the only issue is the location.”
its perfect for a Japanese style get-away. breakfast is ok, but for the location can be a bit far from public transportation.

Competitive price”
While the price is competitive, the location is rather off and require 100yen transport to the hotel and the timing is not exactly fixed.

good for onsen, though”
room condition was normal, without any friendly service. public bath was relatively terrific! they have several baths outside. meals were awful.... both dinner and breakfast were the worst in the ryokans with similar price.

Acceptable”
The place was hard to find and got mixed twice while using taxi. Taxi drove us to Okada hotel even after giving the address to them. The outside of hotel was not maintained well. I reserved rooms that have 2 twins and 4 futons but found out only had 3 futons and 1 less sheet. The restroom is very tight and small. Slightly unpleasant sewage smells. Doesn't provide bottle water. Staffs were nice. Facilities didn't match with what I paid.

Lovely resort with fantastic onsen ”
me and my wife stayed at hokonenomori okada hotel for a night on the way from tokyo to kyoto. heard a lot of good reviews about hakone. we took shinkansen train from tokyo to hakone-yumoto station. from there we bought 2 days hakone pass. we took a local train to hakone town and from there took local bus to hotel okada. we had to go through the hotel okada reception before reaching hakonenomori okada hotel which was at the back of hotel okada. the surroundings scenery was beautiful and full of greens. we enjoyed the natural, forest surroundings, cool air and quiet environment. the stayed at the japanese style room and to our delight the room was huge. the scenary from the balcony of our room was beautiful. the room amenities were essential and had a wonderful time there. the hotel provided onsen for their guests. the onsen was lovely. the only setback of the hotel was food as there were no shops around. we had to stock up food from hakone town for the next morning breakfast. at night we ate at the hotel's restaurant. food was fantastic but was a little expensive. we were expecting that as eating out in restaurants in japan was costly. overall we really had an enjoyable time in hakononomori okada hotel and would definately recommend it to our friends.

Big Japanese style room and nice hot springs!”
Firstly, the location of the hotel may not be really that convenient as it is way up the mountain. However, there is a shuttle bus that one can take from hakone yumoto station to okada hotel, and from that hotel to hakonenomori okada is just a short walk uphill. Hotel is a relatively small one when we arrived at the entrance. To my surprise, the Japanese style room we got is really quite big! I went with just one friend so the room is quite huge for us! There's a lot of space to move about, we got to stay in a ryokan, and sleep on tatami, which was really an experience for us. The hot springs is located just next to the hotel connected by a path on the 3rd floor, and I can gladly tell y'all that it was really nice! In a sense that the hot springs will revitalize One's being after having a hectîc trip. And you can keep going to the hot springs during your stay. 1 really nice thing, after we checked out, I sctually asked the counter if we can still go to the hot springs after we return for our luggage as we wanted to do some sightseeing in hakone, and the answer was Yes! How awesome is that! The counter gave my friend and I a coupon to go straight to the reception of the yu no Moto hot springs and we were able to go for another round of onsen before we head to Tokyo! => All in all it was a great experience! Recommended for everyone! *P.S. I didn't had any hotel food so I can't really comment. The foods look really good though haha.

Great japanese style rooms, great onsen/spa”
We stayed just for a couple of nights in Hakonenomori, but we were impressed by the size of the japanese style room (they dont have a number, but a name instead). The staff was very frindly and helped us finding a small bag that was left at the local bus on the way in to the hotel. The spa is awesome. A great number of non-guests were coming from other parts of town to enjoy it. Guests can also enjoy the public bath at the Okada main hotel.

Best and biggest onsen ever”
There is no doubt that Hakonenomori has the best onsen spa in the region. Very big, nature-friendly onsen ponds. Our japanese style room is much more spacious and comfortable than expected (of course with lower price than regional average price, you didn't expect too much). I will strongly recommend this hotel to guests who want to enjoy precious time in Hakone. Recommendation: Hotel staff should put cleared (bigger size) direction of how to go this hotel at the place where the bus drops customers.

LIke it very much, friendly reception!”
My wife and I like the japanese room very much. View is nice also. The reason we choose this hotel is it's hot spring facilities. It's clean and equipped to give us a relaxing moment. the room has no internet access, you have to use the lobby wifi to go online, which is not a problem to us where this suppose to be a get away vacation. However the hotel is a bit far, need about 5 minutes walk going thru Okada hotel and an uphill path.

Excellent facilities especially Great for Onsen, but Dinner is not Kaiseiki”
I will recommend this hotel to those who love onsen. And the location is great, easy to find just right behide the Okada. The hotel was clean, the staff was nice but they couldn't communicate Eng well.

peaceful and pleasant stay”
My husband and i loved our stay.It was only for two nights but it gave us enough time to see and do things in a more leisurely pace. The hotel is about half hour walk from the bus and train station.Upon arrival by train cross over the bridge and the information center is just slightly to the left (you can't miss it) and the bus stop is directly in front of it for the bus to the hotel. The info center will tell you the bus times and make sure you have change of 100 yen each for the driver can't change it.The hotel is very nice and the staff are very pleasant. We had arrived early and asked if we could leave our luggage in stead they gave us a room which was great to say that we were 3 hrs early. The rooms are quite spacious and had everything we needed. There was even umbrella's provided. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful. If you didn't want to walk in to the town there was always the bus that you could use.We did find one thing however and that is most of the restaurants were shut by six and it was in the middle of the week we did find a local one open at the back of the street and the meal was amazing and so were the owners. This is a beautiful place to stay and would recommend this area.

Lovely onsen, hard to find!”
Hard to find the hotel - you have to go through the hotel okada, take the lift to the 8th floor, walk quite a way inside and outside, and the hakonenomi okada seemed to have a different name in English (Pension Okada) on the signs. Once we were there it was very pleasant. You can use the neighbouring spa "Yu-no-sato" which has hot baths outside with a view of the mountains. We had booked room only which may have been a mistake because the hotel is some way from the town. However the spa Yu-no-sato had a restaurant where we dined.

Remote, quiet respite during a busy week in Japan.”
Although it was a remote location requiring a couple shuttles to get there, the rooms were large and surrounded with beautiful trees and streams. Our boys had a Japanese style room which they loved. It requires some effort to get there from the station thus a 2 or 3 night stay would be preferable to experience the entire area. We were the only diners in the restaurant but the meal was superb. We must have misunderstood the breakfast plan and there was no opportunity to buy anything the following morning. The hotel responded to our e-mails prior to arrival and accommodated us in locating our two rooms close together.

Awesome Onsen”
Booked this place for the onsen (Yu No Sato) and that's where I spent most of my time. Went there right after check in, after dinner and in the morning before breakfast. The hotel and rooms were good and clean but nothing really fancy. The staff was excellent and spoke English. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were pretty good. Appreciated that they came to pick us up and drop us off at the lobby of the other hotel so we wouldn't have to haul our luggage up and down stairs/steep hill. Since we were there to enjoy the onsen in the middle of nature, there's not much else around. But it's a 20min walk to town/5 min shuttle ride. You can also walk 5 min to catch the bus to Ashi lake. Be sure to stop by Amazake tea house on the way there.

Great onsens across the street”
As it was mentioned in many of the reviews, we took a cab to the hotel rather than try to get our luggage up the steep winding slopes at Hakone. The rooms were clean and decent. If there is one thing we would like to be better, it would be friendlier front desk. We did not see anyone smiled at all. However, that really didn't bother us that much as we only spoke to them on check in and check out. The available onsen across the street more than made up for the lack of warmth from the front desk. Location is relatively convenient since we only needed the cab for luggage. There is a shuttle bus service from Okada hotel (a short walk) to the station. We also feel that if the shuttle bus service was free that would also be a huge plus.

a bit isolated”
Hotel is uphill, needs to take cab to go to town area, unless you are driving. Restaurants in the town area are closed by 6.30 or so. They have only Japanese breakfast .. not even coffee. :( But Onsen/Sauna is good. Big room. Hotel is clean but a bit old and some strange smell in the toilet. <Hotel Management, please look into this> Staffs are helpful. Our stay was ok.

Great and relax environment”
Relatively close to the Hakone Yumoto station. You need to ride a shuttle bus to go to the Hotel Okada.
