A holistic hotel experience”
Everything starting from the 15-min or so secluded driveway up to the hotel, to the historically conserved aesthetics of the factory building, to the personalised service, was a fine example of creating a superb atmosphere with attention to detail. The hotel brings the concept of production of Tea, which is attune to the heritage of Nuwara Eliya, and turns it to a magical experience for guests. The atrium is a wonderful display of old engine machinery that they start up every day during dinner, and is pure spectacle to just watch. Lifts are also old-fashioned with manual grille doors, structures are painted in green and red - pure vintage glory. Service was impeccable, with staff remembering you and asking if everything has been met. Guided walks, tea leaf picking, and a bar for tea tasting are also offered in the hotel experience. It was also nice to just walk out to the terrace to breathe the fresh air, or go to the back and walk down a bit in to the plantations to catch the sunset.

What a gorgeous hotel! The staff was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The hotel is breathtaking. Such a unique concept, taking an old abandoned tea factory and turning it into a hotel. We loved the history of the place! The old generator still works! The food was delicious. Our rooms were very comfortable. The views are breathtaking

The best staff , location, food and wonderful people ”
It’s lovely quite hotel for people to Unwind from life’s daily grind. Situated in the middle of beautiful tea plantations it is hard to describe the beauty of the place. The hotel has managed to keep the heritage intact but at the same time provide the modern day travelers what they need. What makes the hotel absolutely wonderful is the people who work there. I have never met staff who are courteous, friendly and helpful than them. You have to experience it to feel the warm hospitality.

It’s an old tea factory and the developer has preserved as much as humanly possible of the original building and it’s workings. All very tastefully done. Beautiful surroundings and exceptionally friendly staff. Delicious food too. Will definitely return.

Let’s just say the sunrise here is unlike any you will see anywhere. This place is a hidden gem and one of the most beautiful I have experienced. It’s a little out of the way, but it is worth every minute and every dollar spent getting there.

I was here for my honeymoon trip. It was an excellent trip. The staff was courteous and the view from the hotel room was amazing. The room had an attached balcony which offered an excellent view. The interiors of the hotel was very well maintained and everything was very detailed keeping in mind that it was a tea factory in the past.

Great stay & lovely staff”
We loved the hotel & the lovely surroundings as this hotel is surrounded my tea plantations. It was an awesome view we had from.our room on the 4th floor. We felt really special as there was a personal touch from most of the staff. I would like to mention Mr Muthu, the chef Shanmugal Vel who walked us through the buffet and the food items, Norbert, Padmanathan & all of the staff who attended to us during our 5 day stay. Everyone was very sincere, warm & welcoming throughout. I will definitely patronise this hotel again during my next visit to Sri Lanka.

Very courteous and welcoming staff”
We were greeted everywhere we went. The staff were patient with our requests and friendly. We booked the dinner and breakfast package and the food in the restaurant was sumptuous and of good variety. The hotel could also arrange a tour of the tea production process let us pick our own tea leaves for a small fee. This is my best stay in Sri Lanka

Beautiful hotel. It’s in a secluded area, really high up among the tea plantations. The grounds and surrounding view is excellent and well maintained. The rooms are pretty spacious and the balconies are a lovely place to sit and watch the clouds go past. Breakfast was a little underwhelming though.

We enjoyed our time at the Heritance during our long holidays in Sri Lanka. The room was super clean and the hotel history is very outstanding. Such a special stay and we had no problem staying with our baby boy less than 3 yrs old. We loved being remote in this place and would recommend it highly

The hotel is fabulous. Staff is excellent and their food is very good. They also have a theme restaurant that serves a 7 course meal for 75 usd. Location is a contraint.its about 10 km from the main town. however once you are there, its excellent service

Price too high for what you get”
Looking at the price and comparing the average cost for a room you can not expect to get 10-15x more. Sure its a decent 4* hotel with central heating and that comes at a cost, but looking at other great 4 or even 5* hotels I stayed I expect more for the $300+ a night. Location is wonderful but very far away. You kind of need to get the half board option otherwise there is nothing around. You can add for $29pp the dinner and for $15pp the breakfast. But comparing with the local restaurant where we had lunch on our way ($0.5pp) I go for the local version. Food is just below average. Stuff is very friendly but also expects tipp most of the time. I wish they pay them an over-average decent salary and remove the tipping thing. The tea plantation experience is very very nice and also reasonable priced. The lady does an excellent job. Great experience to recommend to everyone.
