Personalised and friendly service, will definitely stay again!
I stayed for 3 nights at Golden Moon and each member of staff made the stay very enjoyable; always welcomed with bright smiles and they were ever ready to assist. Special mention to General Manager Mr Peter Lee who was such a gentleman and carried my luggage and personally showed me to the room the second night I came back. Trang the front desk lady who was also a joy to see at breakfast and the very kind gentleman (who's name I forgot!) who very sweetly upgraded me to a double bedroom on my first night. Last but not least, the arranged driver who picked me up from the airport was also very courteous and friendly and we made it back to the hotel in record time. It is an excellent location in the heart of the old quarter and very close to Hoan Kiem Lake and 5min walk to the hustle and bustle of the night markets, local tour services and the infamous beer corner. The rooms very very clean and welcoming, I slept like a baby! Breakfast selection was also wonderful - definitely try the pho and the banana honey pancake! Great selection of fruits too. I love that they offer both traditional Vietnamese and Intercontinental/Western menu items to cater for varied tastes. I will definitely be coming back. Mr Lee also very kindly gave me a parting gift - a small lacquer plate Hanoi is infamous for. Thank you, Mr Lee! See you soon!

Excellent service and location!
Located in Hanoi's old quarter along one of the main roads with plenty of cafes & great food options to be found all along the street. Pharmacy (that didn't overcharge me) & Viettel shop (which has a 100,000 dong tourist SIM, staff spoke practically no English, be warned...) just a few doors away. Lake is also nearby and reachable on foot in roughly 5min. Wifi is accessible on every floor; my 5th floor single room (and bathroom!) was clean, perfect for 1 person & had everything needed for a comfortable stay - aircon with easily adjustable settings, complimentary bottled water, safety box, kettle, toiletries & hairdryer. Room was bright and cheery thanks to the large street-facing window running along one length of the wall and despite this was reasonably quiet. As others have noted, lift only goes to the 5th floor, and the 5th floor has no 'down' button. If you are on the 5th floor & want to head downstairs, either walk all the way down or head to the 4th floor and take the lift the rest of the way. Staff were always cheerful, friendly and helpful, and they served a welcome drink of fresh juice & cut fruit on arrival. Breakfast was basic and good for those in a rush, although breakfast hours end early at 9.30am - not good for those wanting to sleep in. Overall had a great stay & will be back the next time I'm in Hanoi

Minor comment on ventilation chamber that created bad smelling air occasionally.

Excellent service & very good location!
We enjoyed our stay here. The service and location was excellent. Room was nice, clean and quiet. Staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. Only downside is that we found the bed to be too hard so we couldn't get much sleep as we are used to more modern and softer beds in North America. So if you are a light sleeper and more used to softer beds or beds that are not too hard then you might want to re-consider. This hotel is a bit older and shower is a bit outdated but still working good/well. Overall a great stay and good value for what you are paying. We will probably try to stay in a newer hotel with softer beds next time :)

Great service, excellent location
Great stay, though only for one night because they were full the next. The travel desk (Peter) was a huge help, and even though we switched hotels we went back to book our tours for Halong bay and Mai Chau.

Best hotel so far
I've visited Hanoi a couple of times but this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in - good service staff and well-maintained room. The staff and boss were very friendly and helpful in advising us on the places to visit. They went out of their way to make arrangements with the tour operator when we only decided on the day tour to ninh binh the night before. Stayed there for 2 separate nights. They allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel for the night we left for a 2d1n trip to Mai Chai. When we returned, we were pleasantly surprised that they have upgraded our room (bigger room with nice street view) for free. On our last day (when we return to collect luggage after having checked out in the morning), they offered us an empty room to shower and washing up before we head for the airport. We had a great stay at this hotel would highly recommend it for their excellent service and location (:
