobby(where we were sleeping earlier) and the wife of the host told me to "apologize to the dear guests because they were unable to sleep because of you last night." I apologized in honorific Japanese and she told me to "apologize on the floor in Japanese style." I ignored her and told the hos

Absolutely lovely and traditional inn”
I totally enjoyed my one night stay in guesthouse mado. Its an old wooden house with lovely interior and very warm owners. I can highly recommend it if you would like to have an experience of traditional japanese housing without spending a lot!

One of the highlights of my trip. I loved it!”
The hostesses, the location and the house itself
When you leave a place wishing you could stay more, you know it was a good one. The owners were friendly, very supportive when I had questions. The house is a beautiful Japanese property in a very traditional street. It really makes you feel like living in the real Japan. The place is small but is really clean and cosy and the breakfast was fabulous! I would recommend this place to anyone going to Nagoya.
