Pleasant surprise and very good price”
One night stay in spa cottage. Very comfortable bed, crisp linen, really good breakfast pack with variety of cereals and plenty of bacon, bread, milk and jams. Good sized corner spa not a bath spa. Very quiet location, not far to Warburton for a meal. Put off in photo by metal verandah screen but this works well in giving privacy. Two cottages are well spaced and vegetation screening. Realistic nightly rate compared to others we searched which were all at least double the price, most without breakfast and a lot in a row of rooms or cottages right next to each other. Recommend for a quiet getaway and as a base for the Warburton area and Yarra Valley.
Perfect weekend away”
My boyfriend and I spent the day in the Yarra Valley and arrived at Gundalee Cottages just in time to watch the sun set while sitting on the balcony having a glass of local wine. Gunther greeted us as we came in. He was a very friendly and accommodating host. It was the perfect weekend away. The cottage is clean, tidy, cosy and warm with a great view. The open fire was a particular favourite. We cooked dinner and breakfast on the BBQ on the balcony and the breakfast provisions were more than enough. I would highly recommend!!
Leafy vine cottage in the hills”
It was brilliant from start to finish. Check in was all done online so we arrived to park directly by our cottage. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, but although they live on the property, are extremely discreet. The house included everything we could think of, down to a corkscrew and even a wood burning stove with fire lighters, which along with the canopied balcony and the views of the valley made for an awesome romantic treat. The facilities are clean and well kept and the owners very helpful. It's also self catering so you can cook your own food. It has TV and internet connection, crockery with wine glasses. The forest is literally right behind you and the village a five minute drive away, with wineries along the valley further down. There's also a lot of natural beauty to be enjoyed in the area: hiking trail, ancient forests, and some lakes and rivers. It's a lovely weekend getaway, or perfect as a base for discovering the Yarra Valley wineries and Yarra Ranges national park. Would definitely go back and recommend it.
A Hidden Gem in East Wamburton”
It was fantastic, albeit for 1 night only. Gunther was a very friendly and caring owner of the cottage. Beautiful and serene setting in a strategic location in Yarra Valley though I realise this would largely depend on the attractions one is searching for in the Valley. My partner and I would love to be back in future for a longer stay! Would highly recommend Gunther and Leonie's cottages to those of us who would love to have a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Also, the provisions made available to us were complete - food, toiletries - akin to one's own home! Couldn't ask for more.
Fabulous getaway”
We had a fantastic weekend at Gundalee cottages. Rode the rail trail straight through to the doorstep. Owners Gunther and Leonie met me with an icy drink on arrival and were so friendly. Cottage has great mountain views and very peaceful. Chocolates in the room as well as a full bottle of milk fresh eggs bacon and cereal. Cottage spotlessly clean and comfortable. Will definitely be back again.
Peaceful and Serene, Cosy and Convenient Cottages”
We reached Gundalee way past 7 and the night had already fallen. It wasn't easy locating the unit as it was right at the end of a very dark road. However, Gunter was waiting for us nonetheless. He was very friendly and had already prepared the cottage for us already. Firework was already chopped and the fireplace was already going. It was very warm and cosy. As we reached late and there really wasn't any restaurants in the vicinity, we were delighted that Gunter had already provided eggs, bacon, fresh milk and juice and more for our usage and consumption. We suggest that if you will be heading down to bring some of your own food if need be as their facilities are very convenient. The view from the terraces is amazing. Its very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed the serenity of it all. We left very early next morning but we could imagine how beautiful sunrise must be from the terrace. Only downside was that we could not receive any wifi in our cottage. Will definitely stay in Gundalee again if we were to visit Yarra Valley.
The view is magical”
First time to Warburton and it definitely won’t be our last. The views of the mountains from Gundalee is absolutely spectacular. The cottage was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. We wish we had stayed longer
Excellent stay”
My wife and I would highly recommend this place to my friends because we were totally impressed by the very nice environment. The house was clean and tidy. One offer that was given to the guests was free breakfast, which made my stay even more pleasant as we could enjoy some quiet time in the house in the early morning. Driving from here to Yarra Valley wineries was only about 20 minutes. From there we got our nice wine for our bbq dinner. Thanks to the owner, Mr. Gunther - we had a wonderful stay and we would come back at out next visit to Yarra Valley.
Absolute treat !”
Gundalee cottage was an absolute treat! Amazing views and lovely cosy cottage, Gunters breakfast provisions were extremely generous. Great accomodation for such a modest price. Thankyou Gunter
a perfect couples retreat”
given the usual price of B&Bs in the Yarra Valley is much more than what is charged for this cottage, it is exceptional value for money. It's about 40mins from the main wine region but we found this was perfect for us because the drive through the hills into the winery section is beautiful. It's worth the trip and very well worth the expense. Thanks for great stay.
Beautiful views in a great spot”
Great little B&B cottage in Warburton with stunning views.Great spot to venture out towards Healesville and Marysville.Bring insect repellant as the bugs in the valley are huge.
Wonderful Warburton”
Our stay was awesome. The view and location were absolutely beautiful. We were greeted by Guntha's dog Leah upon arrival. She followed us all the way to our cottage and came to see us for the next couple of days that we were there. The township of Warburton was also a treat. it feels like a place that we'd like to retire in. Overall a wonderful time and place and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Cozy, basic and beautiful”
We stayed here to be relatively close to the nearby wineries in the Yarra Valley. It was a bit far to get to some of the wineries but not more than half an hour usually. However, the less-than-ideal location is massively outweighed by the great value, friendly host and gorgeous views that you get from this cute little cottage. The breakfast spread was excellent - when was the last time you got smoked salmon and short cut bacon as complimentary?
Blend into the environment and nature”
Just a few minutes from the town center, the cottage is a comfortable hideaway. With BBQ facility on the balcony, we can have breakfast and dinner with a very nice view. The nearby kookaburras are very welcoming and keep coming to the balcony to keep us company. The owner is very.......... friendly and generous. I'd definitely stay there next time I visit Warburton. The price is very reasonable.
Magnificent View”
Gunter was fantastic, he greeted us on arrival and ensured that we have everything in place, providing us with eggs and toast for breakfast. We had bought some food from the nearby town and decided to cook our own meals at the cottage. The first thing that greeted us was the majestic and fantastic mountain view. Perched on a tiny hill, we had a bird-eyes view of the surroundings and it was so quiet and peaceful. The photos above do not do justice to the view when we were greeted by it first thing in the morning. I would definitely recommend everyone to come to Gundalee's Cottages. Its a view for money and Gunter is a fantastic host.
Perfect place to relax and unwind”
The owner was very helpful, calling us on the day to advise on travel directions. When we arrived he was there to greet us and give us the lay of the land. It was the right mix of being informative without being overbearing. The cottages sit on a hillside with a perfect view of the opposing mountain. Directly in front of the cottages you have a small vineyard. This made for a great setting when dining outside in the evening. The cottage itself was very clean, spacious and had every modern convenience you could ask for (air-con, heaters, heated blanket, TV, log fire). A hob and oven would have been good, but there is an electric plug-in hob and a BBQ. The supplied ingredients for breakfast were of a high quality and not Coles value range. We'll definitely be coming back here again.
Amazing”
My friend and I stayed here for a night to get some future planning done for a competition. The owner was friendly and great to deal with from the get go! The cottage was clean and just overall incredible! With spectacular views, it was amazing waking up to the sound of wildlife and not traffic! The breakfast that was provided was fantastic, which we ate on the balcony with a perfect view. I will definitely be back here to get away from the busy city life to relax without a hassle!
Charming cottage in the big woods”
The cottage is quite big for 2 persons. All rooms have electronic heater. There is a fire place in living room which the owner provides a ton of woods. The cottage is really warm. The cottage locates in the owner's land and it is at the end of the road, next to the forest. You can find peace there. You will get the real rest.
Wonderful Location, Wonderful Host”
You could not fault these cottages and honestly the pictures do not do the views justice! The cottage we stayed in was clean and comfortable - everything you could need (including spacious Spa Bath). The hosts were so accommodating in tending to our special request to have vegetarian breakfast provisions and helpful in guiding us to the nearby waterfall walk we wanted to do. Would highly recommend and defiantly stay here again!
It was for our 34th wedding anniversary.”
We were greeted by a kookaburra who flew down to check us out. The owner was very welcoming and the little extra touches made it special. It was a quiet and peaceful place with a lovely view of the Warburton Ranges.
