A place for complete relaxation. ”

A quiet place to visit away from the city. Just about an hour from Sapporo by bus.

We took a bus from JR station not knowing they have a free shuttle from Odori Park. The fare was cheap and we enjoyed looking at all the stops. Using waze when we neared Jozankei the bus stopped outside Jozankei Hotel. We should alight here as Hana Momiji is opposite Jozankei Hitel. But waze says it was still 1.3 KM away. There was no English name Hana Momiji outside the hotel. We alighted more than a km away. We walked and got lost. We arrived at an old folks home who telephoned Hana Momiji to come fetch us. When we arrived at Hana Momiji we could see it was opposite Jozankei Hotel. Checking in. The room was so spacious with tatami.mats. Can sleep six persons if needed. They had mattresses stacked in built in cupboards. We booked a private onsen for an hour. We stayed two nights. Both nights we had Kaiseki dinner and the menu was different. It was so good. The buffet breakfast had everything to make one happy. We will recommend everyone to experience this stay here. Onsen here is the attraction for all visitors. They provide free shuttle to Odori Park and we enjoyed the free shuttle. One of the most relaxing time of our life. Japanese hospitality at its best.

Upscale Jozankei experience”

This felt like one of the more upscale experiences we had in our driving tour of Hokkaido - Jozankei onsen resort area looks pretty impressive, the resorts in this area look amazing. Hana Momiji comes with a sumptuous kaiseki dinner which is why we chose it. They also have private (reservations at 2000 yen for an hour) & public onsens which were very enjoyable. Very spacious room and great service & facilities, and location was just around the corner of a shrine & public footbath (great for outside nighttime soaks). Also enjoyed the gyoza from the little restaurant run by an elderly couple next door!

Perfect ryokan stay with nice onsen and Kaiseki meals ”

Booked the free shuttle bus ride straight from the hotel website. Took around 50mins to reach the hotel/ryokan from NHK TV Tower. However, because we only reach the hotel at around 4pm, the slots for private onsen were all taken up. The public onsen by specific gender is not too bad. The room is of tradition Japanese style with futon nicely prepared for us when we were at the hotel's restaurant for the kaiseki dinner. There was wide spread of local delicacy with their local produce which is very tasty and fresh. And the hotel lobby offers free coffee or wine at certain timing. As it's not very crowded, it's quite relaxing to just sit at the lobby listening to the classical music played. To truly enjoy the real Japanese hospitality, you have to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan and I definitely recommend Hana Momiji! Thank you for the great stay!

Impressive and comfortable stay ”

We have stayed in a few “onsen” hotels before but Hana Momiji is the first one which allows us to enjoy three different hot spring baths. Both indoor and outdoor baths are clean and relaxing. Rooms are big and once again, clean and cosy. The included meals are of good quality - breakfast buffet with wide variety of food + different dishes for dinner during our two-night stay. We especially like the library and the free food & drink corner at the lobby. There are also jazz & classical music concerts for guests to relax. Convenient to travel around with own vehicle/free hotel shuttle bus. Short walk to a park with light festival at night.

Service, room size, great food

It was a great experience at Hana momiji. Their service is excellent. Room was unexpectedly huge and clean. The surrounding view is good as well. Hotel is also not too far from the bus stops from Sapporo and to airport.

Good location, good onsen”

We stayed at Hana Momiji to enjoy koyo, or autumn leaves, at Jozankei. We were not disappointed. Its easy to get to the various parks there, and the famous Futami suspension bridge is within walking distance. Also, we enjoyed the onsen at the hotel which we booked for private use. Will definitely come back again.

Exceptional”

The hotel is located in the heart of Jozankei, with shops and eateries in its immediate locality. Attractions are within walking distance. The room is clean and huge, meant for four guests. Breakfast is a buffet mixture of Japanese and western cuisine. Kaiseki dinner is worth every cent. Initially we were told that the complimentary bus back to Sapporo was full but later we managed to get seats in a half-filled bus. This was the only hiccup in an otherwise perfect stay at the hotel.

Very good sized Japanese family rooms”

Pros: big sized rooms, biggest of all the other Japanese family rooms during my trip. Cons: would have thought that hotel staff would help with my luggage but surprisingly, it’s self service here. Quite unexpected of Japanese hospitality or rather lack of it. Great sumptuous dinner but ordinary buffet breakfast. Still I would recommend a stay here if you are heading to Jozankei.

Xmas in Hokkaido”

Beautiful area, all covered in snow and snowing everyday we were there. I get the impression that most guests stay only 1 to 2 nights, we stayed 5 nights. The area is a bit remote so for such a long stay a car was a necessity. We hired a car at the airport and it was an easy drive on good roads to reach the hotel. Freezing outside, super cosy warm inside. The spa was great, the rooms very comfortable, the food was fun and surprising with something different everyday. The staff were all lovely albeit with varying levels of English. Plenty of places to visit, shopping was fun especially in Sapporo city and we learned a great deal about Japanese culture and food.

Unexpectedly Good”

We finally chose this hotel was simply because of the reasonable price with 2 meals when comparing with nearby hotel. The most impressive thing is the man at the front desk. He's very kind and considerate, he allowed us to have the room 30 mins earlier due to heavy rain outside. Room is big and clean, dinner is of high quality with this price, buffet breakfast with a good variety of food. Though there was many people in public onsen in the morning, the private onsen we reserved was excellent.

Amazing”

This hotel is clean, we enjoyed the onsens (we went to both public and private). Amazing Japanese style dinner - so much food that we couldn't finish. The room was by far the most spacious in Japan, we booked for 2 but could easily accommodate 6 pax. Love the cafe lounge where you can sit back while listening to classical music. Location is good too with bus stop right in front of it. Only thing be wary of the onsen tax (150 yen per pax) that is not included in agoda's price.
