there was not so many backpackers, so the place was clean and cosy. Bedroom were comfortable, bathroom and toilets were also good. It was just a little bit trick to find the lodge because the entrance is the middle of the building.

Perfect! ”
We spent 2 nights in Haka Lodge during our road trip in New Zealand. The hotel is perfectly located and got all the facilities you are looking for. The pantry is huge, rooms and bathrooms are clean, staff super friendly. We definitely recommend this place!

An awesome spot”
A huge common area made bigger with the massive windows facing the bay. Very comfy bunks plus some amazing staff. I would stay here a hundred times over on Paihia

It is in the center of the town. Well it might not be easy to find a free car park next to the hostel. Apart from that, all good!

This is a great backpackers , well set up and modern with awesome location Bathroom shower and basin needed a good clean and some exit mold - as build up in all the crevices . For a as new facility it just needed a toothbrush and elbow grease . ( twin share with on suite ) I expected better as have stayed before and in these Covid times ... staff member letting in all new arrivals kept complaining every time someone arrived too about having to get up and down

Lovely Place, Good location”
Good hostel, nice location right on the ocean. had a large kitchen and common room space. Didn't seem to friendly of a place though, everyone kept themselves to themselves and staff didn't talk much. But location and room would make it worth going back to for sure.

Affordable basic stay”
Great staff and location. Only downside was the room had zero ventilation so was very stuffy and hot, and had food crumbs all under the bed. Good location for restaurants and beach.

Dont recommend, they have an aircon unit in hall area which staff dont put on to a cool setting at all so its too hot inside and too hot to sleep. Also NO PARKING FOR 1 KM

Another Exceptionally Outstanding Haka Lodge”
This was the second haka lodge I have been to during my travels around New Zealand and it whole heartedly lived up to the high standards the first lodge instilled. You would be hard pressed to find facilities on par with this haka lodge. You feel at home which is an immensely difficult thing to achieve for a hostel. It offers privacy for those that want it and plenty of social opportunities for those that seek it too. The view is absolutely incredible and you will find yourself waking up early to catch a glimpse of the sun rising. You couldn’t ask for a better location in paihia! You are within close proximity to everything you could possibly need. By far the best part of Haka lodge is it’s staff. They are helpful, friendly, attentive and most importantly “real”. I would strongly recommend this haka lodge to any one!

Good choice but”
Location of the Haka Lodge is excellent - centre of town and only 5 mins walk to the docks. On arrival, the entrance was a bit tricky to find as its down a passage way off the main road but people around pointed it out easily. I arrived quite late at night, called the tel number on the door and access code to the building was provided. The view from the seat to roof glass window in the common room was really great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Amenities at the Haka Lodge were clean and comfortable. Free wifi signal was good. Overall it was a good option however the one thing that really let the place down and would be a reason not to stay again was the fact that there were no windows in the room. Staying in a 4 person dorm, the rooms were so stuffy so the door to the dorm had to be left open all the time. Considering that the rooms are pretty close to the main entrance, one also wonders about security. I stayed in Feb so can only imagine how bad it gets when its really hot.

Thank you for your review of our property. We're glad you loved the view and found our staff friendly and helpful - we strive to make our guests feel at home so I hope this was achieved! Due to the proximity of the building next door, we are unable to offer opening windows in all of our rooms. We try to work around this by providing fresh air ventilation in each room 24 hours per day, and providing a stand alone fan to help with air circulation. February does tend to be our hottest summer month, which is why the rooms were warm when you stayed with us. On the topic of security, I can assure you that our building is very secure - our main door locks at 8pm and the only access is for guests of Haka Lodge, using the key fob we provide on check in. Overall, I hope the positives of your stay outweighed the negatives and that you still enjoyed your time here with us. Thanks again for your review.

The staff, especially Trish made me feel very much at home. Great location & facilities. The kitchen & lounge areas have a really good feeling about them. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Good, well managed hostel with great chill out area”
This was one of my favourite places I’ve stayed at in New Zealand. If you want somewhere you can go to relax and that doesn’t get noisy at night this is a great option. Location is perfect too, on the Main Street outside the wharf for ferry and boat trips etc. And also next to the iSite and intercity and manabus bus stops. Decent well equipped kitchen with lovely chill out area with views over the bay. Met some lovely people to hang out with here in the lounge. My private room was great with a comfy bed and the WiFi was reliable too. Oh yeah, the staff were great and offer you all the info on trips etc with a smile. Would definitely stay here again if I returned to Paihia. Thanks. :)

All good.The hostel is at the center of the city and very convenient for explorer Paihia. The room is simple but clean and the kitchen is useful. The dining area is so nice and comfortable and faces to the beach. You can see the good view from the window,I like it. (The shower pressure is not enough ,but anyway I recommend you.)

The place to be”
This is the hostel to stay when you're in Paihia. It's the best location, pretty much next to bus stop, across ferry and in between the shops. The facilities are good (nice/big kitchen, good lounge,). Bathroom is clean and has enough space. Everything is new which is nice. The bed (I stayed in a shared dorm for 4) was good too. Good matrass, light and socket and a curtain for privacy wich I think is really nice. I would definitely recommend this place. There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Great location”
I stayed two nights at the private room with Hala lodge. It was wonderful! The room is clean and in good condition. The location is really good and it will take less than a minute for you to reach the coach station and ferry terminal.

Dam love it”
Never expected this lodge have a super nice sea view. The resting hall is just comfortable for me to chit chatting with friends and do whatever I like. Very warm environment. How I wish I could stay another few more days here. Rating deserve 10
