The local area of London Bridge is a vibrant community, with plenty of interesting bars, restaurants and shops to explore. You're also near to the famous Borough Market with its fantastic selection of stalls selling a mixture of fresh food and drink. Right by Borough Market is the 1,000 year old Southwark Cathedral and on the opposite side of the road, the newly completed Shard of glass, the tallest building in Europe. This area is very historical as reflected by the street names that were frequented by Dickens, Shakespeare and Chaucer. The Southbank of the Thames is also only a few minutes' walk too with its street performers, street foods, arts venues and riverside cafes and bars. Carry on along the river, taking in the London Dungeons, Clink Museum, Shakespeare's Globe, Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery, London Eye and'¦ if your legs will carry you, the view of the London skyline from Waterloo Bridge is spectacular! Potters Fields Park is close to the house too, with great views of the river and the iconic Tower Bridge. Walk the other way along the Thames from London Bridge and you quickly reach Tower Bridge by the Tower of London and the Mayor of London's headquarters building known as The Headlamp. On the Southbank there is also Shad Thames with all its converted wharves and on the north bank you'll find St. Katherine's dock.
