      A little slice of paradise”

      Breakfast, outside terrace, friendly dogs!

We had a fantastic stay at Hibiscus villa. We were greeted with a lovely cup of tea in the terrace which is like a slice of paradise- the lush gardens are a welcoming escape from the busy matara road and you can watch the long tailed monkeys jumping from tree to tree. The whole house is very well maintained, clean, spacious and the staff are lovely! We stayed in the orchid back room which was the cheaper of the 4 rooms but it was well decorated, clean and comfortable. The only slight downfall is there is no A/C in the room so you do have to rely on the fan in the room which was fine but did take a while for us to cool down. The breakfast is good- you get the most delicious fresh juice every morning and some lovely jams and breads! We also loved the villa's dogs- Theckla in particular is just the friendliest dog who will always give you a warm welcome! The location is great, there is a small quiet beach next to the dive shop opposite the villa or you can walk 15 minutes to the main unawatuna beach.

      Far from the madding Crowd”

I have stayed at the Hibiscus Villa before, because it is an oasis of calm set among a lush garden - not far from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna, but far enough to afford peace and quiet and spectacular views. I had stayed in one of the gorgeous ocean facing ground floor rooms before, but this time I stayed in the top-floor seafacing apartment which is simply spectacular. It’s so spacious and lovingly furnished with a well equipped kitchen and a large and comfy seating area, a huge stylish bedroom with a lovely ensuite bathroom and a large balcony offering a truly tremendous ocean view. It was such a wonderful place to chill out in the evening and then do a fairly leisurely spot of work. If only I had an office like this every day! The owner and his staff are extremely friendly and welcoming- as are the various adorable dogs and cats living in the premises - and they go out of their way to accommodate their guests. I hope to come again soon!

Classy house in a garden oasis”

Beautiful gardens. Nice rooms. Spacious communal areas. Good breakfast. Design features.

Hibiscus Villa is a real gem, hidden just meters from the busy and unattractive Unawatuna main road. The hosts are extremely friendly, very international and are able to help you with restaurant or transport needs. It's worth noting that the two rooms which over look the garden are far superior to the back room, however we found the amount of communal space and the fantastic veranda ( where you can eat breakfast whilst watching the monkeys, birds and plants) more than makes up from any lack of space in your room. Overall I'd say this house represents real value for money in the area. A great find!

A Villa with a very beautiful garden”

Hibiscus Villa was definetely the most beautiful place we stayed in our Sri Lanka trip. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Staff was very good and the Villa was just 2 mins to beach. It has a very beautiful garden to relax, to read or to listen the nature’s voice. As a group of 3, we all loved Hibiscus Villa Very much and we suggest this place to everyone who’ll visit Unawatuna.

Beautiful garden, spacious rooms and clean

When we arrived at Hibiscus Villa were welcomed with a cup of thee which we could drink on the terrace, overlooking a beautiful green garden. The rooms very spacious and clean and had a shower with open roof which was really nice. The Villa is located at a quiet location but still close to the beach. We would definitely recommend to stay here when you are in Unawatuna!

Idyllic - Perfect Villa in Unawatuna”

A serene and beautiful villa close to one of the best beaches in the world!

We were both extremely pleased with Hibiscus Villa, an ideal choice for Unawatuna. Set across the road from the beach (2 min walk to the best sunbathing spots), once home, the bustle of the seaside dissipates into total relaxation. The newly landscaped garden is stunning with perfect seating areas to while away the evenings. The owners dogs are extremely friendly as are the monkeys who visit regularly!

Lovely relaxing villa and beautifull garden”

Spacious elegant and airy house, nice and relaxing garden

We had read good things about villa hibiscus but we were still pleasantly surprised. The hotel only offers 4 bedrooms on the ground floor of a trendy villa, tastefully decorated with a minimalist style surrounded by a luxuriant, wisely built and well maintained tropical garden. The front rooms are really huge as well as the bathrooms, with double shower, very clean. The breakfast is served on the terrace facing the garden, just outside your room in a cozy and relaxing atmosfere, with plenty of birdlife around. Wath else? Mr Ajith is a kind and attentive host, generous with information, the staff unobtrusive and ever smiling. Excellent accomodation, we really enjoyed our stay at Hibiscus villa.

I fell in love with this villa from the moment I walked in the door. It's set back and up from the beach slightly in a secluded section that you can't see from the road, so it's a total surprise when you enter the garden of Eden inside the walls. The villa is spacious, cool and shady inside, with a big living room that opens up fully at the front to overlook terraced gardens filled with trees (and monkeys), and the bedroom I had at the front was roomy and very well appointed, with a double-height ceiling and a stunning shower that was open to the sky high above. I spent most of my two days in Unawatuna ignoring the beach and everything else and being quite happy just relaxing at the villa, it was such a gorgeous place. The staff were great, too. Although it's a bit of a hike to get to the better restaurants at the other end of the beach, I preferred the seclusion and relative quiet that you get here. Paradise for around £25 a night.

The best accommodation ever - ”

Beautiful gardens, lovely host, welcoming cups of tea after a long day sightseeing, so so clean wished we had time to stay here longer

Hibiscus Villa was the best place that we stayed in during our 2 weeks holiday in Sri Lanka. The room was amazing, so big and so so clean. Very high ceilings and a beautiful verandah where we sat watching the birds, squirrels and monkeys and generally relaxing. Ajith, the owner could not have done any more for us, no matter what time we came back from sightseeing there was always an offer of a drink - nothing seemed to be any trouble to him or his staff. The shower was amazing so big and once clean you were able to wrap yourself in freshly laundered towels.(not experienced anywhere else where we had stayed) The garden was on 2 levels and full of different species of trees and flowers - just looking at it made you think you were in heaven it was so peaceful and yet you were so close to the beach. Breakfast too was the best we had tasted, so beautifully presented. Hibiscus should be ranked amongst the top rated hotels as it certainly delivers on quality. We fell in love with Sri Lanka whilst staying here. Ajith thank you for making our stay wonderful, don't change a thing you have it perfected.

      Fantastic place”

      Everything

We loved Hibiscus Villa and ended up staying longer because of this. It's a lovely Colonial villa with a communal kitchen dining room. Don't let this put you off though we loved talking to all the other guests. We had a garden room and our breakfast was often served on our terrace. The staff are lovely. Ajith is in charge and yes at times he will be called away and the other staff don't speak English, having said that bare with it the staff will show you your room and make you a cup of tea. Also you pay for what you get so don't expect a garden room if you have paid for a smaller back room. All the rooms are fine, but their is quite a difference. You can't see the sea from here, but that really is a plus as the garden is gorgeous, watching the monkeys and birds is a lovely pastime. There are 6 dogs here, but they do not bother you, they are very well behaved. Everyone is so friendly Ajith always asked if there was anything we needed from town if he was going. He also sent out for medicine when I was I'll. also recommending Raja and the whales to us, we loved this day trip and we also used the lovely Jayantha as our driver for our last four days up into the hills and that was great too. He also provides wine glasses for your wine and the icing on the cake is that it is gay friendly. Thanks Ajith we really enjoyed our stay.

      Don't bother staying anywhere else!”

Hibiscus Villa completely surpassed our expectations. For the next to nothing price we payed, we were so impressed with the standard of the room, the house and the hospitality of the staff. We absolutely loved our stay here, and especially the man who looked after us. He made us tea when we arrived, and brought us up some aloe vera from the garden for our sunburn! He was so lovely and helped up with our request to stay another night. The beach is just across the road. We found the beach to be great for restaurants, however if you want a beautiful beach to visit for the day, you MUST visit Dallawella beach which can be reached by the bus for just ten rupees! Thanks Hibiscus for being so perfect. We will miss it there!

Hibiscus Villa is such a beautiful place to stay - spacious rooms which are scrupulously clean and comfortable beds. A high standard of accommodation and such a reasonable price! quiet, very clean

This is the best place to stay in Unawatuna! Really a very beautiful and spacious villa, located a bit up on the mountain from the main road, so in the house you don't hear any noice of the town. It also has a great garden, if you walk through this garden, you just cross the busy road and you are on the beach. The rooms are lovely, big and the beds were the best we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. The staff is friendly and helpful, serving nice breakfasts in the garden, where you'll see friendly monkeys and colourfull birds.

Our whole experience at Hibiscus villa was lovely. Our room was comfortable, clean and had lovely finishing touches, such as a fresh flower bowl outside our room in the morning. Asanka one of the staff members was amazing. Asanka could not have done more to help us if he tried, he went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We ended up staying an extra two nights as we enjoyed it so much. The villa had a beautiful garden and the location was just across the road from the beach. Big garden, friendly staff, generous breakfast

This is my favourite stay in my 9days Sri Lanka trip! Anyone coming to Unawatuna HAS to stay here! The house was more of a b&b style rather than hotel. Owner lives on the 2nd floor so it was a really gd experience chatting with the locals (they speak gd english!). The rooms were huge and though there wasn't any A/C, the fans worked really well and there wasn't any mosquito problem. Bathroom is outdoor concept and hot water does take quite long to come on. My 2 nights stay here was v comfortable..only wish is that the room could be more brightly lit so I could do some night reading. My fav hangout place was the lush couches facing the huge garden; where we spotted squirrels and monkeys. It was windy and extremely relaxing! The hse has 5 dogs so sometimes, they'll come and lounge around as well. Really friendly dogs (except the shy chihwahwa) and my fav was Tekla. Owner is really a gd man who rescued some ill, treated dogs :) Breakfast choice can either be sri lankan or american; both of which were well, prepared, punctual and delicious! There was always tea prepared for us after a long day outside and we really appreciated that. Laundry can be done at 600rupees. Overall, a great experience in this house..except for the times the workers smoke in the hall late in the night. Will definitely be back again in future!!

It was pleasure to have a rest in Hibiscus Villa! We've met a very cheerful owner, who has provided us very beautiful and clean apartments with individual restroom and shower and also shared kitchen. Territory of the villa is not big, but very green with many beautiful plants, trees and flowers. The beach is in 5 minutes from villa across the road. But we didn't hear any cars noise. I can recommend this villa for any who want to stay out from hotels crowd and relax in a quiet beautiful place.

The Hibiscus villa is a beautiful house and it has an amazing garden. It is set back from the beach across the road which makes it a bit more peaceful. The room was large and well decorated and it had an exceptionally large en-suite with 2 showers. It was very enjoyable sitting out on the balcony in front of our room. The host was friendly and we were able to have tea, cold beers and he also arrange our taxi back to the airport.Breakfast is not included but this isn't a problem as there are lots of places nearby. The host has 4 lovely dogs which wasn't a problem for us as we are doggie people. Would definitely recommend, one tiny improvement would be the addition of A/C as it was exceptionally hot when we were there and the ceiling fan didn't quite keep the room cool enough

      Well worth for money ”

      - Very close proximity to the Unawatuna beach - Friendly & kind caring service - Well worth for money spent

Actually i arranged the hotel for 1 of my brothers as the honey moon stay with his bride for 2 nits as my gift. they have chosen Unawatuna to spend their honeymoon..As per their comments after the visit, i was really happy about my gift for them as they were honestly satisfied and happy for same..Because they were provided a very good n caring service by hotel staff more than they expected...also they had a comfortable stay n nice tea/ meals too...Further more...when my brother ask for only a water horse to wash his vehicle..a staff member voluntarily washed the vehicle him self...only thing they mentioned negative was lack of parking space...how ever hotel staff has arranged them a safer place to park their vehicle closer to the hotel..So i really satisfied and recommend for others even local tourists (Sri Lankan) to choose this hotel as stay point of their next visit to down south of Sri Lanka. Take this opportunity to Thank the All staff of the Hotel.
