Poor building maintenance and an even worse customer service ”
I indicated in my booking request that we’ll check in between 6-7am but when we arrived, another guest opened the gate for us and said the receptionist was still asleep. After ringing the doorbell a hundred times, the receptionist finally came out - obviously just woke up. The check-in was ok but he never looked at any of us in the eye while talking for the whole three days we were there. He was either looking at the monitor or his phone, which I thought was rude. He also never greeted us whenever we get back from the daily tours, which I think is basic customer service etiquette. The rooms are ok but not worth the price. Yes, even if the price is low, it is not worth all the hassle of poor building maintenance. There are AC units in the rooms but no electric socket near it so they used low quality extension cords which were not even readily there - each of us had to request separately. I booked three quadruple rooms with bathroom. Room 1 has that awful sewer smell so we asked if we can have another room and they transferred my uncle’s family to a room for 6 where the shower heater wasn’t working and the AC unit was not enough to cool the room. Room 2 had no bedsheets so again, we had to request. They had to go back a couple of times just to bring the right size of the bed sheets. Room 3 was ok at first but when we got back from the tour, there was a huge leak in the shower that made the shower heater grounded so we didn’t have a heater since then. The staff was responsive enough to act on our concerns but it wouldn’t have been the case if it was a properly functioning guest house. Imagine entering the room for the first time after having no decent sleep due to a very early flight schedule only to get a room that smells like a dead rat; or coming back from a tiring tour wanting to freshen up but you got electrocuted from the shower and had to wait for the staff to disconnect the heater so you can at least bath in cold water. Point is, we booked a room to take
wifi didn’t work, room was too small, 1 locker for 4 people, shower didn’t work, mattress was so thin! Only upside was nice staff

Value for Money”
The price is really cheap! I only payed 126 per night for a 4bed dorm room so I wasn't really expecting anything special about the place. I was traveling and exploring the city during the day so TV and WiFi connections didn't bother me at all. The location is very close to the butterfly garden, Baker's Hill, Rancho Mitra, and Crocodile Farm. I didn't had any problem with transportation. The staff is really friendly and very accommodating. Downside: Food is expensive. It would be better if you eat outside.
This hotel was a nice surprise. The staff were knowledgeable about the local area and the food was good. It’s in walking distance to the Butterfly Garden which is a beautiful place to visit. The butterfly garden is nice and going close to sunset will give you a great opportunity to take some photos of the resting butterflies.
No power and No respect”
electricity was out leaving no air conditioner and no wifi. we had a group of bloggers who needed to post so you can well aware guess that it wasn't good. then we checked out a day early and they kept our full an=mount or money saying we cancelled at the last minute but they failed to see out of 2 large family rooms, we booked a third large room at last minute and that was fine for them. i should have gotten that last day refund sin4 we added a third room and bout lots of food in their restaurant. they failed to see the value in having 12 people eat there
Worst Hotel in Palawan”
It’s a small hotel not recommended for family. The AC is too small which cannot accomodate to cool down the room so we requested an electricfan. The room Full of Ants everywhere, the pillows and beddings are old. The staff entering to your room when you are not inside and they will take your food even its securely sealed and not even open yet. When you asked them they will jus say they took it to avoid ants what a lame excuse. Wifi not working. Breakfast is too expensive to what they serve. I will never go back to this hotel ever.
Nice modern look”
Nice place to stay cozy and accessible. People (owner) are accommodating. With good facilities just a little far from the new airport took us 15-20 minutes ride
We had a good stay here, helpfull and attentive staff, cheap motorbike rentals (brand new bikes), basic but clean room. Only real negative is that it's pretty far from the center of town.
Extremely good value for money! Highly recommended!”
I enjoyed my short stay at Happy Time Palawan Guest House. The Polish owner, Tomas, was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. He even knows everything about Puerto Princesa City and willing to extend help in booking for a tour. Even the manager, Merza, and the staff were very friendly. They will treat you as if you're not a guest but a friend. Happy Time Palawan is accessible to public transportation, walking distance from Butterfly Garden, very peaceful and quiet. The room was clean. The toilette was spacious and has strong water pressure. Overall, I am satisfied and will stay again when I get back to Puerto Princesa City. Highly recommended!
