Clean, quiet, a little old but nice.”
I was on a business trip and brought my wife for three nights. ARRIVAL: We arrived to find the front door closed but a sign was posted: Enter through the restaurant. Probably because it was low season (March). The reception girl was nice and spoke good English. THE ROOM: The room, 203, was really clean and nice. View over a river and fields. The bed was a bit hard but ok. The only weird thing was that there was no radiator in the bathroom and it got cold the first night. Brrr! Solved that the second day by keeping the bathroom door slightly open unless we were in there. No biggie. BREAKFAST AND RESTAURANT: The breakfast all days was the same. The only hot food was boiled eggs but they had freshly baked bread and other types of bread and crackers. Several different cold cuts and cheese. All kinds of marmelades, jams and teas. A coffee machine and hot chocolate. OJ, yoghurts, corn flakes and other stuff. Nice. We never ate dinner there but my Dutch friend said it is a popular bar and restaurant with the locals so the food is nice. STAFF: The second and third day we were greeted by an older lady who worked all alone until maybe 10 o´clock. She spoke NO English and was not the most charming personality..... But I guess this was also because it was low season since we saw nobody except us eating breakfast until the third and last morning we stayed. Then there where two Germans and us. A crowd! I can´t really complain about the "not so smiling" lady. She did her job and brought the breakfast. And it can´t be easy taking care of a hotel alone. So in all thumbs up for the staff. SURROUNDINGS: A small town with nice surroundings. Visit the Kasteel de Haar castle. Really impressive. We also got a personal tour of a 350 year old windmill by a nice old man. Good shopping in nearby lovely Woerden. SUMMARY: A nice older hotel. They had painted recently and everything worked and was clean. Nice breakfast. Good restaurant/bar. Nice staff. Would love to go back for holiday.

Overnachting tijdens Freakend in Woerden ”
