Great location opposite the Hakone Gora Park and a short walk (uphill) from the train station. The Gora brewery is also just around the corner. The food (breakfast & dinner) was amazing and prepared with care and attention to details. Gora is a quiet town quite a distance away from the main Hakone town. While you can take the bus to get around, we highly recommend hiring a car so you can explore and see more even heading up north to Kawaguchiko area.
Had a very comfortable stay here and enjoyed the onsen and other facilities and the staff are very helpful and friendly as well. Will come back to stay if there is chance to visit Hakone in the future. A word of caution if you are travelling via train and walk to the inn - to travel light as you will need to walk up the steep road to the inn. Alternatively, there are taxis available near the train station.
Cozy Japanese ryokan”
Stayed here for one night with Japanese style room w/o shower & toilet in it. Room was clean and food was well-prepared and served. The hot spring is really nice. It’s a bit of walk from Gora station since there is a steep uphill. I would recommend people who stay here, especially with luggages to take the cable car to koen-shimo station. The walk would be flat and much easier. If I am staying here again, it would go for the room type with toilet in it which would be nicer.
just around 8 mins walk from tram station, but a little slope of it, all the others are nice. ”
the staff are helpful and nice; v yummy dinner and breakfast; v big room; the onsen is not v big, but good enough as not many people in total; a convenience store is just nearby of 1 min walk; overall the hotel is highly recommended!
Great food, thin walls”
I stayed two nights in a Japanese style room. First of all, the food was excellent. I really love a good Japanese breakfast and this did not disappoint. Dinner was also varied and delicious. The large common bath was nice, and I enjoyed the outdoor pool. The main complaint I had was not necessarily with the hotel, but rather with the people in the neighboring room. They returned at 10 pm and started bumping into the walls and talking with a loud voice. This went on until 1am. I could hear everything because the walls are thin. I am sure they could hear me asking to "please be quiet" but I don't know whether they understood English (they were speaking one of the Chinese languages, I think).
Close to transportation options”
The place is close to one of the stations along the Hakone Cable Car trail. The hotel is very intimate with only 10 guest rooms and it is very quiet. The hotel serves breakfasts and dinners for each night of stay and the meals are tasty! There is also 4 massage chairs, free to use, at the lobby. Other than the standard onsen, there is also a private bathroom located at the 3rd floor of the hotel, subjected to booking. Highly recommended to those who are in Hakone, Gora area and wants to go up to Sounzan Hill / Owakundani without travelling much.
Great Onsen hotel with reasonable price”
This is a great onsen hotel for couples and families. My boyfriend and I have reserved a room with private bath, the tub is big (and private!) enough for two. A great choice to spend a beautiful romantic night with your other half <3 They provide abundant dinner and breakfast too! Thank you to the staffs for the perfect night!
Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Also, they offer elegant yukatas of various patterns. The complementary dinner and breakfast are unforgettably delicious. I'd stay there again next time when I visit Hakone.
The slope to hotel is killing esp when you carry luggage The location is 10 min to Gora station. The staffs are friendly We really like their breakfast and dinner The public bath is great. Overall is good. Recommended
Great Hotel for Onsen in Gora”
The breakfast and dinner were impressive. The room was comfortable and it has a great public onsen. However, the tea set in my room seems to be used before and didn't clean. Besides that, overall is great
Exceptional Stay. warm and friendly staff”
i must say i have stayed in ryoken many times. this wasnt it. But the feel and vibe i get is comparable. what stood out for me are the following: 1. Exceptionally friendly staff. there are 3 of them that left an impact. the younger dude, lady and the mature man. They will TRY to help you. they are extremely approachable too and will always smile and try to help you out. got problem? ask them!!!! Exceptional. a million likes to them. 2. Food. no fancy pency food BUT all are done so well. food is ready and on the table when you arrive. the staff will then serve you the remaining food when you are about to be finished. attention to detail is really exceptional. 3. Room. the room i stayed in is simple yet awesome. have all the amenities you expect from the room. comfortable bed and good view of the mountain. a scene to wake up to for sure. 4. Onsen. The onsen is not mindblowing. but it serves its function. a good bath nonetheless what left the greatest impression is its unassuming environment, surroundee by trees and top notch staff. couldnt have asked for a better stay P.S. if you are going to lug your luggage up the hill, good luck to you. It is a battle against gravity. luckily, at a nominal fee, u can have ur luggage delivered to here from Gora station. ask around!
Good ryokan experience”
We had a spacious, very comfortable room with a beautiful view. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. They are served in the dining room (not individual room). My only caution is that while it is located 5 minutes walk from Goro, it is up a steep hill. Also there wasn't an elevator to the 2nd floor where our room was located which might be a disadvantage for some.
Lovely hotel .”
This was a perfect hotel for my 1 night stay in Hakone. Unfortunatley bad weather meant I was mostly confined to room and immediate surrounds but the room was comfortable with a lovely view. The only places to eat nearby were expensive though .Well recommended .
A comfortable stay”
The hotel was clean and bright. The rooms are spacious and the hotspring and massage chair is excellent. These are he best activities after a rich dinner. Hope that the owner will install one more massage chair so that the customers will not have to wait long.
We enjoyed our stay here, our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, beds very comfortable and very quiet facing the forest at the rear of the building. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and generous. Staff were very helpful but I agree that for us we found English instructions lacking, particularly for the ever confusing airconditioner. Staying in Gora is convenient to all the sites/attractions and it is a very short walk from the train station and cable car stop. I would definitely stay here again.
We had an excellent stay. In addition to a great location a 10-minute walk up the hill from the Gora Station transportation hub for Hakone sights, this ryokan seemed just the right size, not too large or small, to provide a quiet atmosphere with excellent staff, for a relaxing and trouble-free stay. The dinner and breakfast were excellent, both primarily traditional, but with contemporary twists that seemed to add comfort to the meals for foreign travelers. The Onsen for women, the only one we experienced, was clean and well-maintained, with a second hot tub outdoors through a sliding glass door, which was in the open air, tree-lined, and private. The open-air Onsen was particularly nice in the chilly January weather, with the heat of the tub contrasting with the cool air. No private showers in the rooms, but toilets and sinks, which were all that were necessary, given the bath facilities in the Onsen. We highly recommend the place to couples seeking a quiet, relaxing stay.
Is a must to stay at Hakone”
The staff was Friendly and food was good. There is a private room for Onsen. Massage chair at the lobby is free to use. Place is relaxing. My Friend have accidentally throw away her luggage receipt, and have no QR code to open the luggage locker, lucky the staff help us to check on the room bin which we have check out, and tell us the QR code number so my Friend can get back her luggage. Really very good service. Thanks for your help. Will go back and stay here again, if I am going back to Hakone.
Location average, not very clean”
Although the hotel was only 400m away from Gora station, you need to walk up a very steep slope, which is very tiring for people with large luggages. Cleanliness was average as we found a bug in the room and my skin felt itchy after the private onsen. But the public onsen was ok. The breakfast and dinner were nice.
Nice environment and yummy dinner and breakfast, staffs are helpful. But the location is little bit far and up hill
Impressive onsen, great experience with the kids. Room was big and overall experience relaxing and recharging. Do not attept to walk from GORA station just take the tram 1stop.
