GLOSE THE STATION AND SHOPPING STREET”
THE LOCATION OF HOTEL ARE GOOD FOR GET THE STATION FROM TOKYO CITY, BUT IF YOU DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR I SUGGEST STAY AT THE 仙石原/強羅, ALL OF THE HOTEL LOCATED AT 湯本 ARE MORE OLD THAN 仙石原/強羅, BUY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY TIME GET THE BUS OR TRAIN SO I WILL SUGGEST YOU STAY AT HAKONE HOTEL KAJIKASO

Tired Hotel”
Pricey, but expected for a touristy area like Hakone. Location was very convenient and a short walk from the station. The hotel itself is very old and rundown which is a bit disappointing, but perhaps "authentic" in a way. They served Kaiseki dinner in a big dining hall so it didn't feel very intimate.

Not the best ryokan experience ”
Pros- Location is near to train station Cons - Very inflexible for my request to change room type despite 10 days in advance request. - Receptionist don’t really speak much English, hard to communicate - Meals are served in restaurant! Not in bedroom - Request for 1 hr late check out was rejected

DISAPPOINTED AND UNPLEASANT STAYING”
After we made a reservation for dinner, bed, and breakfast at Hakone Hotel Kajikaso, we excitedly anticipated our staying at Hakone Hotel Kajikaso. But after check-out, we found there were 20K Japanese yen missing from our wallet left at the room, when we needed to buy train tickets with cash. We understood out suspect cannot be the evidence for our missing money. But we didn’t go out and didn’t use the money after we finished the dinner. At that time, there was the hotel staff who was entering our room to make the bed. We did go through our wallet and suitcases several times, but still couldn’t find the missing money. We suspected it was stole during our dinner in the restaurant, since the hotel staff was supposed to make the bed for us. But after we returned to the room after dinner, the bed was not made and only saw a jug of cold water at the table. We had been traveling to many countries even to Europe where our money wasn’t missing or stole. It is so disappointed and upset that we had this experience in Japan where people have a good impression and I have been travelled several times. Although the stolen money isn’t too many, and it may be the stealing trick that they didn’t steal all the money in the wallet but only the 2 ten-thousand bills were stole (thousand bills was still in the wallet). It was supposed to be a happy and memorable journey to us. However, after we found this was happened to us, we were so frustrated and upset. Moreover, it’s a lesson learned to us. We left the message to warn the traveller who is going to stay at Hakone Hotel Kajikaso and pay attention to your belongings.

Way too expensive for average experience. Food was average. Dining room servers inattentive. ”
Room that was claimed to be non-smoking smelled like cigarette smoke. I was in Japan for two weeks and stayed at 7 different places. This was the worst value of all.

Disappointing with the Onsen & the Staff”
This is the second time staying at the hotel, I chose the “River View Room with Private Hot Spring”. The ultimate disappointment is that the hot spring is not “hot”! Then how can it called “hot spring”. We told the staff and they assigned a staff to check it, however they cannot resolve the problem within a reasonable time, this happens on both days of our stay. Finally when checking out I complain to the staff, their response is totally unacceptable. Their excuse is because of the cold weather making the hot spring not hot enough, what are they talking about? This is the lowest level of excuse I have ever heard, the staff didn’t accept the problem and didn’t do anything to let us feel comfortable, and didn’t do anything to show that they are sorry for the problem. We didn’t ask for anything because their response shows that they don’t feel bad. I do experience issues/problems in other hotels in Japan, but I can assure that this hotel gave us the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Quiet and Serene Mountain Getaway”
Kajikaso was a quite aged hotel full of history. Located in Hakone, which was featured in Hachiko movie, the hotel was located in a serene and surrounded by picturesque mountain and sceneries. Highlight of this hotel was the caretaker lady, which will see your every needs, and also the onsen, which best enjoyed outdoor. And then when you entered the room after enjoying a nice hot soak, you will be greeted by river sound just right outside your window, which made us sleep very soundly. Love this hotel and absolutely recommend it to everyone who would love to visit Japan.

Ryokan style with good view from room”
It's not my first time to stay at this kind of half-board Japanese ryokan. Hotel Kajikaso is not very traditional one. It's kind of mixed type. We booked two rooms: one with private bath, another is normal. All come with breakfast and dinner. When we did check-in the reception said that the meals would be served in the restaurant. I claimed that the reason I booked this hotel was to have in-room meal. After that she said that we can have our meals inside our rooms (we told them to set our meal for 4 persons in one of our room). The food is nice presentation but lack of English explanation. The maid service is nice but I used to stay in another place where the service is much better (the ryokan I stayed before, the maid cannot speak English but she tries to explain and show us the room in details to know how things work. During meal, there was menu in English. However, Hotel Kajikaso has only Japanese menu in paper and the maid cannot explain us what she is serving.) For sure, there is not internet connection available. Good thing is the futon is very comfortable to sleep. Private and Public onsen are very nice. The toiletries are good ones.

Excellent hotel with value for money.”
This stay was by far the best accommodation during our trip. The room was extremely spacious with a gorgeous view facing the river and autumn leaves. Imagine going to sleep and waking up with the soothing sounds of water flowing down the stream, absolutely relaxing. We only had a night in Hakone, so decided to skip out on the sightseeing bits and instead checked in on the dot at 3pm. Was a good choice as we had the chance to relax in the room and also since dinner was to be served at 7pm. The hotel has a hot foot bath area on the lobby level, with the same view as did our room so it was really pretty. The kaiseki dinner was extensive and pretty spectacular, and the breakfast the next morning was a generous and beautiful spread as well. There are 2 floors with onsen (hot springs) which we managed to try both at night and the next morning. Amazing in the cooler weathers, wish we could've spent more time there. There is a gift/souvenirs shop at the hotel as well, which was very convenient. Hotel staff were very helpful and polite as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend to my friends.

Comfortable room with private onsen in the room”
It was a memorable stayed in this hotel. It's a traditional Japanese Ryokan. After checking in, we were accompanying by the receptionist to our room and introduced the room facility. After that, a Japanese maid came to serve us green tea. There was a private Onsen (Hot Spring) in the room at the balcony overlooking to the river. Dinner and breakfast were served in the room. The foods were all Japanese with fresh sashimi lobster, abalone and cooked seafoods, beef, soup, salad and with other sides dishes. It was a big dinner and and breakfast, my husband and I enjoyed very much! The hotel is closed to the Hakone Yumoto station about 200metres walk.

Great location. Room needs a refresh.”
I chose this hotel because it is so close to Hakone Yumoto station and it offered views of the river. On first sight I was very impressed with the hotel. I had chosen a typical Japanese room for 4 people. We arrived early so left our bags and went sightseeing. Later we were shown to our room and shown our yakatas to wear. We changed into them and a girl in a kimono came and prepared green tea for us sat at the low table on tatami mats. We were escorted down to dinner so our futon beds could be prepared. We ate in a private dining room at a typical low table. There was plenty of food, beautifully presented, which our waitress brought to us. We used the onsen – there are 2 floors available for men and women at different times. Our beds were very comfortable. We were collected in the morning to go downstairs for breakfast so our beds could be put away again. The breakfast was again beautifully presented and there was a lot of it- too much in fact after a large meal the previous evening. I did not enjoy the breakfast much and craved something slightly more western. There was coffee available to buy(!) in the sitting area of the hotel. The coffee did not taste nice. It was extremely bland. Overall the room we stayed in looks like it needs a refresh. It was rather drab looking and worn and the bathroom fittings are dated. There was a smell of cigarettes in the room even though I had requested a non-smoking room. Hakone Yumoto is a nice town. On the whole I wish I had eaten elsewhere in town. I hadn't expected a private dining room. Part of the joy of eating for me is that it is a social experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is very good. It was a very comprehensive Japanese experience.

Excellent”
Although it's a little pricey, the amazing food, service, facilities and room definitely makes up for it. We stayed in the room with a private bath and it was a lovely experience. The location is great, not too far from the Hakone Yumoto train station. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience a traditional ryokan. We will be back one day!

Great place for relaxation in Hot Springs”
Hotel just a 10 min walk from the Hakone Yumoto train station, from this station you can connect with mountain train and many sightseeing bus. In our room window we can heard the sound of water running of the River. Hotel Dinner and breakfast are served in the room and perfect. Lot of souvenirs shop and restaurants nearby. Odakyu Hakone free pass is very convenient for people to and from Shinjuku, you need to pay extra for reserved train seat on the Romancercar ( 85 min ride each way)

Great location and a traditional setting”
The hotel is located very close to the Hakone-Yumoto station and close to a lot of the restaurants and shops. The onsen is clean and easy to use. The beds are futons laid over a tatami mat and the hotel offers free tea. Overall a good stay. I would recommend this place in Hakone.
