Clean guesthouse with a scenic view of Vang Vieng”
The Mountain Riverview Guesthouse lies just a small walk away from the Nam Song River in Vang Vieng. The guesthouse is very spacious with several stories (although no elevator). I was staying in a room on the 3rd floor, and it had a spectacular view of the Nam Song River and the mountains scattered around Vang Vieng. It was relaxing to just sit on the balcony and watch the view. My room was spotless and had nice, white bed sheets and covers. There was a small TV with several cable TV stations, a few of which were in English. The only thing I didn't like about the room was the bathroom, which in typical Asian fashion didn't have a shower curtain, meaning the whole bathroom got soaked when I took a shower. Vang Vieng is tiny, so practically anywhere you stay will be close to the other points of interest. This guesthouse lies just a short walk from where all of the infamous river bars once were (which were all boarded up when I was in Vang Vieng). The guesthouse is a short walk down the road it's located on, so the area is super quiet. Walking from the hotel to all the other hotels and restaurants in the main area took no longer than 3-5 minutes. The guesthouse had free wi-fi while I was there, but I never tried it. It also had internet-connected computers in the lobby, which were good enough for light internet surfing. The only other downside to the guesthouse is the price. $17 per night may sound cheap, but there are countless other hotels, guesthouses, and bungalows all for around $5-10/night. I'd happily stay in the Mountain Riverview Guesthouse if I were to return to Vang Vieng in the future, but I think I'd look around for cheaper accommodation first. All in all, it's a good hotel that will keep you very comfortable during your stay in Vang Vieng. No major complaints here.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Riverview Guesthouse... Was slightly hard to find at first but just its not far from the Terrace restaurant so just ask for that... Rooms were nice and we had a television. Stayed for three nights and we didnt have any maids change anything which didnt bother us and sure they would have if asked. Only has WIFI in reception. Hotel is near the island bars so if noisy at night but this is the same as the whole of Vang Vieng. Just bring an ipod or Earplugs and you'll be fine

Quite pleasant & clean”
i found vang vieng to be a surprisingly run down, dirty, and uninviting town (esp. after being in lauang prabang), so i didn't expect much from my hotel (so many of the ones in town looked like dives). but the room was really quite decent, a good size, i had a view of the river & mountains (so good name!) and the shower was strong and hot. so i was happy. it also was at one end of town, so quiet. i have no idea how it compares to others in town, but i'd say it's good value for the money.

Perfect location and service with a smile”
We stayed here on NYE and it was great. All nearby restaurants, bars and renting tubes within 5mins walk but still far enough that you won't here their noise! Hot shower and little balcony to look over the Vang vieng muontains.

Nice place with lovely rooms”
This guesthouse is located a little bit away from the main strip of bars in Vang Vieng - about a 3 minute walk. But that bit of distance is well worth it in terms of the more peaceful atmosphere at the guesthouse. Rooms were nicely furnished but the bathroom was a little old fashioned. View from the balcony was super.

Great Views, Good location and not much more”
Vang Vieng, backpacker stronghold, has calmed down quite a bit. Still, location at end of town is a plus if you appreciate peace and quiet at night. Room was large and views are glorious. There's not much else to say abut the hotel. Room basic, (think fluorescent light and a few sticks of furniture), AC worked, as did the TV with a few English channels. OK for the price

Gorgeous view”
The view from the room was stunning (keep in mind, they do have rooms on both sides of the hotel, we had a view room on the third floor). Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, but rooms were not cleaned daily nor were new towels provided (unless you ask). The Agoda map shows this hotel (and many in Laos) in not quite the right location since addresses are streets only, no numbers. This hotel is on the north end of town which makes it more quiet. The entire town is within 10 minutes walk. We would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Mountain River view... not so much but the room is nice and the guesthouse is located in a nice area where you can walk around to the restaurants, bars and the tubing center. They have coffee provide in the morning. the laundry service is very fast but the staffs sometimes seem as if they don't really know what they are doing. But the guesthouse is nice, quiet and safe.

i stayed here 3 nights. it was clean, quiet and restful. i had a balcony with a view of the mountains and river and sunsets. they could upgrade for very little expense. there is no place to hang your clothes nor anyplace to put your suitcase but on the floor.

Amazing views! Good location”
Lovely place in the more quiet part of the town, but still walking distance to everything. Just by the river with no big buildings in front which gives the greatest views of the valley from the balcony. Make sure you ask to get one of the rooms facing the mountains/river as half of them has street view only. My room was big and nice (not very clean though). I stayed for two nights but there was no cleaning, change of towels etc. The receptionist was always sleeping on his fold-out bed on the floor in the reception (no matter what time a day, I got there at 7am, 1 pm and 6pm - he was always sleeping). It was a bit annoying to have to wake him up every time you needed him, as he seemed quite annoyed to have his all-day sleep disturbed.

Stayed for 2 nights and loved it. Nice clean rooms and the view , especially at sunset was unbelievable! Easy to walk to restaurants and tour places, and easy to retreat to for quiet time.

Cracking mountain view!”
ideally located about 5-10 minutes walk from the main strip but still next door to shops, restaurants and other guest houses. shared a twin room with a friend; very good size and large bathroom too. the decor was dated, not that that bothered us at all. only negative was that when we stopped the fan the room smelled like it had been smoked in for a number of years. however, had we not stopped the fan we never would have known this. could only get wifi in the hotel's reception but there were two computers available for guests' use. a little more expensive than the majority of hotels near by but for a night for a twin it's certainly good value for money.

Pleasant stay with beautiful view ”
Stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed it. Our room had a gorgeous river view with balcony, rooms were big and spacious. Water not too hot and wifi doesn't work in rooms. Other than that pretty pleasant!

Nice, Comfortable and just outside the town bars”
The rooms were quite big and tidy. Views from our balcony were brilliant too. Not exactly secure at the front desk in that anyone can grab your key if you leave it with them while out tubing but otherwise it was perfect

Cozy rooms with an awesome mountainside view”
Loved the location of the guesthouse, top of the hill looking out across the mountains. Small tuktuk ride to tourist locations. 2 min walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Chill hotel staff. Highly recommend

Wi-fi didn't work. Staff ignorant”
The main good thing was the view from the balcony. But the windows had ugly nets and gratings on them which made the view from the room not so good. Wi-fi didn't work for about 2 days, but staff didn't really care about that even though I complained. They said "it's working on my phone" and that's it. Finally they realised there really was some problem and did something and a new network appeared that worked. But they didnt tell me about that. I had to find that on my own, passing by the reception by chance.
