More about Haad Rin

With its white sand and good swimming, there are many reasons to visit Haad Rin. However, the beach-front strip of clubs along Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise Beach) remain the area's biggest draw, pumping out trance and dance music every night, with drinks promotions and fire shows. A Floating Bar is also accessible via traditional Thai long-tail boat.

The more tranquil Haad Rin Nai (Sunset Beach) offers more reasonably priced accommodation, but is less scenic.

The town is centered around Chicken Corner, a crossroads and popular meeting spot. Restaurants nearby serve a large variety of European, Indian, American, Australian, and Thai dishes, enjoyed by young western backpackers watching movies and sitcoms on large television screens.

In season, Haad Rin offers jet skiing, volleyball, muay thai boxing and fire-twirling lessons while ATMs, mini-marts, money exchange and internet cafes are in abundance year-round.

The number of air-conditioned rooms and apartment blocks is increasing, but accommodation is still primarily made up of hammock-equipped huts and bungalows.

With the influx of backpackers arriving for Full Moon Parties, accommodation can become much harder to obtain and prices rise accordingly each month.

Haad Rin is small enough to be traversable on foot, and there are at least three ferries a day from the Big Buddha Pier on Koh Samui.
