Selightful voyage with few glitches”
Halong Bay is spectacular, and as the vessel moved through it we saw ever-changing and inviting views through openings between the islands into more distant spaces. If there is an opposite to "cramped," this is it. Our junk's interior had enough of that deep-red Vietnamese mahogany to create a warm, cosy feeling. Service was consistently first-rate, and the food good. One glitch was that I thought I had reserved a double cabin and ours turned out to have twin beds. I take some responsibility for this as I made the mistake of assuming that Annam would get that I would not have booked a double if I were traveling alone. I later made it clear that there would be 2 adults in the cabin, but that evidently got lost. We made do, and it was not a big deal. Annam appears to have three junks, two smaller ones, ours included, and a larger, mote attractive one, Number 35, which is what you see on their website. Like the other junk cruise companies, Annam showed the junk with sails hoisted. We only saw one junk on Halong Bay with sails up, Our boat had only two cabins with double beds, one of them being the suite on the stern. Our cruise supposedly included an hour of kayaking, which did not take place. Pick up and drop off were punctual and convenient.

Simply perfect!”
We upgraded our room to the Royal suite on the Annam Junk 5 cabin boat, we were thrilled to have spectacular panoramic views of Ha Long Bay to fall asleep to & wake up to, with our own balcony at the back of the boat where we could sit down & enjoy a glass of wine as we sailed through... The food was superb, plentiful supply, freshly cooked & served hot with a smile. The itinerary was well thought out and delivered like clockwork, visiting the pearl farm, squid fishing & making Vietnamese spring rolls were all nice little extra experiences. The crew were attentive, informative & well organised. All in all a great experience and would highly recommend Halong Annam Junk :-)

Excellent All Round”
Our family tends to spend more on food than accomodations, so I was not quite sure more than $200 a night for 2 twin beds was worth it--well it was! We had 2 rooms, one of the rooms had a double bed in addition to a twin, the family were very comfortable in both. The food, how do I put it?--was simply fabulous if you are a seafood lover! The many choices of fresh seafood and the vegetables were so tasty and pleasing to the eyes. A shrimp cocktail came with a bouquette made with carrot rose, two different types of flowers made with white radish, one with cucumber and one with long, thin red pepper--so lovely! The staff was also outstanding, pleasant and efficient even if it was a bit late at night. We had such a great time throughout the whole stay with Annam Junk. Oh, the only thing is that the van taking you to and from Hanoi city put you at a rest stop with 2 touristy stores--their prices are twice as much as what you will find in Hanoi, so don't make the same mistakes as we did. The water on the Junk is also about 4-5 times than the price in Hanoi. Other than these, enjoy your time with Annam Junk and say Hello to the staff for us!

Fantastic Junk”
Cannot fault the Annam Junk. The pick up was an air conditioned bus though long journey to Halong Bay we had a good driver and they stopped off half way. The tour guide was there to meet us, which took us to a small boat which then took us to our junk. Welcome drinks on arrival and so much food you just couldn't eat it all. They did include a few organised trips eg to a pearl farm and the caves, which were interesting. You also had your own free time which of course was nice. Breakfast included again very nice, and even a cooking class. So all up we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend the Annam Junk.

Beautiful, authentic junk with exceptional staff.”
We were collected as a group of 7 people travelling together at exactly the time allotted. The mini bus was cool and comfortable for the 4 hour trip, which included 2 toilet stops. The transfer to the junk was most efficiently handled with precision timing. Our room was very comfortable and although a very traditional, authentic junk it contained modern and well cared for amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would not hesitate in recommending the Halong Annam junk to friends and family.

Well worth the trip”
Annam Junk was part of a package which included transport to and from Hanoi. The staff on the boat were very helpful. The room was comfortable and quite spacious. All meals served on board were well prepared and there was more than enough for the 14 people. The seafood lunch was amazing. I arranged the trip to be in Halong bay on New Years Eve. The crew made it extra special by arranging a party from 9PM to see in the New Year. If you are planning to fly out of Hanoi straight from Halong Bay, it is advisable to take a later flight. I had a flight to Danang at 6PM and it was a bit of a mad rush to get to the airport on time, as the road between Halong City and Hanoi is extremely busy and the road condition is not so good.

Best time! Amazing scenery! Awesome guide Chuong!”
We really had the time of our lives on the Annam Junk. It's definitely a memory that will last forever. Firstly, the scenery in Halong Bay is incredible. Rain hail or shine, it is still amazing. We went for 2 nights on the boat and it was worth staying the extra night. Originally we began the trip with a total of 8 people on board, and the others were only spending 1 night. When they left I think I felt as if they didn't really have a chance to experience as much as they could have. So after the first night it was just me and my fiancee to spend the second night alone. Apparently this is extremely rare but we were lucky enough to have the whole ship to ourselves. The service by the crew was already really personal but now it was just even more so. The guide, Chuong, spent a lot of time tending to our needs and in his spare time just talking to us about the history of Vietnam. Very interesting. We spent a lot of time kayaking into hidden lagoons and sun-baking on the deck chairs, but i think our favourite thing was just being able to swim around the boat in the nice warm clear seawater. You will definitely enjoy yourself but make sure you ask for Chuong as your guide!

The VIP suite was amazing for a 3 star junk!”
I would recommend Halong Annam Junk's VIP Suite especially the 2nd one we had to transfer to cos we took up a 3D/2N stay. Initially I felt a little inconvenienced about having to transfer junk but the 2nd junk with a totally private deck and better shower facilities (I was surprised that the shower stall had jacuzzi jets though the water pressure was sporadic!) made the change of junk worth it! The bed was big & very comfortable with full length bay view! Beautiful sight to wake up to in the morning! I just wished Annam junk provided some shelter & more comfortable lounge-chairs on the upper common deck (the wooden ones provided were not comfortable after lying on it for prolonged period). Also, there should be more lounge-chairs provided so that at least every passenger can get one to lie on & enjoy the sun & breeze (the VIP deck though great, could get a little warm as i think the engine and kitchen is under the VIP room). I also like the size of this junk which accomodates not more than 20pax - good size for interacting with fellow travelers (more initimate) unlike some of the larger 3 storey junks which I imagine could get a little crowded & rowdy.

Very Nice cruise in the Halong Bay”
There are 4 Annam Junks, from 5 to 7 cabins (2 people). These small boats are ideal for a cruise in the Halong bay, you feel like your are on your own boat. The food and the service were excellent. The cruise includes visits of a cave and an island, kayak activites. Transfer from/to Hanoi was included in minibus. We spent a wonderfull time, we highly recommend this cruise. We could upgrade to the VIP suite when boarding, really nice!

Fantastic smaller junk with wonderful suite”
we loved our trip on annam junk to halong bay, we booked the suite room which has incredible views from the bed, the food was delicious. the only critcism i have is that we did not get to go kayaking, not due to inclement weather but due to the fact 4 irritating korean women did not wish to partake, so we missed out, majority rules i suppose, but overall a wonderful experience.

Excellent way to see Ha Long Bay”
We did a two night stay on the Annam junk and really enjoyed our time. The scenery is spectacular, but the same from any boat, so what makes a difference is the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff and guide, which couldn't be faulted. The junk looks perhaps a little scruffy on the outside from first impression, but inside it is well looked after, very clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic, fresh and plenty of it, almost too much! One thing I would say to English travellers, don't worry too much about the lack of English speaking skills on the emails you get from the company before the trip (I had grown a bit concerned trying to arrange a different transfer back from the boat) the actual guide is very good (ours was Ken) and was invaluable in making sure all arrangements went smoothly when we got back into port. Would recommend this to people who want a smaller more intimate experience than some of the other bigger boats we saw out there.

Fantastic Service”
we loved our cruise on halong bay and our time on the annam junk. the transfer from hanoi, however, was excruciating. there were 11 persons including a baby crammed into a van for a 4-hour ride to halong city. needless to say, this vacation is not designed for babies. the cruise company should have an age-restriction for the benefit of the other tour members.

we stayed one night with the halong annam junk boat and it was fantastic!! the service was outstanding and the boat was very clean. i am a vegetarian and all the meals were seafood but i wrote to ms. ngo and told her i was a vegetarian and she prepared another menu just for me. i would defiantly stay on this boat again!

Great Location but the Junk needed some attention.”
disappointed to find that our suite sea view had been double booked for our first night on the annam junk. we had to take a deluxe instead. the cruise ran to schedule with an informative guide on the first day. our stay was for 2 nights and we felt that we were a bit neglected after returning to the annam on the second day. as new passengers had been picked up on the second day we found that the program was the same as the first afternoon. a bit disappointing to have the same activities offered two afternoons in a row. also as there were only four passengers there was no english speaking guide with the boat. an english speaking guide was advertised with this cruise so that was a let down. the food was very good and the crew very friendly. i enjoyed my time on the annam with good value for money but i think they should pay a bit more attention to the needs of people taking a three day package.

the annam junk only has about 8 or nine cabins so it is quite an intimate way to experience halong bay. the crew was wonderful; the food was amazing and our guide was extremely helpful, making sure that our every need was met.

Lucked out”
They arranged for a pickup from our hotel in Hanoi which was very convenient. Checking in and checking out took too long with a lot of waiting around. But I suppose it was to get the rooms ready for the next round of passengers. We booked the junk for two nights and ended up having it all to ourselves on the second night. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. Our guide was great and spoke English fairly well. The food was decent albeit a little salty. The activities on the second day were well worth it. Our group had only 6 ppl and we kayaked for about an hour total in complete isolation and spend another hour on a private beach. It wasn't a luxury junk but we were in our rooms only to change and sleep so it was totally worth it. Halong bay is beautiful and he Annam Junk was perfect for our party of three.

Great Staff”
The boat was in good condition compared to others that I saw. Also if you do not want too big a crowd this is ideal as only about 16 people could be accommodated on this boat. The fewer people definitely allow for you to meet and mix with some of the other tourists on the trip which was great. The staff were great and our main guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I plan to revisit Halong Bay in the summer months and will definitely consider using Halong Annam Junk again.

Great stay on smaller cruise boat”
Second trip to Halong Bay and very happy with Annam Junk. The weather and visability were excellent while we travelled and this helped to make our cruise memorable. I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the boat and the service from staff, although most boats are painted white and dont put up the sails (only saw 3 larger cruisers which raised their sails, for decoration only)so dont expect what you see in web photos.
