Near Rizal Blvd where the port is located. Free coffee and water. No wifi in the room we stayed in. We had to go in the roofdeck to use wifi but we didn't mind because we also had coffee while hanging out. No elevators.
Value for money and good location”
Hotel has good location, near port going to Siquijor and buses going to bais. Place is very cheap but room are not that clean, lot of dust and bedsheet has visible stains. Breakfast is not that good, just bread and rice and coffee, the rooftop - where the breakfast is - quite look old and dirty. Nonetheless, still value for money
There was a scheduled power outage in Dumaguete but they did not inform us ahead. Their power generator didnt work so there was no water and electricity starting 7am. We had to check out at 9am. I requested for compensation since they couldnt fix their generator and we couldnt take a shower or use the toilet. Front desk just said no they cant provide credits.
Budget hotel ”
Nice hotel, unlimited coffee, tea and have water dispenser in every floor. They have a chilling spot on their rooftop with garden with fruits, veggies and flowers. More on organic. The staffs are very accommodating. Always smiling and greets you. For those who wants a budgeted hotel and tour to apo island Harold’s mansion offers a good service! Visited June 28-July 02
Nice location ”
they have clean rooms, only missing is hanger.
I booked a room for my friends and they had a great time at Harold's Mansion. They particularly liked the proximity of the property to the city. It's accessible to almost everything. The staff are receptionist are very friendly. The rooftop garden is also a plus. They had a great time.
We had a hassle-free stay in Harolds Mansion. The staffs were very accommodating and I love their free Filipino breakfast that includes sticky rice. ❤️ They also offer Apo Island tour which is really worth it! (Free meals, free transfers and expert guides)
Convenient location, clean facilities, POOR a/c and WiFi ”
Super convenient location makes using tricycles a breeze. Bathroom was also the cleanest I’ve experienced in this price range. BUT a/c was terrible, didn’t blow at all no matter how high it was set (100x worse than having a fan), and could never connect to WiFi. Also Globe 3G signal was extremely spotty.
The smell of the room is not welcoming. No wifi in rooms. ”
Harold’s dive center is here so I booked a room here. I would not recommend this place if u want a comfy room to relax. No wifi in rooms, The smell of the room is not welcoming, sticky floors, no towels provided, (but u can rent their towels for a 500 deposit, which is rediculous), the food i ordered came in after 40 mins waiting, and the food wasnt that good. Breakfast is fine except the plates have ants. Spacious room but i think its really important to have wifi in every room specially for solo travelers like me.
Almost derelict ”
I've stayed in Harold's for every year that I visited Dumaguete. I've also recommended it to dozens of friends. It was only this year that I was disappointed with the service because of facilites that are run-down, damaged and were not repaired. The aircons don't work well -- our room had a nonresponsive remote. Our mattress had a rip where a piece of spring jutted out and scraped my husband's leg. The pillows are not safe for those with dust allergies. And worst of all, they recommend that guests use the shampoo and body wash they provide in their bathrooms, which smelled like sewers. They should throw all those away. The rooms are also oddly shaped and the furnishings were awkwardly arranged. There is so much space inefficiently used. There is also bad ventilation in the rooms where the bathrooms do not have windows. Overall our stay was bearable, thanks to airconditioning, hot shower, and free breakfast and wifi. But I think this is the last time I will stay at Harold's.
Location is good. Need to deposit P500 for a towel. Free breakfast consists of pandesal, sticky rice, tableya drink, and coconut jam (that tastes rancid). Our room is located at third floor and we were carrying large luggage, staff informed us that we have to carry our own since it's self-service, no elevator. Aircon unit stopped functioning by dawn.
Pros: *All trike drivers know the place. We don’t need to provide them direction going to the hotel. *The hotel offers snorkeling tour *Big room *There’s a rooftop hotel. We ordered the tom yum soup and it was delicious. *They have water refilling stations Cons: *No hot shower *No towels in the room though you could get one with 500 pesos deposit
Would have been better if we were told the first time we arrive that we need to pick the towel at the reception and deposit ID as most hotels already provides the included toiletries in the room. Free breakfast is only sticky rice (suman), bread, coconut jam and Hot chocolate made from tablea 💜 We thought that it is usual breakfast rice meal, but it isn't. However, food is great! And they only allow you to eat at the rooftop. Unfortunately, wifi is only available atthe lobby and rooftop though data connection is fine when you are in the room. Room - totally big for two people. TV has cable channels, aircon is good, there's a menu folder of food available at the room too. Staffs are very friendly and attentive. Distance to downtown are quite near if you are looking for a walking distance hotel. 10-15mins from hotel to Rizal Boulevard and Dumaguete Port. Overall stay, good 👍🏻
The yuckiest Hotel! Free Breakfast is a NoNo don't be deceive in their free offer breakfast.”
NO! FREE! Toiletries kit the bathroom is so yuck! The room smells yuck! Air contioned is not even working well. The water pressure in the bathroom is a NONO. Sink drainage is CLOGGED! TOWELS! Are per request by the guest my gush! You should bring a Valid ID to have a towel served. WORST! don't be deceive by their free breakfast offer. Rice without any dish offer. Only One Salted Bread w/o bread spread. Never to go back with this hotel! Lesson Learned!
Passport held hostage for towels....breakfast was some strange joke”
I don't often leave bad reviews. But here is one. Booked through Agoda. My partner asked front desk staff for 2 towels as none supplied in room (despite checking in after 5pm) and she was required to deposit a passport for the use of 2 crummy towels. FFS really?? Insulting. Breakfast included. This is an abuse of the word. Some bucket of coffee powder and another of creamer. A bucket of yesterday's rice and some bread rolls. Not even margarine or jam. Definitely not worth the walk up the stairs. However, on a positive note, the rooftop is cool and has potential. Good range of drinks/ beers at good prices. Room is dated like the rest of the place. In need of renovations. Compared to White Knights at the same price no wonder rooms are usually fully booked there. Aircon worked fine and pillows are good and bed is a little short. I'm not going to surrender my passport to use a towel again. Better pay a couple hundred more and get something nice or OK Pension gives you towels no worries!!
Staff not welcoming and no smiling, damp and smelly room, WiFi available only in reception or at the rooftop. Good things: the rooftop, breakfast included, but above all you can book with them very convenient and interesting tours.
Great Place To Stay”
We checked in with my family and they were able to accommodate our request to get 2 beds. Room was clean and AC functioning well. There was a water heater as well. Soap and shampoo was in a dispenser which is totally fine to minimize garbage. Their rooftop was excellent for hangout. It's full of plants grown organically. Very refreshing to be in. Highly recommending to everyone unless if you are looking for high end hotel.
Good option for Dumaguete”
This isn't a fancy hotel but it is good value for money, has an excellent rooftop restaurant and good location for the city centre and seaport. Harold himself is always around, very friendly and helpful with local information. He also arranged a boat for us to Apo Island. Harold's Dive Centre in the building offers great diving trips.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Loved the upstairs garden and Pilipino breakfast. Was a bit of a walk to most things but central enough. I loved the walk into the market and along the beach. Thank you for your generosity. Internet not in all rooms but many hotspots especially on the roof.
Cons: Two cockroaches in one night in the room. Toilet just barely flashing, door in the bathroom did not fully open as it was too big for the tiny bathroom. Pros: air con, good location not far from the port
