Fantastic”
We stayed at Hawley House the night before catching our ferry to Melbourne. Beautiful property and gardens. The rooms were huge and beautifully decorated, very comfortable beds! Great breakfast and the owner was so helpful and friendly. We would have liked to stay for longer, we loved it

My two nights stay here was to photograph a wedding...and it’s was perfect! Rich in history and an amazing location, Sophie and Chloe were wonderful friendly hosts and I will be back with my husband next time! Thank you Hawley House...my kind of place to stay 💕

Special Place!”
This is not your regular hotel room, but a very interesting, historical and wonderful place. It is a little off the beaten path, but you will be well rewarded for taking the detour. A historic property, it has well appointed (though a little dated) rooms and inviting common areas. Most important, there are FANTASTIC gardens to explore and a beach and walk adjacent to the land which can keep you occupied to hours (penguins in the evening hours!). The restaurant is superb - make sure to stay for dinner, and the included continental breakfast is great (homemade bread!). This is not a place to book-in for a few hours; plan on spending some time and enjoy all it has to offer. It was a highlight of our 3 1/2 week tour of Australia.

Disrepected and ignored for a larger group. Sadly”
Hawley house was depicted as a Devonport venue which was what we required as ferry passengers for an overnight stay. The Satellite navigation took us down back roads through poppy fields to a remote beach front location over 20 kms out of Devonport. I protested at the location being deceptive and the attitude was cold and basically take it or leave it. It did not help that the venue was fully booked by a wedding party that despite reassurances of no noise, thumped heavy music until late into the night and when that stopped, the revellers spilled into the car park and continued their celebrations loudly. The small in room refrigerator rattled noisily through the night until in frustration, I unplugged it. The shower was provided with one acceptable towel and one threadbare one between two people and lucky we had our own soap as there was none provided. The bed was soft and unacceptable for back problems. Even as guests we were denied the dining room because of the wedding. Not acceptable after a 3 & 1/2 hour drive from Hobart. I would never wish to stay there again.

This lady was extremely abusive to our staff before even entering her accommodation and said she hated beaches and was evidently put out we were not located in the Devonport CBD. Her comments all stem from this instant dissatisfaction, which we could do nothing to assuage.
Exceptional”

somewhat dated”
magnificent views. beautiful wildlife, but sadly in need of a lot of updating. a property of this age needs a lot of work . the owners were fabulous but the room needed work very old dusty interior. the spa bath for an older person was quite a feat to negotiate to have your shower as it was literally over the spa bath. the toilet needed replacing badly. we had paid for breakfast but sadly they didn't open the dinning room till 8 am . it was too late for us as we had to be on our way. not quite my cup of tea.

For future guests, we would like to point out that this is a heritage property suited to those who appreciate the quirks and charm of genuine historic buildings, which have been renovated to a high standard and undergo constant maintenance. The Spa in the spa rooms is a normal corner Spa, with a shower over the spa. Continental breakfast is free of charge, served between 8 and 9 am. All guests needing earlier departure are offered a breakfast tray, which these guests declined.
a Highlight of our tasmanian holiday.”

Lovely B and B style place. However found the beds and pillows to be quite outdated and uncomfortable. Staff very accommodating and lovely gardens however need a bit more attention. Overall, enjoyed it.

Rustic charm”
If it's rustic you are after then this is it. They've done a great job keeping the "old" feel to this place. Dinner was lovely. They promote everyone staying there to have pre-diner drinks in the parlour. We got to meet a few people and make new friends. Great if you are looking for a quiet getaway.

The gardens have the potential to be stunning but are in need of a lot of attention.

Dogs. ”
Lovely building yet a bit left to age ungracefully. Lovely lady and welcome. Too many dogs inside making carpets a bit unsavoury. Nice breakfast but overall overpriced.

We are a pet friendly historic hotel. Our friendly dogs are often sitting calmly in the hallway. If you don't like dogs we suggest booking alternative accommodation.
Lovely old guest house”
Quiet location steps from the beach and park walks. Lovely old place, very cosy and beautiful views from our upstairs king room. Light breakfast included which was nice. 5 minute drive to Hawley village centre for shops.

Iconic property, excellent experience”
This place will stay vivid in your memory for all the right reasons - the property, the rooms, the rusty bouldered beach right across the road, the food, the charming host Sophie, and for me most of all - her gentle dogs. Impeccably mannered, they lounge about quietly, content with their lot - and who can blame them. Hawley House is amazing.
