Great hotel for a skiing resort. Free shuttle to ski slope is convenient, although not as convenient as the condominium near the ski shop.

good discount coupons for ski and lift rental. avoid hotel hot bath and saunas, populated with round the clock gamblers who use it for shower and the floors to sleep on. a sore sight. the rest of the hotel is nice and the rooms look better than in pictures.

Great hotel for visits to High 1 ski resort”
Nice shower, casino
As with most Korean hotels, English speaking staff may be limited. (Kangwonland is above average in this aspect) The food options aren't that great given the size of the complex. Also there is no convenience store onsite. Otherwise, it's a fine resort and has great access to the ski slopes.

Big hotel”
Plenty of facilities
unless you know the timetable for the free shuttle bus, get a taxi from the train station (gohan) and you cannnot check-in until after 1345. friendly staff spoke good enough english. lack of english literature/guide/timetable was a bit of a hazzle but wasn't a show-stopper. get a shuttle bus timetable if you intend to get to the ski house (mountain/valley) and remember the last bus. personal opinion - book kangwonland instead of high 1 unless you don't mind the time required to travel up/down the mountain. some construction work going on nearby but didn't spoil the view. check out the sauna....

Interesting skiing experience - wonderful staff! ”
We went skiing at High 1 resort, clearly adapted for travelers trying skiing for the first time/only going skiing for half a day! You had to buy new lift tickets every day and also return your equipment every afternoon and go through the rental process again the next morning. The Kangwonland hotel was nice but eating options VERY limited, only a super expensive buffet (special double-the-price buffet only because of Lunar NY) and the café only opened at 9 am in the morning... We had a FANTASTICALLY nice experience though, as the Rooms team Manager Kim Jinseup really went out of his way and showed completely extraordinary care of the customers! He got worried we would miss our train going by bus in the slushy snow with heavy luggage, so he picked us up with his car and drove us to the train station - and he wouldn't even accept any tip for doing so! That's really excellent service and much much appreciated! Once again, a BIG thank you from the bottom of our hearts, dear Kim Jinseup!

Ski trip”
Staff, room, number of restaurants by hotel
We enjoyed our stay at Kangwonland. The staff were very helpful and were generally able to understand English, even if things sometimes look a longer to organise. With the buses to the ski area regularly running from the hotel it was a very convenient hotel to stay in if going skiing.

enjoyable stay”
The rooms, food (although a little on the pricey side) and the scenery
It was wonderful. Spent 3 nights and my son loved the snow play. The only thing missing is a convenience store for snacks and drinks. Something they should strongly consider. In lieu of this perhaps vending machines? Will defintely return

Stayed overnight to participate a conference”
quiet, new and affordable
This is a large high class place. At least some of the rooms (like mine) are available at affordable prices on short notice. I took advantage of this and stayed for one night participating a conference in the connected conference hotel. I am used to budget hotels, so it is no surprise that I cannot find anything to complain about int he quality of room or services. The relatively high prices at the restaurants have been mentioned by other reviewers. I brought my own food, so this was not a problem for me.

Great furnishings and nice staff”
Clean and nice environment, friendly staff
The hotel has a nice environment with plenty of options for meals. The rooms are spacious, clean and new. There are frequent shuttle services that would bring guests to the ski houses. Good WIFI connectivity. However, High 1 seems to be resort frequent by local tourists and therefore not many hotel staff were able to understand and communicate in English.

Good 5-star hotel but pricey”
Casino too crowded
Decent sized room with good shower facilities. Location was decent, located near the 2 ski houses, making it easy to travel to and fro the ski houses via shuttle bus. Hotel also has a nice garden area which provided a spectacular view when it snowed. Great place for pictures and fun in the snow. However, it was a little pricey and the casino was too crowded to enjoy gaming.

Location and big room
My 2nd time stay in this hotel and No change from my first visit, except the front officer bit unfriendly this time. Do not know why, might be I look untidy after 3.5 hrs travel by train and long waiting cab to get to hotel. Location is nearby ski resort and i like the facilities, amenities , in house restaurant and big room

enjoyed our time here, great facilities and the skiing was great. can be expensive with limited choice of places to eat, only really on site restaurants but the food was really good. loved feasting on the limitless supplies of sashimi at the evening buffet. improvement needed with the shuttle bus and travel between the different sites.

Nice Hotel with good facilities”
Near the ski field
After getting off from Gohan bus terminal, you can take taxi to the hotel in 10mins travelling time. We're surprised of a firework show specially provided by hotel for the new year celebration. Need to take shuttle bus to get to ski house from hotel and vice versa. One bad thing is the shuttle bus timetable is in korean only.

Clean hotel with good view”
Good buffet in the hotel
A few choices of accommodation in High 1 resort to choose from but since 3 of us, we decided to stay in a hotel. Enjoyed the buffet spread, free Christmas performance to watch, beautiful garden with Christmas deco to snap pictures. The free shuttle bus interval is too long (approx 1 hr), hence taking taxis at the flat rate of 5,000 won is more convenient and time saving. Need to take taxi or shuttle bus from this hotel to the ski area (near the condo), but no taxi back to hotel, hence need to wait for the shuttle bus. Though journey is long (abt 3.5 hrs) but the train ride is comfortable. Sad that the ski resort has removed their train transport service.

Well-themed hotel with activities for all ages”
Nice and clean; well sign-posted and knowledgeable staff
Hotel has a very interesting facade when approaching from the main road. Although, the casino is a big draw, it is the other activities such as the sundown show at the lake, the pool, the bowling that are suitable for people of other ages. The convenience store is another plus point for hotel guests to pick up essentials.

Very nice hotel with large rooms”
Clean and luxurious
This is one of the nicest hotels in Korea. The rooms are nice and big. It is out in the mountains so the weather was a lot nicer than in Seoul. Avoid the Casino! It is not Las Vegas. They have free movies in the theater and have a couple of live show per day. Don't miss the water and laser show at night! They have a great golf course!

Grand but not foreigner-friendly”
the room is grand
The room is big and luxurious in comparison with hotels of similar grade in Korea, it is also good that I was offered 40% discount coupon for ski rental and entrance fee. The drawback is that almost all facility illustration is in Korean and I always had to ask the staff, they were pleasured to explain to me though.

Fancy 5 star hotel close to High 1 Ski Resort”
Spacious room
We stayed here for 3 nights for purpose of skiing in High 1. The hotel is quite accessible by public transportation(bus & train) from Seoul, and free shuttle bus from Gohan downtown(about 30 min. during day time). The room we got was spacious, with great lake view, too. Its English speaking staff was very helpful & friendly. The only shortcoming would be its lack of cost-friendly restaurants, though it can be cured by a 10 minutes bus ride to Gohan downtown. Generally speaking, we had a great stay here and enjoyed skiing in Korea.
