"First note - I went to Hakodate because I have a friend who lives there. I don't think Hakodate itself is a place worth staying at unless you're on business or arrive late and need to spend the night before going elsewhere (i.e. the countryside, you didn't come to Hokkaido just to stay in the city). That being said, if you do have business in Hakodate, the Four Points is an excellent choice. It's located right in front of the JR station, just cross the road and you're there. Accommodation in Hakodate is cheap so a 4-star hotel like this is cheaper than a 2.5-star hotel in Tokyo. Room is standard by Japanese terms. One problem is that for some reason it was pretty hot in the room (although very cold outside) but the A/C only does heating. Great view of the area if you're in a high floor. Breakfast is great but expensive. Staff are very friendly though you could expect better English in a place operated by Sheraton. Overall great choice if you need a little more than a bed."

"すごく良かったんです。駅からの近さ、おしゃれなインテリア、スタッフも優しいし、赤レンガ倉庫にも近し... 悪い点はまだ見つかってないです! 次のお泊りをワクワクしております。お楽しみです! JR Inn Hakodate is super great. I've used their hotels in Sapporo and Chitose several times and they've always been my go-to hotel, despite the price. JR Inn Hakodate is only 10 seconds away from the station (only if there are no strong winds! Otherwise you will need to go through the main entrance and not the side door that's close to the hotel). Once you enter the building you can see that the hotel is very up to date and following for COVID-19 regulations. Hand sanitizer sprays from the entrance door, temperature checks, distancing, restaurant buffets (with the plastic gloves and guests having masks on when not eating). Kind of wished there has the alcohol sanitizer sprays on every level nearby the elevator, but that's just me (and probably costs the hotel more). The onsen is lovely. Its a moderate size, with a washing area, inside and outside pool. If you go to the outside pool you can see the train tracks and maybe even see them depart! There is also a parking lot nearby for 600 yen with usage from 14:00-12:00, unlimited. If you're lucky you can park in front of the hotel, otherwise there's a close by parking lot that is just a few minutes away around the corner. Definitely worth the money and stay. Kind of also wished they were more in the central area close to the red bricks but... can't complain since they should be next to the JR station. "

"Interior of the hotel has the resemblence of a 4 or 5 stars hotel. Very nice looking. The rooms are superbly clean and the equipments look very new. One down side is the floor seems to be popping out at a few spots probably due to weather or bad carpentry. Location is some distance from JR, but not something one would shun away from unless they are not keen on exploring the area or handicapped, otherwise, we had fun making full use of the daily tram&bus passes to explore the main hakodate touristy and quieter areas. 1 of the best hotel in Hakodate for sure. We didnt make use of the free Onsen."

"The hotel is just across the road from the bus station, and the Hakodate Station tram stop. It is about a 5-minute walk across the square from the JR station. Good location for getting around. The staff were friendly and helpful during check-in and helped to fill in the consignment form for delivery of my bag to the next hotel too, despite their limited English. Breakfast is simple but sufficient, as long as you don't go down too late. The room is quite small, but equipped with bathroom, hairdryer, kettle, mini fridge, TV etc. There are ample plugs to charge devices, but bring an international adapter if coming from overseas. WiFi was ok. The only points I didn't like was there was only 1 lift and it could be a bit slow in the mornings. Also, the bathroom is modular and the floor creaked a lot every time I used the sink or bath. "
