        A Good All-rounder”

One of my preferred choices of hotel/guest house for value for money, location comfort, though rooms are showing minor signs of needing some TLC. Modern bathroom fittings fully tiled. Never tried breakfast or bar so can't comment on those facilities so only 4* mark.

        Excellent Value and Location”

Always had a good experience as a regular visitor here for a quiet relaxing stay as a business traveller. Rooms are clean, serviced daily, adequately furnished and warm. Whilst the rooms are a little traditional in décor some minor TLC /attention to detail would turn them around from good to perfect but that aside bathrooms are clean, modern, fully tiled with walk in showers, plenty of hot water and a heated towel rail. TV and free broadband all work fine though the latter can slow at peak times. Location is ideal with a short walk across road for trams to/from airport and Princes St shops etc or Train links from Haymarket. Public areas are clean and to good standard A number of local convenience stores just around corner. Not used breakfast or bar facilities so can't comment.

Superb location, just 5-10 minute walk to the centre”

The place is located very close to the centre and just 2 minute walk from Haymarket train station. For the main station in Edinburgh, the hotel is roughly 7-8 quids on a cab. The hotel has its own app and you can find all the necessary information there. Please note, if you happen to be on the top floor of the hotel, there is no lift. If you have some heavy suitcases, be prepared for some lifting on the stairs but it's not as hard as it may seem.

Nice Room and Good Fulfilling Breakfast

Hotel is within walking distance from Haymarket Train Station. Airport Airlink Buses stop near to hotel. Room was fairly nice and clean. Morning breakfast has good selection and fulfilling. But most attraction and shopping places are closer to Waverley Train Station. So the walking distance to Waveley is around 10-15 mins.

had a good stay at the haymarket hotel. the staff were quite helpful. breakfast was included in our package and it was very generous, sausuages, bacon, eggs, toast, and an assortment of pastries and juices. the haymarket hotel is located at the edge of coates gardens, and is a 7-8 minute walk to a bus stop to take you to princes street in downtown edinburgh.

Great location - came in from Glasgow on the train and left for Edinburgh airport on the tram. Both were a couple of minutes' walk away, yet the Haymarket Hotel was around the corner in a more residential area, quieter and more attractive. Still in a good area to enjoy, less touristy, plenty of restaurants, pubs, and shops. Didn't have breakfast as I left too early, so I can't speak for that. Bed was OK; sheets - not in great shape.

        noisy”

The hotel may be okay with a higher room as the bed and staff were fine. However, we were in a room downstairs, the door didn't lock from the inside and didn't feel very secure, the shower had no door so flooded the bathroom when used and the noise levels were crazy. Every person that came in or out of the hotel could be heard overhead very loudly with footsteps and rolling suitcase wheels. I was using the hotel as a base the night before an interview but was woken up at 3:30 am by the noise of someone clearly checking out early and then again at 7 once people began leaving for work or having breakfast. The cleaners then began chatting and working away right outside my room from 7 as well which because the door wasn't particularly secure so had gaps all the way around, could be heard clear as day. As I said, the hotel might be fine upstairs but make sure you don't get given a room downstairs if you want a good night's sleep.

        No Heating !! ”

Besides being booked into the wrong room with no window no bigger a broom cupboard (which was down to the AGODA booking agents apparently!) I foolishly made 2 advance booking here and on BOTH occasions the rooms were like an ice box. The wall mounted air-con/heater just pumped out cold air even with it set at 27 degrees or being reset 3 times by staff. They had to supply a free standing electric heater to take chill off the room. This doesn’t seem like a one off as two different rooms both same problem AND I heard another guest with the same complaint to reception staff about her room. The Handy phone in first room never worked so I couldn’t phone reception to inform them heating still not working so up n down to complain 3 times in person at reception. They could at least provide tea/coffee making facilities. Rooms are only serviced every other day - so ONCE in my 4 nights stay! Only plus side, location for transport links & town centre & White Company complimentary toiletries.

Dear Ray, Please could you re visit this as nothing contained within the review relates to our hotel, there is a Hotel close by that fits this description and we suspect this review relates to a stay you had there. In the Haymarket Hotel you stayed in a 20 sq m room with super king size bed, the large Victorian window measures 190 x 125, the room was toasty warm, we do not have wall mounted air con/heaters or free standing electric heaters, your room was serviced every day, there is no "handy phone " in our room, we do not supply " white company" toiletries and finally we look forward to welcoming you back later this month as you have a room booked with us. Kind regards Ritchie

A pleasant one night stay that continued into the next morning”

Nice cosy clean room, with polite well mannered staff. Not palacial exactly but it more than did the job considering the budget I was willing to pay. Breakfast was good and I was able to remain in the dining room after check out and use the wi-fi, though only issue was that the wi-fi seemed to drop out occasionally which caused problems when on a conference call using skype for business. Otherwise, all very good.

        Haymarket Hotel”

Lovely old row home converted to hotel. Stayed in two different rooms- one very spacious and one quite small. Great location- a block from trams, buses and the Haymarket train station. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only con is that this hotel has many stairs and is not suitable for anyone who has mobility issues.

charming property in great location ”

The location was great and very convenient to public transport. Although it is probably only an issue a few days per year, I found my room a little hot and stuffy. The windows were restricted from opening very far. Also, the doors were set up to slam rather loudly if not held as they close. Depending on the thoughtfulness of your neighbors, it can be rather loud as they come and go. Water pressure in the shower was very limited. Were I staying there primarily for work, I would want a bigger writing table or desk and maybe a desk lamp. All in all I enjoyed my stay, and the staff was quite friendly. I just think that the facilities should have been a bit better maintained given the price charged.

        Perfect for Me ”

This hotel fit the needs of me and my 2 older children. It's located near Haymarket Station which is one stop from Waverly Station. You can walk 20 minutes to the center of town or you can go the tram stop which is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The receptionist was very friendly. We reserved the family room which consisted of one queen sized bed and a twin. I like a good shower when I travel. The water pressure was not as strong as I usually like. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel. There are a few coffee shops and restaurants that sell bacon sandwiches nearby. In the evening there are selection of restaurants and pubs within in a 10 minute walk. There is also a convenient store and a small Marks and Spencers' Foods in the Haymarket Station. If you need to go to the airport there is a bus or tram in front of the train station. It was a 25 minute bus ride to the airport from Haymarket. We enjoyed the quiet and clean location of the hotel.

Like many small hotels, this one does not have 24-hr reception, but the host was very kind and prompt in unlocking the door and getting me checked in. Lots of stairs and no lift, but again, the staff was accommodating in helping with luggage at check-in and checkout. One perplexing thing was that the sign in my room said that the hotel was non-smoking; however, there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke on the floor below mine. Perhaps it’s not part of the hotel, but one does have to walk through it to reach the second floor. Overall, I was very satisfied and would stay there again. The room was attractive, clean, and quiet.

Great location and great value for money”

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend and it was ideally located. Not too far from the centre, maybe around a 15 20 minute walk and also there are many local shops, takeaways and a Tesco express literally 1 minute away. Check in was quick and the lady at check in gave us a map and gave us information on transport information to get to certain attractions if we didn't want to walk. The room was spacious and had a wardrobe for our clothes which also has a safe inside it. A nice big mirror with a chair and table. Kettle, cups, tea, coffee, biscuits and even bottled water. For the price we paid which was £120 for 2 nights for a weekend I doubt you will find anything better and as close to the centre. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of visiting Edinburgh. Anyone driving to the hotel may want to know that there's limited public parking spaces right outside. It is free after 6:30pm and Sundays are free.

        My stay is incredible”

very nice breakfast, very friendly staff, easy access to downtown

My stay was incredible! Check-in was unbelievable fast. My room (family room) was big enough for 3 adults to move around. Breakfast was amazing! On top of continental buffet breakfast, I could order kipper, oatmeal, baked bean, bacon, eggs in any style as well! How amazing! The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the men. There are lots of frequent bus routes (eg. 12, 26, 31) bypass the hotel. A 10-min ride will bring you to downtown. The only drawbacks are 1) not enough hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes, and 2) inconvenient to travellers with heavy luggage as no elevator is available. All in all, I'm very happy with my stay! I'll stay here again for sure!!
