Lovely palace for nature lover.”
The pension is very well-maintained. I love the design of the house as well as its decoration style. The place is clean and beautiful. The owners are very helpful. Service is excellent. All snacks are sale at reasonable price. I would recommend to order the dinner barbecue set at the pension. The garden is full of colorful flowers. I would definitely go back to this place. One thing, the pension is located quite far from the downtown around 20 minutes and is located in the national park area so it is suitable for guests who love quiet place and natural surroudings. Strongly recommended for staying in Gyeongju.
Mr Hwang and his wife are extremely kind and caring hosts. They have a beautiful hotel on the edge of the national park that allows you to completely relax in nature and enjoy the beauty of the Gyeongju National Park. Recommend the 10km round trek to the Girimsa Temple past the Falls and Mr Hwangs wife’s Lasagne 😀. Hope to come back and stay sometime soon.
Nice view and nice people”
It's a little bit hard to find at night, and a bit expensive but it's really worth it. The breakfast was great, and staffs were so friendly! The flowers were blooming, birds, bees, and butterflies were flying around,we took loads of pictures at the front yard. Wish we could have spent more time here.
Beautiful setting, friendly owners, stunning scenery”
Experience the real Korean countryside. Great walking trail nearby, incredible nature, bbq outside under the stars. Garden with beautiful flowers, lotus pond, frogs. Rice paddy out front, temple behind. Owners are fairly young and kind and helpful. One thing: arrive in the daytime, the pension is in a fantastic setting up an increasingly narrow (paved) road up a mountain valley in the middle of Gyeongju national park. It's easy to get lost if you can't see the signs, GPS navigation is not perfect around here.
Good place to stay - far away from town.”
ok overall good, only distance is quite far from town.
Great Family Weekend”
The stay was fantastic. It was a little outside the city but you are surrounded by mountains. We really enjoyed being able to bring our own meat in and bbq while our kids played in the open area. Try Mr. Moon's wife bean paste sauce.... yummy!!!! Highly recommend and hope to come back!
Beautiful setting, Friendly owner”
The Pension was beautiful and situated about 17 K outside of the city on a small, curvy road. We loved the more rural location giving us a break from urban life, but others may find it too far off the beaten path. Mr. Moon, the owner, greeted us each morning checking that we had maps, directions, umbrellas, etc... Each evening when we returned he greeted us again, asked about our day touring, and checked if we needed anything in our room. The room was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with basic cooking needs and I felt like we could have asked Mr. Moon for anything we needed. As stated above, if you are interested in being close to the city center this wouldn't be ideal - we have a car and didn't mind the extra 15 -20 minutes or so it took us to get places as the location was lovely. I rated food/dining as a 1 only because there wasn't a restaurant/cafe open while we were there. It seems there may be when it is a busier season.
Very enjoyable stay”
The stay was very enjoyable. Pick-up services were available and the hotel was very responsive to email queries. The Pension is located in a village and the nearby environment is extremely nice. The look of the buildings and the interior design of the room were awesome. It is recommended to people who love nature and enjoy peacefulness.
Hidden gem in the forest”
Even with the GPS in the car, it was challenging to locate the hotel.Once into the hotel grounds, the hotel was very pleasant. It was obvious that the owner, Mr Moon had put in a lot of loving care and effort into the upkeep. It was beautifully kept and well maintained. Mr Moon was kind to help us to locate the route to our next site of visit. Overall, this stay was very good.
A really great place to stay”
We had a great time. The staff could not have treated us better. There was a problem at check-in - not our fault- and Mr Kim did everything to help and went out of his way to assist. We could not have asked for more. It was really great. He helped us to get to and from a traditional Korean meal and the first night we had a good and high standard Korean BBQ. Thank you.
remoted location from the down town but nice”
It's nice to stay with friend or family after siteseeing at busy city.
Far from activities, but quiet and peaceful”
Although the pension is located far from the main activities of Gyeongju, we chose it because it was remote and peaceful. Mr Moon, the manager, offered to pick us up from the town center (wherever we wanted, such as Gyeongju World or the bus terminal) and also drop us off in any place that we asked. We stayed 2 nights and he picked us up and dropped us off 4 total times. He charges 10,000won (about $10) for this service each time, which is much cheaper than taxi fare. However, he was kind enough to "service" a few of those trips which means offer them free of charge. We brought our own meat and used the BBQ one night which cost 10,000won for him to provide the grill and charcoal. The place is in a quiet valley with a great night time view of the stars which are rare for me to see in Korea and although far from things, very peaceful and relaxing. A beautiful place.
Relaxing and pleasant”
We chose the pension to enjoy the autumn colors but unfortunately we were a week or so early. Nevertheless enjoyed our stay there as it was so quiet, with greenery all round. Excellent place to relax and chill out. The staff, especially Mr Kim, really make our stay a pleasant one. If you are driving there for the first time, do note that the approach road is only one lane (serving both direction), narrow and not lighted at night. Would strongly recommend that you arrive before dark!
Beautiful cozy pension”
The pension is located quite far from city, and is inside forest, but the owner, mr moon pick us up at the nearest bus stop, expo part. We are surprise by the room because it is so beautiful! As if we are in the castle! The room is very big with kitchen, bathroom attached. Too bad that we only stayed for one day. One credit is that, I have lost my handphone in gyeongju and mr moon did not hesitate to help me call to police station to ask, and the next day he also brought me to police station and post office to report for the lost. I am very much appreciated for his kindness!!
Beautiful, peaceful stay”
Had an extremely comfortable stay here. Very pretty place with well designed rooms. Super friendly manager who always goes the extra mile for us. Close to nature. Definitely a memorable stay!
Serene and refreshing”
I enjoyed my stay tremendously because it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Eventhough it is far from the toursit attractions and other amenities, I feel it was worth the commute. However, to ensure that you get to see more of Gyeongju, you will need to stay at least 3 nights because of the extra travel time required. Also, it may be advisable to rent a car and do your own driving, which will save time. I would recommend the pension to anyone who wishes to relax and take a break from city life.
Nice pension, but far from everything”
The pension is lovely. Each room has a different color scheme and has been lovingly decorated. The rooms are large with kitchenettes. We wished we had a car so that it would be easy to get around Gyeongju. Instead we had to ask the owner of the pension for rides to the bus stop, and we ended up spending a lot of time waiting for buses and riding all around. It was especially difficult when we were coming and going, as we had our luggage. The pension owner was kind and made us BBQ pork for dinner each night. Breakfast was included and it was basic: toast, a fried egg and cereal.
Well-designed houses surrounded by the nature”
I went to Gyeongju for the Cherry Marathon and stayed at the pension for 2 nights. My mum and I took the walnut suite. The interior design is warm and classy and the pension itself is situated on a mountain, it's so nice to wake up in fresh air with birds humming outside. Staff are caring and can arrange pick-ups.
If you are going to Gyeongju this is the only place you need to consider staying at. We stayed here for 2 nights, and didn't want to leave. The location is away from the town centre however this to me is a plus point, the pension is located in the forest and is the most romantic, relaxing place I have ever stayed in. I have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels around the world but I can honestly say JY pension beats them all, I fell in love with the place within 5 minuets of arriving. The manager of the pension is very kind and provided us with fantastic service throughout our stay even offering to drive us to the bus stops and back late at night, a true gentleman. I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful pension you have to stay in person to experience it fully, you will not regret it! 10/10!
