Located in the Old Quarter”
➕ - Very close to numerous shops and affordable restaurants | AC works well | toilet and hot shower were fine ➖ - Small breakfast | no lift | old-fashioned room lock| need to request staff if you want your room cleaned | small room; it felt like you’re in a hospital ward | male night shift staff often played mobile games while on duty; a little rude too especially when he doesn’t understand what you’re saying, he’d just say “I don’t know!” in an unfriendly manner; he also unnecessarily laughed at my tour guide when he picked me up at an incorrect time; in another situation, he told me to go downstairs from the 3rd floor to meet my guide when he could just hand over the phone so I could talk to him
right in the middle of the action”
location attached to a bar and right in the middle of all the action so it can be quite noisy at night. had a private room. room and bed were nice and comfortable. bathroom....wow. toilet buts up against the wall so you have to sit sideways to do your business. its a wet room so toilet shower sink are all in a 3 ft radius. so cramped. room as decent ac.
The single room is designed for backpacker, room is small, but the bed still comfortable to sleep, may be because thickness of blanket on the right and air-cond placed on the right. The bathroom is not small, and very clean, have hot water, hair dryer, is okay for me.
Dear Mr. Tan, Thank you so much for your kind to choose my hotel for your stay as well as your nice review about my hotel. I wish my single room was bigger. I am so happy to know that you were satisfied with us. It is so kind of you. Thanks to your kind we will keep trying our best to offer better service to the next coming guests. I do hope to have another chance to serve you again if you come back Hanoi. Have a nice day!
Nothing special but in the middle of old quarter and staff is nice.
Convenient and cheap”
Helpful staff, great old town location and non expensive.
Overall, would recommend”
This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to pretty much everything you want to see in Hanoi. Only negative about the location is that is on a street with lots of bars, so there is loud music. The music seemed to end around 12:30/1am, so it didn’t bother us too much. Room was clean and very spacious. Staff were nice and helpful. WiFi is not good, we had to sit in the reception area to use it. Free breakfast is nice, although not very filling.
Value for money and the location ”
Overall ok. Friendly staff. In middle of old quarter. So great location for a tourist. Most of the significant places around the old quarter were walking distance from this hotel. The map was given by the hotel manager was very helpful. As well as the manager arranged some day trips for a reasonable price as well. Beds and room just ok. Overall value for money.
Tiny room but functional. Bathroom good size. Location is correctly indicated. Entrance is in a tiny side alley. They have some lighted advertising at the entrance of the alley, entrance is just 2 meters away. If you walk east, entrance is on your left hand side.
Hi, Thank you so much for your kind to choose my hotel for your stay as well as your nice review, I am so sorry that the single room is smaller than expected. You were very kind when you stayed in my hotel. I do hope to see you again if you come back Hanoi. Once again, thank you very much and have a nice day! Mike Do!
Very nice stay. Location was perfect for me. Good room and service. Lovely and helpful staff.

Great budget option”
Mike was very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. A good budget option for a few nights in the heart of the old quarter.
Good service, happy people

Living near a noisy Disco”
Booked a single room and had 9 sq.meter without window and a door who let the light in. From 2 pluges only could use one. Change in a bigger room for mire money and sleept 3m far away from the Opera Disco. For people they like to fall in the nightlife and streetlife this is a good place.
Excellent price for the location ”
Excellent hotel choice considering the price and the location in the Old Quarter. I especially recommend this hotel for a solo traveler that wants a private room. Incredibly kind and helpful staff. Sufficient breakfast. Comfortable beds and pillows. Noise does travel up the stairwell quite easily, but subsides after 11pm for the most part.
Great location but not if you're a light sleeper! ”
This hotel was right in the middle of the old quarter near awesome restaurants, great nightlife and the lake. The owner was very friendly and helpful and tried to help us with tours. Our room was large (family room was the cheapest?!) the twin was awesome but the queen was hard as a rock. Luckily my boyfriend likes to sleep on that kind of bed! A/c worked well but was a little noisy. Didn't mind that as it masked the nightclub music across the street from 10pm-2am. We didn't mind the music but if you are a light sleeper maybe you'd like to pick another place. Coming in late was no problem as someone's always downstairs. Definitely recommend!
Lovely helpful owners”
There was not a lot on offer when we booked in january in Hanoi and we found the discovery. The owners were so honest and helpful with everything from Sapa to Halong Bay and a taxi to the airport. They did not push their tours on us but rather listened to what we wanted to do and helped The hotel is in a very busy area of bars that have loud music till 2am. The owner has put in sound proofing which helps. They also have another quieter hotel that we found out you can request. I'd stay again the owners and location where fabulous.
Decent place to crash for the night”
The solo room has the bare necessities. Airconditioning, bed and hot shower. TV has no cable. Okay for a place to spend a night or two if you'll be out the whole day. A bit hard to find though, because it's in an alley, but all around very accessible. Near Ta Hien where a lot of the street bars are and Ma May where some good cafes are located. Walking distance from Hoan Kiem Lake and the puppet theater. The couple who ran the place were pretty nice. The man was affable, the woman was a bit aloof at first, but will warm up to you eventually.
Great friendly staff”
Enjoyed our stay here , great staff , breakfast not brilliant but for the cost very happy!! Had a pare bed in the toom with lots of space and a hot shower ! Awesome location right in the centre of old town , and bit far from the lake , we even left our bags here for 3 days while we went to sapa.
I spent 5 nights there and I can recommend it. The whole family providing hotel is very helpful and kind. Hotel is located in Old quarter on not so busy street (but in the evening are all streets of OQ busy). For low budget trawellers excelent choice. Even breakfast was included with tea / coffee. I had rented motorbike and parked it there without a problem. The boys helped me with parking every time.
Great location, Friendly Owner, Spacious Rooms, Balcony, Fridge”
This hotel was great in a bunch of ways. The owner was really friendly and nice, the room was spacious and the location was central. However, after we returned from our Halong Bay Tour, the hotel had overbooked and told us we were unable to stay the night. This was really annoying since we'd booked 4 days in advance! Although the staff (not the owner) was kind of helpful in trying to find us somewhere else, we ended up waiting for 45 minutes before he told us all the other hotels were full. Not happy. We read another review that said a couple booked a Halong Bay tour somewhere else (not with the hotel) and were given the same treatment (IE: they were "booked out" when they returned) so just beware. We booked somewhere else through Agoda, but when we turned up, they were full too. Safe to say we eventually found somewhere to stay, but wasted almost 2 hours doing so. Breakfast at Hanoi Discovery Hotel was okay. They serve toast instead of Baguettes which wasn't that nice. The pancakes were deep fried.... but over all can't complain. Breakfast filled you up for the morning. Also, expect the nearby clubs to be pumping 'till midnight. We were fine with the noise (noise doesn't usually bother us) but if you can't sleep with loud noise this place might not be for you.
It's an OK hotel”
It was ok aside from the fact that I was assigned the upper bed, I'm a very short Asian girl and the bed was sooo high making it difficult for me to climb. Good thing I only stayed there for a few hours.
