I literally thought I was in Japan! ”

The hotel is very beautiful. Very well-designed with all the Japanese vibe and decorations. I felt myself as if I was in Japan for real. Very lovely. The beds were comfy and the room had all necessary amenities. The breakfast was healthy, delicious and big enough to make you feel full. (*However, as my friend didn't eat pork, and the breakfast got stir-fried pork(*it's a freshly made bento, not a buffet), it would have been better if the hotel staff let us choose the type of meat we prefer.) The wooden bath tub in my room got leakage and need some repair. Anyway, I'd love to come back again. It was a great experience.

    Nice hotel”

The hotel is so well designed. I like all things here. Really valuable for the price. It’s a pity we didn’t have a chance to try the onsen, next time we won’t miss it. But we still had tried the wood bathtub inside our room, also had a good time with it. Nice staffs, they are so friendly and kind. Breakfast was delicious, we love it. Will go back again!

Best place to stay in Chiang Mai”

Found the listing for Haikin Ryokan in agoda, wasnt too sure at first as it has limited number of review but I chose this place anyway because the limited review were all good. Turned out, the lack of review was because the place is new. The place is nice and clean. The staffs were all very friendly and accommodating. Really great location, love the Saturday night market. I had a really great time and I'm glad I chose Haikin Ryoukan, will be back again for sure. PS: Make sure to speak to the friendly owner, Jessica. She's super friendly! =)

    Very disappointing stay. Not recommended.”

We are big fans of Japanese style accommodations and onsens, but this "ryokan" was a huge disappointment. Everything seemed to be built as cheaply as possible. It takes more than just a few Japanese paintings on the wall to make something feel authentic. The room was a nice size, but the bed was rock hard and the pillows were uncomfortable. The bathroom was very moldy, especially behind the tub, and had a strong mold smell. The "onsen" was tiny -- the jacuzzi tub was cold, and the one with hot water was dirty. It wasn't comfortable or relaxing at all. Breakfast was stir-fried meat on rice and a salad with fake crab sticks. It was "just ok", but definitely not great. The hotel is also located on Wua Lai, so if you are driving your own car, don't expect to be able to get in or out on Saturdays because the street is closed for a walking street market. The hotel is close to the airport, so that is convenient, but it is not very convenient for seeing the tourist sites inside the old city.

Japanese feel-like place, close to CNX”

The place is located at near Chiangmai airport. So convenient when traveling back. However, it is a bit far from everywhere else if you want to go to cafes or markets. The room was fine but not that comfy. It was a bit musty. On top of that, breakfast was not good at all. Overall, it is fairly livable for the last day of the trip.

    Unique experience in Chiang Mai”

If you're looking for something different in your Chiang Mai stay then Haikin Ryoken is definitely that. From the look and feel of the rooms, to the Japanese style bathroom, the interesting breakfasts and the in-house onsen, there isn't another hotel like it in the city. Added to this is the attention to service provided by Tanya at the front desk, who provided advice, assistance and help along with making the stay seem extra special for my two young daughters - both of whom can't wait to go back.

    Nice Cosy hotel.”

A lovely boutique hotel with a Japanese theme. Breakfast is simple Japanese fare. Staff are friendly and there is a pet dog which we invited it to our hotel room... :-).. Saturday night market is just right in front of the market and we bought some interesting handicrafts. A hotel which we will returned to stay in the near future.

Friendly host, but lack of cleanliness ”

Blanket hasn't been changed before our Arrival, which was clearly recognizable. Staff changed it after our complaint. Size of Rooms and Bath rather small. Unfortunately a very very hot Building, thus AC was necessary. Cleanliness wasn't satisfying at all. Pro: the breakfast, although limited choice. Wouldn't stay again. There're better places for less money in Chiang Mai.
