Bush Hideaway”

Gumleaves is an ideal location for a fun family weekend away. Family reunions and other such gatherings would be great to here. Travellers please note: despite its close geographical location to Coles Bay (the bay NOT the town), Gumleaves is over an hour's drive from Freyicent National Park so do not book here if your reason for travelling to Tasmania's east coast is to see Wineglass Bay. Also note that there is no fresh drinking water at Gumleaves

Best hospitality from Jack & Linda ”

Is a big property in the bush land with any wild life animal. I saw many kangaroos, possum and even kookaburra. The host Jack & Linda is so kind and friendly. Warm and generous as well. Makes me feel so comfortable staying there even though it was quiet (low season). Thanks to them I have the homestay kind of hospitality. Much appreciated on their kindness.

Nice place for a weekend retreat”

Good holiday position, just a little bit remote. The staff there is very enthusiastic. Get up early in the morning, take a boat in the small lake, the life there is like paradise.

Dont expect much from tired cabins”

Bush setting

Gumleaves is tired and in need of some TLC. The cabins are comfortable enough and clean bit showing signs of age and needing maintenance. There is play equipment for kids but the nets look old amd the playground is worn. Bark everywhere near the play equipment and a dead tree waiting to fall down on the picnic table didnt add anything to a bush ambience. The managers were lovely but dont expect the lovely photos online. Oh and take the warning to boil the water seriously. We all ended up with more than we bargained for.

Remote bush holiday experience”

Activities, nature, animals

Very interesting place to stay. Lots of activities for the kids. They also have deer enclosure and little aviaries as well as wallabies roaming around the park. Overall great experience. Might want to stock up on food and water as the nearest town is 17km away.

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay. ”

The cabin was very clean and has had a few updated items added since I last stayed, a new heat-pump and lovely soft couch. The grounds are well maintained. The children enjoyed Tennis, golf, climbing in all the amazing rope adventure challenges, feeding the dears and horses. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating / accepting of my extra needs child. The wildlife roam free all over the park, many opportunities to see kangaroos, birds and a few possum hiding in the night. A very peaceful place to stay. Thank you, we will see you again.

Great bush location”

This was booked because Agoda said it was at Coles Bay, it was actually over an hours drive away so we had to back track a lot which was frustrating. However the place itself was lovely and the staff very nice. The cabins were small but have everything you need and the grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife. It was nice and quiet and would be a great place to spend a few days if you had children as there is so much to do on the grounds.

Basic accomodation in a nice campsite. Lots of activities available. Alot of gravel on road to campsite so need to drive slowly. Facilities to cook and hot showers, bring groceries as nearest town about 10km away. Friendly hosts.

Bring kids, or use it as economical option for backpackers”

Deer/horse feeding, and other activities would keep your kids engaged. For backpackers, or bike travellers like me, it is an economical option, with practical shower, kitchen and bathrooms. 2-3km in on gravel road from highway.

On arrival we were told we had to pay an extra $20 for basic bed sheets. The ladies toilets were locked. There was a tree that had fallen on a power line on the next unit. None of the beds were made and it looked nothing like the room we ordered online.
