I will stay here next time!”
It's a warm hotel with history and honor. The most wonderful of this hotel is the view of the spacious garden, snow in winter make it a white picture, there are a handle telescope and a manual book about birds in room, you can go out with the yard slippers and start an adventure in summer. The staff were so friendly and helpful, facilities were great and decoration was elegant. There are a French dining hall and a Japanese breakfast restaurant, the food was delicious but a little expensive. The onsen was good enough and you can enjoy the beautiful forest sightseeing on the mountain climbing way of station to hotel.

Convenient. Good choice if you are traveling with young children or old folks.”
The hotel staffs are friendly. Breakfast restaurant environment and service is good. But Breakfast choice is limited - either japanese or American breakfast. Hotel room is big and comfy. There is Onsen available in the hotel and free for guest. Very near to the bus stop (about 1 min walk only) where you can ride on the bus to most of the Hakone Tourist spots using Hakone Free Pass. Hakone Free Pass can be purchased at Shinjuku Station Odawara Station. Getting it at Odawara station and you can use the free pass to ride on the bus direct go to Hakone Highland hotel. The bus will stop at the bus stop right outside of the hotel. It’s a less than a min walk of distance from bus stop to the hotel. Wheel Chair (fold up), baby stroller (fold up) and Big Luggage is allowed to bring onboard. Recommended for traveller with baby, old fold and in a family.

Lovely stay! ”
We really enjoyed our night at Hakone Highland Hotel. The room was beautiful, and looked out onto the expansive grounds in the back. We chose a western style room with 3 beds, and the room was very big for a Japanese hotel. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, which makes getting around easy to do. We opted not to eat at the hotel, as it was quite pricey, but were able to walk to an italian place about 10 minutes away. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again!

Great location fantastic views calm and peaceful with hammock in garden area ”
This is a great hotel away from most others , so it will be more peaceful and calm with awesome views and some trails nearby. The room was good even we had the cheaper older rooms that you can see in the pictures but still clean and convenient and comfortable The birds sing for you for free all day and there are binoculars to bird watch. Hammock outside was great i fell sleep for two hours on it without being disturbed by any unwanted noise. Truly peaceful in hakone area. Highly recommend Restaurant is expensive for dinner, but looks oishi (tasty) Thanks, Highland Hotel

Great couples retreat!”
If you want to experience Hakone as a king, go here! I admit, the place is a bit pricy, but it is worth it! The staff treat you so nicely and the rooms are beautiful. We got the room with the hot springs bath so we didn’t need to leave our room at all! The rooms are spacious and clean and you can order a massage in your room as well! The only con was the restaurant at the hotel wasn’t open all day (would close between breakfast/lunch/dinner). And you’d have to walk to find another restaurant (which most either close at 5 or open at 6). Other than that, it was a relaxing trip to Hakone that was nice after all the hectic traveling in Japan.

Great Hotel. Amazing Staff. ”
This is a great hotel. It's location is good, but it is costly to get around by public bus if you want to do some sightseeing. If you have a car or can rent a car the location is great. The hotel is very close to the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. Very cool place to visit and grab lunch and a coffee. The hotel pricing is a bit high and that was with an online discount that reduced the price by 50% or so. The staff is great, but English is not spoken often. There is only one restaurant on the facility that is pretty pricey, but very tasty. The hot spring baths are usually empty and very peaceful. In short... this is a fairly pricey hotel, not a resort, so keep that in mind when booking. One more thing... the beds, showers, and views were amazing. You are also a five minute walk to 7-eleven and a really good soba restaurant.

Spacious hotel with private onsen (hot spring), comfortable”
The hotel is very good with very nice scene and quiet. My room is very spacious with 2 king beds and private onsen (hot spring). The hot spring and the room are very comfortable , and the hotel is located just next to the beautiful Hakone Venetian Glass Museum and The Little Prince Museum. Bus stop is just next to the hotel entrance. Hotel car park is free as well.

Good hot spring hotel at Hakone. ”
It's lovey hot spring hotel located at highland part of Hakone, beautiful lawn and pine tree at the side of the hotel. Natural hot spring water is lovey, facility is not quite big but good enough. Typical Japanese hotel cleanness standard. Will not disappointing you.

Exceptional”
It was a great experience for a western style hotel. Will definitely go back to this place. Onsen and wet sauna were great but personally i enjoyed the sauna. So relaxing. It has outdoor hotspring too. There’s a museum close to the hotel called Venetian glass museum. I went there 4 weeks before my stay in Highland hotel. It was beautiful and classy.

Relaxing and Great Location”
The hotel and onsen was incredible relaxing. The bus stop included in the Hakone Pass was right outside the hotel. The Venetian Glass museum and Little Prince museum are walking distance. There are little shops, restaurants, convenience stores nearby. Attractions and restaurants do close early so plan for an early dinner but the onsen is open until midnight so after dinner plan on relaxing at the spa. Loved the experience!

Excellent”
To arrive to this hotel from Odawara station, East Exit, & take Bus T. The reception staff were extremely polite/friendly. However, there's a lack of English speaking staff. Even though, they do try their best to understand what you mean. The private in-room onsen was amazing and spacious, which was the main reason of my stay in this hotel. Location wise, it is close to some Hakone attractions, but you will need the bus to reach other areas.

LOVE THE ONSEN...a quiet, peaceful and utterly beautiful stay by the mountains. ”
The room was SPACIOUS, clean, well-equipped and the onsen is modern, wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed every night! The hotel has a beautiful garden and is set against a stunning landscape. It's also near the bus stop so you can travel to other popular sites in Hakone easily. The staff are well versed in English, helpful and polite. Definitely a must-stay!

Your Great Getaway in Hakone!”
The hotel is accessible via bus (from JR Odawara station, take Odakyu bus going to Togendai. The hotel is directly infront of the bus stop). If you have big luggage, suggest to have it shipped directly to the hotel. The bus is usually full. Hotel is far from top Hakone destinations but our purpose as a couple was just to relax and make use of their facilities. We booked a room with its own onsen so we made the most out of it. They also have an aqua lounge for relaxation and their water is very clean and has lots of minerals. Try their Japanese style breakfast, while a bit pricey, is a good experience. Most of the time, we buy food from a 7/11 store 500m from the hotel. We had a fun and relaxing time.

Very nice hotel, love their hot spring! We went there in nov, the autumn season, the natural color of leaves is so beautiful in their garden! The location seems so far on the map, but just take a bus in the station, for about 20 mins, with a stop exactly at the hotel entrance. And the bus is included in the hakone pass. Love to come again :)

A first class Hakone hotel and spa. ”
Location is away from the sulphur fumes of the volcano. Staff, facilities and food was great. Bus stop in front is easy way to get around Hakone to see the sights. Olsen was great along with the food. The menu options are a bit limited and only a few local restaurants. I suggest taking a taxi from the train station rather than the bus suggested on the hotel website.

Amazing retreat!”
Booked here as a bit of a treat during my Japan trip, especially after seeing a great price when looking at other similar properties. I arrived not long after Typhoon Hagibis and I received extensive communication from the Hotel about what was up and running and what had been affected by the weather, even offering to change my dates. It was a really nice touch. The hotel is a little bit out of town, but this is a major benefit. It is still easily accessible to the town and sights by bus, but has a level of tranquillity and serenity that can only can afford but it's location in the forest. If you can, try and get a room with the hot tub on the balcony - lying in it while looking into the forest, listening to the birds and the drizzling if rain is something I'll never forget. The room itself was very large, clean and luxurious. The hotel grounds were also a sight to see, just walking around the lush gardens was a treat. I cannot recommend a stay here highly enough. Great place.
