Cleaning lady was super quick, thorough and professional on her light touches during our stay.

Very new; Quiet surroundings versus rest of HK”
Pros. Very nicely renovated, special Chinese heritage style but at the same time very modern. Very clean. Well equipped with toothbrushes, safe, slippers, tolietary, etc. It is at a very quiet location, ie. 5-10mins (depend on your speed) walk uphill from major train station Mei Foo and Mei Foo bus terminal. So you will not be surrounded tall buildings, which is something very rare in Hong Kong, and I liked it that way too. Wi-fi signal at my room was very good. Buffering youtube over my iphone smoothly. Friendly staffs, showing your way to your room so no hustle of getting lost in these 2 storey buildings. I got some great and quick room services too, asked for some tissue paper, pair of forks and extra set of pillows. So overall, a nice and comfortable stay at Heritage Lodge. Cons. The air-con only allows you to choose dry/cold/fan only, which does not provide any heat when it is winter cold outside. Luckily the blankets are warm enough, hot water supply is very stable too. No minibar / fridge for basic rooms, so not able to store cold drinks or food. Unfortunately, despite our efforts to ask for double bed on phone 1 day prior arrival and requested on agoda, we still only get 2 twin bed, and even upgrading will not help as the number of rooms there is not alot.
The hotel is located on a little hill ^^, the weather is very good. If you’re looking for a relax place, I’d recommend here. Most of the surrounding is clean and comfortable, however, the cleanness in the room and restroom need more attention. Very close to Mei Foo Station, less than 10 minutes’ walk but you need to know the exact way to walk there, unless a little bit tired (might take around 20 mins instead!) Briefly, you choose exit b from Mei Foo station, make a u-turn and walk straight to a little intersection (if you wanna use hotel shuttle bus, you need to turn left here, then you’ll see Esso gas station, wait around there), cross it you will see the lift on your left hand side, take the lift to next level, canopy walkway, then make one more u-turn, follow to Jao Tsung-I Academy guidepost. When you reach Jao Tsung-I Academy, you can use the lift go up to the hotel. Also, the tea shop there (at low zone level) is a must to try ^^
Space space space!!!”
We stayed here 6 nights, 2 on the ground floor and 4 on the first floor + large rooms for HK standards + good beds + good wifi + good English at the reception + relatively good location + MTR 'Mei Foo' station is a 10 min walk + good shower with unlimited hot water + good quiet atmosphere + shopping centre at MTR station with a very good restaurant! (See photo) - thin walls, it's a bit noisy sometimes - it's a 10 min walk from the MTR, but it's almost only stairs. We had backpacks so no problem but with a suitcase it is. There is a transfer minivan but I don't know the pickup point. - remember the wifi password, because the wifi stops every time you stop with internet. To find Heritage Lodge, follow the signs 'Jao Tsung-I academy'
Relaxing, Friendly People, Away from Busy City”
The place is truly awesome! It is a good place for relaxation. Most reviews would tell you it is far from the city, while this is true, what we like about the place is ambiance, accessibility of lifts, mei foo downtown offers you variety of restaurants where you can eat, people in this location a friendlier than from the busy areas of Hongkong. The room is big, clean, comfortable for a long stay. They have nice, polite and friendly staff. The hotel is on top of the hill so you will get a nice overlooking view. There are many trees and relaxing spots to explore.
When all you require are the basics, Heritage Lodge provides and exceeds expectations. We basically needed a place close to the city to shower and sleep. The bed was huge (a king), the bathroom had a shower with great water pressure, and the area provided privacy and peace. There was no minibar, but refreshments were available at reception and from various (and numerous) vending machines across the premises. Additionally, we weren't able to control the thermostat in the room, but it was set to a temperate 23C. The only reason I've taken a star off of location is because there are many stairs that need to be climbed as it is on top of a hill. The lodge is wheelchair accessible, and there are lifts that go between the low, middle and high zones (which are very much appreciated!), but the lift to the high zone where the hotel rooms are located was broken during our stay. The lodge itself is set in such tranquility and so close to the city and its many amenities. I really appreciated the good nights' rest with no traffic noise, and walking down the hill surrounded by birdsong in the morning was lovely.
Never be afraid to explore”
We never thought that this kind of hotel exist in Hongkong. I’ve been traveling to HongKong many times and most of my stay was on a regular hotel on its center, which is small and usual. But since this time I am with my parents I need to find a hotel that match the experience they want. Away from crowded city and a taste of traditional Hongkong. Heritage Lodge is a perfect to them, with big rooms and fancy in traditional way lodge concept. It is on top on a hill, but it was not a big problem with us since we love walking, they also have free shuttle that rounds around the city so it is great once you don’t have anergy to walk back.. But we do found the elevator way up where we explore most of the area. This is a highly recommended hotel with very accommodation staff and all..
Cultural gem. Manage your expectations”
Everything you read in previous reviews are true. Location: Located on a hilltop with breathtaking city view and fresh air. Don’t expect to lug heavy luggage from subway station/ bus station. The lodge require some time to find and you either haul your luggage up stiff slopes or WILL encounter stairs. Take a taxi. This is a wonderful lodge if you want an escape from the hustle in the city. Staff & service: Staff may seem defensive at first. I think it has to do with the shy nature of Hong Kong people. They’re actually very accommodating. Front desk guy went out of his way to show us our room, later return with a map so we know our whereabouts. Cleaning lady was super quick, thorough and professional on her light touches during our stay. Room: AC a bit sporadic. AC didn’t bother our January stay but I can see it problematic in summer. Water temp isn’t consistent. Shower wasn’t scorching hot or ice cold but it gets annoying. The rooms are clean that’s all we asked for.
Love and Hate at Heritage Lodge”
Pros :: Good value for money at price through Agoda. 50-60% of comparable room at Mong Kok or Yaumati hotels. Room reasonable size. Room and linen clean. Nice environment for leisurely stay if you don't have to go to town two or more times a day. Cons :: Location a bit off beaten track. My cab driver from the airport didn't know about it. Takes just under 15 mins walking from exit of Mei Foo subway station to my room at top of the complex. All uphill and steps. Would have been nice exercise if not for unseasonably warm weather (28C in November) Heritage buildings have their limitations. Insufficient sound proofing. Ventilation fan in the next room served as my wake up call every morning at 5 am. Humming noise whenever air con in the next room kicked in. Flow and temperature of the shower very inconsistent. Shower water could turn from comfortably warm to scalding hot to cool and then back again, cycling about every three mins. Overall, stay was not bad but I would not come back
Nicely refurbished, redesigned buildings with a nice aspect above the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong”
Spacious room with a large comfortable bed with all the basics provided. Finding the Lodge was a challenge, geographically, and fitness wise. A bit of research would help or a good description of the route from Mei Foo MTR station would be helpful. Regardless it was a nice location and not too far from shops and restaurants.
perfect accommodation in HK”
It is an oasis! Though within the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, the property appears to be a world apart with its colonial architecture. The rooms are well-apppointed and a class all its own! Ideal to those who are interested in heritage and heritage conservation efforts! Highly recommended!
Value for money in a heritage site”
It is on the upper part of a hillside of a heritage site of colonial Hong Kong. It is about 12 min walk from the nearest metro exit and is totally inside a large section belonging to the hotel and its related facilities with an excellent view to the western section of the Kowloon Peninsula from the hillside, and the Victoria Harbour. The environment is very serene, and has a restaurant and a café. Extra will be the exhibition areas of the old Hong Kong history and the biggest cultural icon of the Chinese culture just 2 levels down.
Relax short trip”
I stayed in a Suite of the Heritage Lodge in late July 2014. The suite is spacious with a living room and bedroom. The suite is equipped with a comfort double bed. However, during my stay, I found a small dead cockroach (about 5mm long) laid on my bed. Anyway, I think it is ok as the lodge is located in “green belt” and having these insect bodies should be normal. There is a restaurant located 5 minutes from the lodge operated by the social enterprises. They employed elders as waiters and cooks for the restaurant and the quality of the food and services are still very high. I really appreciate that. Also, they arranged elders for live performance during the dinner time. They sang very good English and Cantonese songs. But the only thing that I would like to complain is the sound insulation. My suite is located at the 2nd floor of the building which is already the highest floor. The night that I stay in the lodge was raining heavily. The noise that the rain hit against the roof was so annoying and I can’t sleep well that night. Anyway, I would rate this lodge 3 out 5!!
Near to Mei Foo MRT station, there are elevator services so need not to worry about the heavy luggage. Very nice environment with a good Chinese restaurant. The staffs are helpful and friendly. The place is very safe with strong security system.
Worth stay lodge”
This is a good price, good view at the night / day time, and good location inn. Every morning, either you can have breakfast next to the inn, or walk to Mei Foo Sun Chun. And they also provide shuttle bus.
The nivana in the city”
What the Heritage Lodge impressed me most is definitely its environment. You can hardly imagine there would be such a tranquil place inside the city. The rooms are decorated in unique Chinese style which makes them even more cozy. I guess it's the best place not even for tourists from abroad, it's also perfect for those Hong Kong people whom wants to escape from busy lives and spend a nice weekend there.
Very nice place and helpfull staff”
i like the place. not small or crowded like those hostels or hotels in mongkok or tsim tsa tshui. for me it still easy to reach the mtr (mei foo) since they provide shuttle bus that very punctual on time. only suggestion for other, put the "dont disturb" sign if you need private time. i have a pleasant time and surely will be back. thank you.
Heritage lodge had decent sized rooms, helpful staff, 24 hour check in/out service which was great along with nice city scenery. However, as it is located in a rather hilly area, I would recommend for travellers to take the taxi from the MTR station.
Very interesting history.culture and entertainment”
We enjoyed our stay here very much although we were not very sure when we booked what we were letting our selves in for. we walked around the heritage museum and learn about the history of the buildings and how it had been tranformed from a colonial hospital to a mental asylum to a heritage hotel We dine in the dining room every night and were served by very obliging staff who were all retire from other jobs and were entertained to a high standard with a wide range of chinese and english songs.we would love to stop here again!
No other choice”
I stay here as no other choice in Mei Foo. This is my 4th stay in the hotel. Disappointed as they stopped the shuttle services. Bit distance and hill area to walk to facilities. Thank you for checking in early.
Comfort and clean hotel”
My stay at this hotel was great. It was a comfortable stay although the location was abit far from Mei foo mtr station. Luckily the hotel provide transport from mei foo & you will need to check on the timing to the hotel. Overall, it's a great hotel to recommend.
