Fantastic Sail Cruise through Halong Bay”

Food, Staff, Relaxing

We did the 3 day 2 night Halong Dugong Sail Cruise, they picked us up from the guesthouse and took off to Halong Bay, little drive and checked in the boat. Nice rooms, we had 3 people and booked through Agoda with an Extra Bed. Our friend didn't get an extra bed in our room but just got another private room with interleading doors, absolutely perfect ! First day is pretty touristy, You go kayakking which is alright for 30min, a cave (lots of tourist) and a beach & viewing point, lots of tourist too.. 2nd day was perfect, we got onto a smaller boat and they took us 2hrs somewhere where no other boats where. Did some kayakking, jumping off the boat, can visit a little beach and swim round. Bring a book or cards since you're there for like 4hrs. Relaxed :). 3rd day you go around Halong Bay, just cruising and back to Halong Bay. The food is absolutely amazing, really good food. They give you a table full of food for example; prawns, shrimps, calamari, morning glory, beans, rice, vegetables, springrolls, fruit, chips and heaps more. Definately enough. Worth the trip, friendly staff and just absolutely amazing if you do the 3 day 2 night.. When doing the 2 day / 1 night, you only see the most touristy stuff about Halong Bay, if that's what you wanna settle for it's good too..

Double retreat on Budget”

staff, food, lanscapes

The cruise of Dugong Sail saved my wallet one making booking via Agoda, we stayed at double cabin, it was nice, some facilities was not bad, simply and easy to use, The cabin accompanied with a window, so we could see many beautiful sceneries outside even we stayed at the cabin. It could take about over 3 hours from Hanoi to Halong Bay, but it doesn't matter for us and the guide told us many things about Halong Bay, some highligh activites like: Swim, kayak were great!!!

An must do experience with amazing staff”

Food, Staff, Views

Myself and two of my friends did the 2 Day & 1 Night package on this boat, we were picked up promptly from Hanoi on the start of the journey and then driven to Halong bay in a minibus. The guide on the bus was funny and had an excellent grasp of English. The ride takes about 4 hours, but you get a stop at a service station which has a little market in (the market is staffed, but they are just there to help and do not try and sell items to you). The boat itself was clean and room sizes are adequate and what you would expect on a small boat. The trip took us around Halong bay, stopping off at a tourist cave (which was full to the brim even in low season), and then we were given the opportunity to kayak around on double berth kayaks for about an hour. The next day we did a slightly longer boat trip back taking in more of the islands, and had a small cooking class of how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls. The staff were all excellent on the journey, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the drinks were reasonably good priced. Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable about most things. I would be happy to recommend this trip to any of my friends.

Pleasure Trip on Seasun Sail 3D2N”

Upon arrival at the port, I was transferred to another boat due to "maintenance" of Dugong Sail. As I just went for the cheapest available cruise, seemed nothing to lose, all in all it was a pleasant and leisure trip. However, I guess the 3D2N with 1 night on Catba Island should be a better choice for most than both nights on boat since they just sent you to another boat from 8am to 4pm the second day; not complaining as I did not wish to pack and unpack again. However, I was a bit disappointed on the kayak as they only provided 2 persons' kayak (instead of ! person lighter ones) and the kayak trips were limited to 30 mins on first day and 1 hour (guided) on the second day. I swam around the boat but the water was not at clean as they looked (saw many boats dumping water into the sea).

staff, cabin, food

the dugong cruise ran ok, cheap price, we enjoyed our trip for 2 days/1night and found that was ok. the cruise was normal but staffs were extremely friendly and thoughtful as well. the cabin was so so but a window was a highlight, the sundeck was a high point where we could see and sleep in the late afternoon. all the meals with seafood, drink could buy at the bar and not allowed for anyone who wanna bring drink inside the boat.finally, we came back with good mind.. and this is a truly and budget, cheap junk.

Really enjoyed my stay ”

The staff and tour guide, the social aspect, the room

Brilliant, I got the best room with a free bottle of red wine, a fruit basket and $10 off at the bar. The whole trip was really good my favourite part was kayaking around the islands I wish we had longer to do that. When we went to the beach the area for swimming was very small though. Even though I was a solo traveller it was easy to meat people in the dining area and having a smaller group meant that everybody got talking to each other and drinking together at night. Plus halong bay is just beautiful anyway.

staff, food, the guide

That was basically a good trip to Halong Bay(2 days/1night trip). I mentioned about that guide was helpful, he could have been spoken English better but he worked really nice, explain something that we did not understand clearly and slowly. The Cruise, i could supposed a good one, the food was not bad with enough food & seafood for 2 days of cruise. Well, It was nothing to much trouble as a budget wallet.

Nice cruise - fantastic views”

Punctual pick up and return. Friendly staff. Plentiful food.

We were picked up at our hotel right on time. The transfer was unpleasant, but I think this is the same for all as the main highway isn't used as they take you through the towns with a stop off at the humanitarian shop. Arrived at the port and transferred from bus to boat and set sail while having lunch. Views are fantastic. Food was ok and plenty of it. Drinks overpriced, but I think this is standard for all cruises. We were well looked after with a welcome fruit platter and drink vouchers. Kayaks a bit run down, but it was nice to be able to paddle around for an hour or so. Taken to all the usual tourist haunts, cave, pagado etc. But it was all about the Karstes.

Value for money”

Views, experience, cozy cabin

The boat does not look like the picture - although this seems to be a common issue. The famous Halong sails are non-existent. The trip was good overall but there was some serious mismanagement - a fellow passenger's journey was completely messed up and he was unable to follow the itinerary he had booked and paid for. The staff are friendly and well-meaning but are inefficient. The food was ok at best, we took plenty of snacks so were well-prepared. The kayaking and cave tour are great and it is one of the cheapest tours available; you get what you pay for.

cheapest from Agoda, we were well looked after

We were the only Agoda customers on this boat, and we paid less than the others who booked from the local agents. We were well looked after. All three cabins that I booked had a welcome fruit plate and wine bottle, which the others didn't get. The only downside is that for seafood, the fish they give is tilapia--a freshwater farmed fish, not fish from the sea. I was sorry for what the tour guides go through, as the local travel agents do a lot of lying to sell the cabins. When tourists come on board, the poor tour guides has to go through a lot of crap. If you go with Agoda, you get the cheapest rate and you get what you paid for. You will never get cheap price with the local agent.

Fun time”

Location, food, and kayaking

I booked two nights, not being sure what would be included. Turns out I had just joined a tour. Pros: Definitely stay for two nights, as the second day will be so much better. They take you on a smaller boat inside the bay, where it's secluded. We got to swim on a deserted beach and kayaked where no one else was. It was truly awesome. They also had better kayaks on the second day. Free transportation from Hanoi, but this is true of any tour. Cons: Price for two nights would have been cheaper had I booked a tour package from one of the travel agencies in Hanoi. The first day was crap, being shuffled through the cave and then Ti Top island. Probably one of the worse places to be in Halong Bay. The last time I went, I joined an actual tour for three nights, and that boat docked deep inside the bay on the first night, where it was secluded. This particular boat docks in the same spot as all the other tourist boats. Noisy party music playing at night.

Disappointed”

Halong Bay, meeting new people

Our overnight stay was cancelled due to bad weather. That is not the issue. They did not tell us until we were on the way even though weather had stopped trips all week. I would have liked the choice to make a booking for another day. 5 hours to get there on minibus. Put together with another group on a different boat - toilet was disgusting, no lid on system and had to put your hand in to flush it. Lunch was mediocre - rice, fish, tofu, squid, omelette, salad with bottled chili sauce. 3 and a half hours on the water - barely out from shore. Queues for kayaking so long some didn't do it. Quick tour through cave. Four and a half hours on minibus. Managed to avoid the loud, drunken party cruise passengers except when some were taking photos at the cave - time was restricted and they hogged most of the photo spot. Not sure that taking bottles of beer on the cave visit was best thought out.

This is my first experience spent my night at boat. The tour guide was very nice and accomodative. the room was clean but small (understand for boat). the food was nice just too little. we always find that our food is not enough for us. they should be more concern about the food arrangement especially in number as not every table can eat the same portion. but for the price, you can't complain anything.
