Cute ambiance and nice staff ”
The hostel is super chic and fun! This got me from the first look. The location is right along the busy street but I’m not sure how much this can be avoided. Short walk to the night market, clocktower, restaurants and bus station. The room was a bit dingy but not something I would complain about. Our AC broke upon returning from a long day in the sun and the night staff moved us right away without question! Great recovery!

+ Large and comfortable family room, good mattresses, aircon, every day cleaning and changing towels, very "instagrammable" design, choice of four tasty and filling breakfast options, friendly staff. Fridge and kitchenware available at every floor. - The hotel is located approx. 10-15 min walk from the Night Bazaar, and on part of the road the pavements are absent - so this is not a very comfortable walk, especially with kids. You can take a tuk-tuk from Night bazaar for 50-60 baht though. Don't take road-facing rooms if you are sensitive to noise at night and if you plan to sleep late in the morning. Even on the top floor you can hear the cars very clearly, and from 8 am the construction works start on the sites nearby.

Hostel was located at the big Road, at night there was a lot of motorcycle racing along the road. There's a little pungent smell, not sure is it the floor cleaner smell or something else. Overall the hotel is clean and nice.

          Decoration is superb!”
I felt in love with this hostel's decoration since I first saw this on website and probably couldn't wait to stay there. What i liked and disliked during my stay in private double room are; what I liked - hostel & in-room decoration - a very helpful and friendly staff - few choice of breakfast but it well prepared so we really appreciated it. what I disliked - Bathroom: Toilet is so so but bathroom is kind of horrible. Shower is rusty and I think there is some mold on bathroom's floor. - Not enough outlet in room. They should have outlet on both side of bed, not only one. - Noise protection is quite bad. My room is facing to the street so we can hear car noise all night. My husband couldn’t sleep because of it.

We only stayed for one night but did enjoy the room and the place as a whole. It was, however, one of the pricier places we stayed at (almost double what we paid on average throughout SE Asia) and it wasn't noticeably nicer than other places we stayed. Enjoyed our stay though, thanks!

          Adorable but Quiet ”
I spent one night at Happynest to catch a morning flight out of Chiang Rai the next morning. The staff did well negotiating a half day deal for a scooter and helping me book a taxi to the airport the next morning. They could have been more informative on the attractions in the area. I missed out on seeing the White Temple because it was closed when I got there. I told the front desk I wanted to catch it around sunset and he suggested getting there around 5:30. Spoiler alert: it closes at 5. It was my mistake but a warning would have been nice. Overall the facilities were nice. As is customary is most hostels, beds weren't the comfiest and common spaces were slightly messier than they appeared in the pictures. The location was fine, you aren't in the center of everything but the walk isn't bad. The atmosphere was very quiet at first but picked up a little later in the evening when people got in for the day. Overall it was a decent stay and average value. Bike rentals and airport transfers aren't included and the breakfast is just cereal and toast. I'm not sure if you can find any better in Chiang Rai, it is kind of a sleepy town to begin with.

          Far from everything”
Stayed a couple of nights. The place is at least 10-15 minutes walk to anything. There's not even a cafe close to the hostel. ( and the hostel doesn't offer breakfast. Not even if you want to pay for it). The one thing is that the place is very well decorated, new and clean. Though, bunkbeds make a lot of noise when someone moves. Staff is not particularly engaging. They sit at the front desk, if you need something they'll give it to you. But don't expect much conversation, tips or advice of cool things/markets happening in the city. Overall, I feel this place is a bit overpriced for what you get.
