Amazing staff and cheap, comfortable rooms”

Pro's: -Friendly staff willing to help with any requests regarding travel, the hostel, the city, etc. -Rooms are quiet despite the noise of Hanoi's Old Quarter; comfortable beds/bedding/pillows. -Great free breakfast with many options, cheap drinks available in the lobby all day as well. -Many resources for backpackers/travelers. Con's: -Some bathrooms are very hot due to lack of ventilation/fans. -Lack of a comfortable common-area to sit back and relax. Overall I had an amazing stay here, and even stayed 7+ days longer than expected due to the amazing staff, their willingness to teach me Vietnamese, and how they treated me like an old friend. Returning here from smaller trips always felt like coming home. Cam on!

The nicest hostel in Old Quarter with a really good atmosphere”

This is the best hostel that I've stayed at in the Old Quarter part of Hanoi City. The dorms are clean, beds are comfy and the breakfast is super. Also the atmosphere is amazing since they have a happy hour where all people get together and socialize. I stayed there twice and every time I end up getting introduced to lots of cool people. Hostel managers are super nice as well and they'll help you with whatever you need.

We stayed in Hanoi City Backpackers 2 nights then had a trip to Sapa for 2 days, then back to Hanoi and another night at City Backpackers. Overall experience was great! Fantastic location, breakfast to die for, helpful staff. One of the front desk assistants Katy helped us book our bus trip to Sapa and to Cat ba Island which was super helpful! She checked the weather to make sure we get the best time in the mountains and in the islands. We had great time! Thank you, Katy!!!

Huge, super comfortable bunk beds!”

Arrived at around 1AM, checked in with no hassle after pre-booking a private car pickup for $18 (a bit too steep for our usual budget but we were out of options. Another transport service quoted me $20++ for late pickup.) Unfortunately, we weren't able to stay in the room we booked since some of their guests extended their stay- thus we were moved to another room for the same price. On the upside, the bunk beds on their mixed 6-bed dorm were the hugest we've ever stayed in - in fact, two people can occupy 1 bunk bed because of the size. Love the super comfortable mattresses, individual lights and curtains for privacy. Shared bathroom was clean, a/c worked fine, and high ceilings were fantastic. Balcony was great. Free breakfast was good and delicious. Currency exchange, free information, tour booking provided. Absolutely love the super convenient location at the Old Quarter: walking distance to many famous places and restaurants in Hanoi.

Staff and location

It's located very centrally in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, not far from the lake. The staff helped us book our day trips to Halong Bay and Ninh Binh. The price was great compared to other similar hotels in the area, so I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Cheapest dorm in Hanoi”

Very good hostel with friendly staff. The dorm can host up to 12 people. You have curtains to keep some privacy. Prices for hotels in Hanoi are much more expensive than the rest of the country. For the same price we had double rooms in all the north of Vietnam. Their tour packaging are quite expensive.

Free Beer 6-7pm! ”

We found this hostel offering the cheapest fees at the time of booking. We were a bit hesitant but we decided to go for it. Glad we did as we had an amazing time! The staff were helpful and have a lot of information about Hanoi + trips nearby. The hostel offers free beer at night which was a great way to chat with fellow travellers. They also provide free walking tours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8am - we weren't able to attend though as we woke up late. Breakfast is included in the booking and you have a lot of options (pho, cereal, pancakes, etc. + coffee, tea, or juice!) Great stay! Highly recommend!

Nice place and good value for your money”

It is a nice hostel in the middle of old city. The staff is really nice and I was a bit impressed that they remembered my name. I got help with booking a train ticket and it worked like a charm. The room was clean and had a locker under the bed. There was only one thing I didn't like about the place and that was that you didn't get a key to your room. As a woman I don't feel comfortable sleeping alone in a room with a door that is not locked. I had two nights when I was alone in the room. I locked the door and got a wake up call at 5.30 AM when somebody wanted to get in the room. In the end I stayed here on two different occasions during my trip.

Excellent”

Place was great, as many reviews said it is a hotel vibe at a hostel price. Staff is friendly, remembers your name, and free breakfast and happy hour is a plus! Dorms have curtains which allow for good privacy. The one caveat is that I was in a dorm room when the staff was in there cleaning one morning, and they didn't change the linens of the bed (or even pillowcase!!) from the last traveler, just sort of smoothed out the bed sheets and then a new traveler checked into the bed. Kind of grossed me out a bit as you don't know how many dirty people have slept in the beds before you and it doesn't seem like they are changing the sheets in between travelers...

Fair Price, Clean Room

the staff was friendly and helpful. a simple but good breakfast was included. it has a great location. it is right in the middle of the old quarter. the aircon was not perfect, but it did the job just fine. however, we did find hotels nearby that were arguably cheaper and a little nicer. basically you would be fine with this hotel, but there might be better deals nearby.

Great value for money, big clean room, attentive staff

I had a pleasant stay. Location is great as it's right in the old town but the street is not as noisy as most other streets in the area. I pay $12 for a big big room which was a great value for money. The owner cooked me an omelette on crusty Vietnamese bread for breakfast which was yum. The hotel was clean and the staff members were friendly and attentive. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hanoi.
