Good for backpackers”
This hostel has basically everything you need during travel: -Fast free wifi -breakfast for a fee -clean bathrooms- they even have toilet for Females only -clean bedrooms -laundry room well equipped -good attentive receptionist -comfortable common room to hangout -very near train station -good room security *my advice- just bring your own lock because they dont provide one for the room locker
Best hostel ever with friendly staff”
Staff are friendly and helpful. They are willing to share with us the attractions nearby. Also, it is an unforgettable experience for staying in a historic building in Edinburgh. Also, it is very cheap and the location is very good that it is near to most attractions. The kitchen is very large that it was not crowded even when there are many people in it. Also, they provide us free coffee, tea and chocolate and necessary cooking equipment. I have met so many nice travellers and we all had a good time here. The common area is nice and cozy that allowed us to chat happily. They also hold different activities to gather travellers making this living experience a memorable one. It is probably one of the best hostels I have ever stayed!
Have A Wonderfull Stay”
A Great location in old town area
Close to everywhere ”
HSH located only 6 minutes of walking distance from Waverley. Strolling around here and take yourself to the St.Gile’s Cathedral, Princes Street, Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle, etc
relatively strategic location. good facilities -i.e. kitchen is huge to cater for many hostellers, hot chocolate is awesome. got tv for viewing and tables. impressive overall. would consider to stay again during next Edinburgh trip
Very friendly, central place”
I enjoyed staying at High Street Hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were good, the location is amazing. Rooms were comfortable even if a bit crowded. Bathrooms were clean. I'd stay here again for sure.
Very good location”
The hostel is nearly right on the Royal Mile. It was a very good location, close to various shops and restaurants. Of course, at one end of the Royal Mile is Edinburgh Castle and at the other end is the Palace of the Holyroodhouse. It is walking distance to the bus stops and the Waverley train station.
location is good”
everything was ok with the hostel. For a budget hostel, this is what you get for.Youth hostel that allowed you to meet new people.Their are kind to let us leave our luggage and stay even after checkout.some weird people are sleeping outside the room which can be very unconfortable after shower.
Probably the best hostel”
I stayed there for three nights and it was a decent experience. Even though I was staying in a 10-people dorm but it's not a crowded room. That means you have a lot of space. The room is tidy and neat, so as to the shared toilet and shower room. The staff at reception was friendly and they kept an eye on who's entering the hostel. A card is given upon arrival and you have to show it every time when going inside. The hostel itself is conveniently located and it's just a walking distance to nearly all attractions in Edinburgh.
Nice and clean”
Excellent location with good facilities and kitchenware. The place is clean. Nothing to complain :)
great location, nice common area with a large kitchen. worth of money.
It smells terrible.”
It smells terrible. The smell left on my closes for a little bit longer than I expected. I can get along with the tiney room as well as the inconveniences caused by no elevator. However, the crazy smell is bothering me even after I left.
- great location, just about 10 min walk to undergrand station, prince street, Edinburgh castle, etc. - nice staffs - big common place and big kitchen for us to use - big room - locker is available - clean toilets and bathrooms though they're shared - i would stay again if i come to Edinburgh again
One of the best!”
Excellent location, right in the middle of old town. Despite the huge hostel, everything was incredibly clean. Free coffee/hot chocolate/milk/tea in the kitchen and cheap breakfast (fruits, cereal, toast, variety of spreads, juices) for £1.90. Friendly staff, plenty of seating space in the kitchen with plenty of socket. 24/7 reception.
Nice Hostel Near in Royal Mile!”
1. Location is perfect! Just 3-5 min walk from Royal Mile. So close to all the Main Tourist Attractions. All 15-20 min walk in Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat, a lot more. 2. Common Toilets & Showers (Boys & Girls) were always clean and well-maintained. Hot Showers were all functioning well. 3. Have Complimentary (FREE) Coffee, Tea and Hot Choco in the Kitchen. 4. Can cook & bake. Just make sure you label your food (with your Name, Room and Date of Departure) so, nobody can take or throw your food. Kitchen is big. Have complete utensils, pans, plates, cups. Just clean everything after cooking! 5. Have an amazing lounge at ground floor. A lot of people hang-out every day & night. They allowed the guest to bring their own food & drinks! 6. Have strong WiFi access! in all areas. 7. Beds were comfortable. Have own bedside safes, lockers two power sockets and light bulb. Rooms are big so, no need to worry if someone is taking your space. 8. 15-20 min walk to Edinburgh Waverley Train Station and St. James Shopping Mall (for Bus Station) and 30-minute drive to Edinburgh Airport via Bus (located near in Edinburgh Waverley Train Station). 9. Laundry is cheap (GBP 3.50). You gave your laundry in the afternoon; in the evening they will return to you. You can also rent a towel for only 20 pence. Iron for clothes is available too at the common areas. 10. Have continental breakfast. Have to pay around GBP 2 (not bad). Comes with bread, cheese, coffee, fruit, juice and cereals. However, you can buy Subway outside which cost only GBP 2.50 for bread and coffee. 11. Check-in (2pm) and Check-out (10:30am) is quickly done. For 5-10 minutes you already have and return the keys. 12. Reasonable price. Around GBP 10-15 on weekdays. GBP 25-35 during weekend. 13. Staff are nice and helpful. 14. A lot of Free activities for guests. Pub Crawl, Beer Pong, etc. The only CON is that you can only stay here Maximum 2 weeks or 14 days and you are NOT allowed to return aga
Great location, great place to stay.”
We stayed here for the Edinburgh festival and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was clean throughout. You cannot fault the location as it's just off the royal mile and 5 minutes walk from Waverly station.
I really liked this place. It was super cheap and awesome.
