This ideally located hotel overlooks the city's famous Acropolis and features attractive gardens and calming water fountains. The Herodion Hotel features 90 stylish guestrooms and are nicely decorated with excellent amenities and good views of the area. Just a short walk away from the central square of Athens, this hotel also houses a recently renovated roof garden complete with two large Jacuzzis perfect for guests to enjoy the heat of the Greek sun. The in-house restaurant serves delicious Greek and Mediterranean cuisine throughout the day, and there are several cafes and bars in the vicinity.

Wonderful boutique hotel in super location near the acropolis museum and architectural remains. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe there too. Fabulous rooftop bar with an amazing view of the acropolis lit up in the night sky!!!
We loved the hotel. We arrived late the first evening and explored the neighborhood. There were great restaurant options nearby and the neighborhood seemed very safe. We loved the location as well. Perfect for visiting the Acropolis and Plaka.
Excellent hotel let down by some poor service”
The Herodion sits in the middle of town, not a stone’s throw from the Acropolis. Most of the other popular sights are within easy walking distance - the Plaka with all its restaurants and bars is a mere five minutes away. Our room, advertised as having a view of the Pantheon, did not disappoint, but not mentioned was the school in between! The room, though not large, was exceptionally clean - serviced efficiently by a very pleasant cleaner - and had very comfortable beds and an efficient heater (this was late February). There is not a lot of storage space for clothes. Unfortunately, the walls do appear to be rather thin, and conversations and tv’s in adjacent rooms can be quite clearly and annoyingly heard - we needed our earplugs! There was free Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel: the download speed varied from a good 3 Mbps to a fairly frequent 0 Mbps. Unfortunately, the bar staff let the hotel down; they seemed lazy and disinterested.
What a view”
Great hotel perfect if you want to visit the museum (worth a look) and the acropolis. Has great roof top bar and restaurant well worth visiting. Rooms all good, in a great part of town but still quiet.
Great Location and very friendly & helpful staff”
the hotel is just 5min walk away from the acropolis and is just next to the acropolis museum. great location with small cafes in the vicinity. also less than 5min walk to the plaka. the hotel staff is very helpful and the breakfast spread is good. the hotel has a roof top with a great view of the acropolis.
Great location, small room ”
The hotel location is amazing but room size was too small for a family of three. Though we had a good night sleep, the room cud have been better. Also the in room dining didn’t have much choices.Room delivery was prompt
Excellent customer service and location”
The location was absolutely perfect and the customer service was great, however the beds were not up to par. The rooms are a nice size and there’s no complaints on the bathroom, but the two twins beds pushed together to make a queen ate terrible. The mattress was super hard and lumpy, pillows were terrible and the linens were not comfortable at all. They seemed to have spent so much money in the lobby/bar/ rooftop area- which are all beautiful but really didn’t put effort into the bedrooms. We were happy we only stayed one night.
Wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Athens”
Excellent location; 2 minute walk to the Akropolis metro station. Minutes from amazing museums, restaurants and shops. Loved our stay here. The complimentary breakfast was exceptional.
Convenient location in Athens”
Nice location to all the sightseeing points. Only walk like 10-15mins
Great location for the value”
Right across from the famous Acropolis and new Acropolis museum. Very close to shops and Plaka district. The hotel was very accommodating in all aspects of arranging transportation for us and corresponding quickly via email. The only downside was our room was quite tiny to fit two twin beds. We also requested one queen or king bed which was not honored. Overall good value.
Good Place Stay in the heart of the city”
I stayed here for one night prior to flying back home and I recommend it to anyone who is staying in Athens for a few days. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Acropoli metro station, located behind the Acropolis museum and within a 15 min walking distance of all the major sites. The room size was fine, with comfy beds and a large bathroom with tub. The facilities were also nice, with a particularly good bar, which I spent most of my last afternoon at waiting for the plane. Because of this, I'd recommend it as a good hotel for your last day. You can relax in the lobbybar and then walk to the metro to catch a train to the airport. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again.
nice cozy personal great location for the museum ”
I like the hotel because it is very centrally located. It is a small hotel with great staff and nice but small rooms. The rooms have cocomat beding and hard wood floor. They are clean with modern style bathrooms with showers but kind of small. Ask for a room with the Parthenon view. The hotel does not have the amenities of the big ones but it has a personal touch. No pool but a jacuzzi. The Buffet breakfast is included and it is very good. The roof garden restaurant is amazing with exceptional drinks and food. I would stay again at this hotel.
Keeps getting better (and pricier)”
My family and I have stayed at the Herodion a number of times over the years (first time about 35 years ago) and it's always our first choice in Athens. The location, in a quietish residential area just under the Acropolis, is unbeatable. Recent renovations have lifted the room quality, though rooms remain small. The bathroom could do with a rethink - poor shower inside a bathtub with inadequate anti-splash screen. The rooftop restaurant, Point A, is superb. Prices have doubled since last time we stayed there, two years ago.
Amazing little gem in the middle of the city. This hotel is located 5 minutes away from the Acropolis site and Plaka - so cant be beat on location. Even though we stayed there for 1 day, the hotel staff were brilliant! They gave us late checkout the next day and their breakfast was amazing. The rooms are modern and comfortable and the roof-top bar has million dollar views of the Acropolis. We would definitely stay there again!
Small room for 3 of us, but my daughter got an actual bed instead of a springy rollaway. Bathroom was a bit tight as well, but location made up for the inconvenience. It also helped that the hotel is on the route of the Hop-on Hop-off bus. And last, but not least, we loved the rooftop restaurant. We had dinner there three nights in a row.
Very nice hotel and staff. Avoid the breakfast box (much too simple and plain--not worth the money!), just stick to the regular breakfast if you can, and spend a little extra to get an acropolis view room. They're small, but well appointed and the view up the hill is lovely in the morning. My boyfriend and I stayed in a twin room with a view and it was great. It was soundproofed, which was sooo nice!! We slept deeply and didn't hear any other guests the whole time. Taking in the view with a cocktail on the rooftop at the end of the day was perfect. Excellent service and friendly reception. All over a great experience: 9/10.
Perfect location for all that Athens has to offer. Almost everything we wanted to do was in walking distance, yet it's on a quiet street. Very helpful staff (and I ask a lot of questions). We would definitely stay here again if visiting Athens.
Great location and food was delicious and fresh!”
The location was right next to the acropolis and the train station/shops. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. There was quite a variety of food options and it was super clean. I would definitely recommend staying at this location.
Excellent Choice for Those New to Athens with a Mid-Range Budget”
We chose this hotel for a combination of price, reviews, and location. It turned out that the location was perfect -- a one-block walk to the new Acropolis Museum, two blocks to the perimeter path around the Acropolis itself, three blocks to a metro station, and close to any number of good restaurants. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms and public areas were clean, and the facilities were more than adequate. Very good value for money.
Wonderful location, magnificent views, beautiful design”
Wonderful location, magnificent views, beautiful design - inside and out. Breakfast room was freezing cold (AC was blasting, although it wasn't particularly hot on our September days), and some selection was missing at later times, but staff went out of their way to make us more comfortable. Would be good to have some food/snacks available late at night, too.
