Old but worthwhile 4 star thanks to a fantastic onsen”
Old hotel in need of a renovation. Large family room (mix western & Japanese) with beautiful view of Hakone valley. Car is a must to reach it. Bath and toilet clean but old. Onsen is legendary worth a stay just to experience the true Hakone onsen tradition. Only Japanese breakfast available. Staff is indifferent, basic English only.
Compleful Onsen indoor and outdoor including to room charged. clearly understanding for guide with English Welcome. Eventhough not close to convenient store. just only the vending machine and restaurant last order on 9:30pm.
Excellent facilities especially Great for Onsen, but Dinner is not Kaiseiki”
I will recommend this hotel to those who love onsen. And the location is great, easy to find just right behide the Okada. The hotel was clean, the staff was nice but they couldn't communicate Eng well.
onsen was fantastic. breakfast was authentic Japanese with good variety. staff was very polite . ”
onsen was fantastic. both indoor & outdoors.. breakfast was authentic Japanese with good variety. staff was very polite & heloful. had a very enjoyable stay there. location was 5 min from hakone yamoto station. 100 yen public bus.
Price is very reasonable. Transportation not bad. Take mini bus A from station which is convenient. Need better improvement on hygiene of hot spring. Just so disappointed that hot spring is closed at 9am-11am. Breakfast also close at 9am. It will be too rush if you want to take breakfast and enjoy hot spring in the morning. Great if hot spring can be open before and right after check out time at 10am.
Big Japanese style room and nice hot springs!”
Firstly, the location of the hotel may not be really that convenient as it is way up the mountain. However, there is a shuttle bus that one can take from hakone yumoto station to okada hotel, and from that hotel to hakonenomori okada is just a short walk uphill. Hotel is a relatively small one when we arrived at the entrance. To my surprise, the Japanese style room we got is really quite big! I went with just one friend so the room is quite huge for us! There's a lot of space to move about, we got to stay in a ryokan, and sleep on tatami, which was really an experience for us. The hot springs is located just next to the hotel connected by a path on the 3rd floor, and I can gladly tell y'all that it was really nice! In a sense that the hot springs will revitalize One's being after having a hectîc trip. And you can keep going to the hot springs during your stay. 1 really nice thing, after we checked out, I sctually asked the counter if we can still go to the hot springs after we return for our luggage as we wanted to do some sightseeing in hakone, and the answer was Yes! How awesome is that! The counter gave my friend and I a coupon to go straight to the reception of the yu no Moto hot springs and we were able to go for another round of onsen before we head to Tokyo! => All in all it was a great experience! Recommended for everyone! *P.S. I didn't had any hotel food so I can't really comment. The foods look really good though haha.
Friendly and helpful staff and the Japanese room was a great experience. Great onsen facilities.”
Shuttle bus up the hill was provided and dinner in the Japanese restaurant was very good.
Booked this place for the onsen (Yu No Sato) and that's where I spent most of my time. Went there right after check in, after dinner and in the morning before breakfast. The hotel and rooms were good and clean but nothing really fancy. The staff was excellent and spoke English. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were pretty good. Appreciated that they came to pick us up and drop us off at the lobby of the other hotel so we wouldn't have to haul our luggage up and down stairs/steep hill. Since we were there to enjoy the onsen in the middle of nature, there's not much else around. But it's a 20min walk to town/5 min shuttle ride. You can also walk 5 min to catch the bus to Ashi lake. Be sure to stop by Amazake tea house on the way there.
Beautiful ozen hotel and spa”
friendly staff and the hot spring is clean and well managed
a bit isolated”
Hotel is uphill, needs to take cab to go to town area, unless you are driving. Restaurants in the town area are closed by 6.30 or so. They have only Japanese breakfast .. not even coffee. :( But Onsen/Sauna is good. Big room. Hotel is clean but a bit old and some strange smell in the toilet. <Hotel Management, please look into this> Staffs are helpful. Our stay was ok.
Lovely place in Hakone”
Good place with nice Onsen and Restaurant. Totally recommend it. Rooms are large and the view is great. This ain‘t no five star hotel, but certainly is charming, in particular for European tourists happy to be in Japanese spa hotel where normal Japanese go
Though the price is lower than others hotels, it doesn't worth the price.”
The location is poor if you do not drive. Theres also a steep slope before getting into the hotel. You need to take a taxi after 630. Shuttle vise service ends after 630. The room n the hotel is rundown.
Best and biggest onsen ever”
There is no doubt that Hakonenomori has the best onsen spa in the region. Very big, nature-friendly onsen ponds. Our japanese style room is much more spacious and comfortable than expected (of course with lower price than regional average price, you didn't expect too much). I will strongly recommend this hotel to guests who want to enjoy precious time in Hakone. Recommendation: Hotel staff should put cleared (bigger size) direction of how to go this hotel at the place where the bus drops customers.
peaceful and pleasant stay”
My husband and i loved our stay.It was only for two nights but it gave us enough time to see and do things in a more leisurely pace. The hotel is about half hour walk from the bus and train station.Upon arrival by train cross over the bridge and the information center is just slightly to the left (you can't miss it) and the bus stop is directly in front of it for the bus to the hotel. The info center will tell you the bus times and make sure you have change of 100 yen each for the driver can't change it.The hotel is very nice and the staff are very pleasant. We had arrived early and asked if we could leave our luggage in stead they gave us a room which was great to say that we were 3 hrs early. The rooms are quite spacious and had everything we needed. There was even umbrella's provided. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful. If you didn't want to walk in to the town there was always the bus that you could use.We did find one thing however and that is most of the restaurants were shut by six and it was in the middle of the week we did find a local one open at the back of the street and the meal was amazing and so were the owners. This is a beautiful place to stay and would recommend this area.
A cozy, mountain ryokan with a wonderful onsen.”
Our stay at this hotel was extremely nice. The hotel was a little hard to get to, but once we arrived it was so pleasant. We actually enjoyed the journey to the hotel by foot. The onsen is really nice here and has a few different spas. This place was a good spot to stop and stay before heading toward Mt. Fuji. I would stay here again if I came back to Hakone.
Remote, quiet respite during a busy week in Japan.”
Although it was a remote location requiring a couple shuttles to get there, the rooms were large and surrounded with beautiful trees and streams. Our boys had a Japanese style room which they loved. It requires some effort to get there from the station thus a 2 or 3 night stay would be preferable to experience the entire area. We were the only diners in the restaurant but the meal was superb. We must have misunderstood the breakfast plan and there was no opportunity to buy anything the following morning. The hotel responded to our e-mails prior to arrival and accommodated us in locating our two rooms close together.
One of the best hot spring ever!”
The best spa experience ever because the hot spring is located in the garden where you can see some mountain view. The hot temperature of the hot spring is tempered by the cold weather outside so it is the best combination ever. The hot spring even comes with jacuzzi as a bonus. I will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
It was a unique experience”
At first to go to the hotel was quite inconvenient because one has to carry their own luggage thru a rough walkway. Eventually, as one checks in and use the spa, one can have the best spa experience because the spa is located at a garden with several jacuzzis to boot!
Great japanese style rooms, great onsen/spa”
We stayed just for a couple of nights in Hakonenomori, but we were impressed by the size of the japanese style room (they dont have a number, but a name instead). The staff was very frindly and helped us finding a small bag that was left at the local bus on the way in to the hotel. The spa is awesome. A great number of non-guests were coming from other parts of town to enjoy it. Guests can also enjoy the public bath at the Okada main hotel.
Nice hotspring, nice environments, clean room”
It's actually alright to walk from railway which takes around 20 minutes but it's a bit of climbing. If you arrive late and don't prefer paying much for taxi, let's walk, and buy some food from 7-11 around railway station. We left early in the morning and the view is good all the way to railway. Hotspring is really good and clean. We booked japanese style which is interesting that you make your own beddings. A internet-ready PC is available. Overall, good price for a decent hotel. If you don't need to rush, good choice! If you want to go everywhere in limited time, choose one closer to railway station.
