Convenient and Comfortable”
I stayed over night with 3 small children, all around I would stay here again. The rooms are a little older but they have everything you need. I did find a few long hairs in the bathroom which I am assuming is the cleaner because I found one on the bed too. The staff were very friendly.
nice room 5pax”
helpful staff.. but the toilet light at 3rd floor always on off it’s annoying me.. nice place for me.. cause can sleep peacefully in the night.. not crowded place near with king cross station.. if i came sydney again i’ll stay here again
Great budget stay option”
This was my Eleventh stay at Highfield Hotel in two years. The staff are always so helpful, but special mention must go to recent addition Peter. Peter goes out of his way to make all guests feel welcome and he is never too busy for a chat. This is what makes Highfield Hotel a real home away from home. Likewise Owner Adrian and son Eden go the extra mile to ensure that all of their guests have a pleasant stay. The free included breakfast is plentiful and of good quality. The availability of a kitchen with hot plates, oven and microwave is a welcome feature if you need to self cater. The communal bathrooms have all been renewed and are generally clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms more spacious than other budget offerings in the area. The location is second to none being a short walk to the Train Station, Woolworths, Coles, restaurants and the Kings Cross nightlife. I personally prefer the Highfield Hotel to more expensive properties I have stayed in the area.
The hotel has a super convenient location. The room is small but clean and well-equipped. The manager upgraded us to a better room with extra AUD20 that was very good. And the price is very very reasonable.
This is a backpackers, with a few rooms that have an ensuite. Everything was fine, but just know that this is a backpackers and is aimed at people with a tight budget. Having said this, Its cheaper to book other places a bit cheaper than here. But I did have a good stay.
(booked double ensuite room at the 3rd Floor) budget accommodation helpful and polite staff (provided assistance on tours, airport shuttle and electric adaptor) easy check-in and check-out cozy room / small bathroom comfortable bed with hot and cold shower basic traveller needs met (soap, shampoo, bathroom tissue, towels, linens, electric fan, ref., LCD TV, wifi, reading maps, tour brochure, free sim card) strategic location (walking distance to local tourist attractions) 2 -3 min. walk to Kings Cross Train Station nearby coles supermarket and small restaurants (dine-in)/food stalls (take-away food) quiet, decent and safe area/vicinity nearby pick-up point for tours (Holiday Inn - Kingscross) CONS: climbing up the stairs up to 3rd floor, no lift for those with big and many luggages P.S. Airport shuttle service available for 16AUD only. (from airport to hotel or vice-versa)
Thank you for your comprehensive review and will arrange a lower floor for your next booking
Staff is extremely helful. The wall is very thin. U can hear everythig from next door. My night the couple next to my door was fighting. I couldnt sleep well.... so noisy indian!
Very friendly and nice staff and close to subway”
This is my second stay here. Staff are very nice and friendly. They do provide simple breakfast with coffee, tea, toast and egg. Stayed in shared bathroom double room this time, due to the ensuite room was sold out. There is tv, fridge and small basin in the room. The room is very small as expected, unfortunately, it look old too. Slightly disappointing with it. However, the shared bathroom is very clean. Next time, I would still prefer the ensuite room which is more comfortable. Thanks again to Peter and Adrian which make our stay here welcoming, hope to see you all again.
thank you for your review please contact us early so we can hold the EnSute for you KInd Regards from Adrian and Peter
Highly recommended! Polite and helpful staff with some tips on how to save and enjoy the holiday on Aussie. Great breakfast. Clean bathroom and Free wifi. You dont have to buy Sim Card since you can search at the comfort of your own room.
Good location, value for budget travellers”
Place is clean and good value if you’re on a budget. Comfortable bed. Staff are helpful and friendly. Last night of my stay was wrecked by a group of Chinese-speaking guests who were loud and disruptive and had no regard for the comfort of other guests.
An attractive photo but disappointing room to stay”
During our stay, we found many small insects in our room which is including cockroaches. Kitchen has a small fridge (it's a bar fridge for the whole hotel) and did not have space to put our frozen food. The room is too small for two of us, only one person can go through the exit and the room is not clean at all!
A convenient place to stay with a kitchen and a new bathroom. Travellers should know that the free WIFI is very limited and you would need to purchase WIFI extra to do much more than check your email.
Good and cheap if all you need is a bed and little breakfast”
The room was pretty small and if you have a few different electronic devices to charge, the power points were scarce. There's a TV but I didn't find much interesting on the channels available. The WiFi is okay but you only get 500 MB a day, which seems standard most places in Sydney. You have to share a bathroom and there's only one bathroom for males and one for females. The breakfast is decent. You can have coffee, tea, cereal, toast, cheese, and boiled eggs. The kitchen is smallish but it can seat maybe 10 patrons. You can sit there with your laptop during the day but I found it a bit too tight an environment. The general manager is nice enough. He'll help you with your bags. If you're looking for a bed and not somewhere to hang out, it's a good option.
Location is very good”
except for showering and sleeping didn't spend much time in this hotel but I doubted why it had called itself a hotel It actually have a TV and a small fridge in the room which is not normally found in backpacker hostel but regarding to its other facilities it shouldn't called itself a hotel. The room is quite old and smelt like it was not occupied for a while. It looked quite tidy. My boyfriend had a problem with the noises in the midnights though I am not aware of it while I was asleep. The location is the only good thing, only a minute walk to the King Cross station, supermarket, restaurants nearby and open till midnight.
Nothing in Room, only Bed & Sink”
Stayed there for 3 nights. The room is so small and nothing in my room, only bed & sink! Free Wifi & clean enough for the room because this hotel was under repainting during staying there. Shared bathroom is clean enough. Good location! Close to King Cross Station & only 1.5km walking distance to CBD and 2km walking to Sydney Opera House
Staff is great”
This place isn't the greatest looking but it has all that you need. The rooms are old but clean with tv and your own mini fridge. Staff is crazy helpful and nice. Breakfast is pretty good. Location is right next to train station.
Photos supplied on Agoda completely misleading as to the actual hotel. Room had no chair or table ( I had to ask for them). Seriously needs some decoration, better lighting. Internet flaky, third floor up narrow stairs, electronic gates would never consider staying here again. With just a little bit of effort and investment it could have been so much better than the stingy place it is. Maybe I am spoiled by Thailand where for the price I paid here it would have been a first class hotel.
MY stay was only for a couple of nights but,it was very pleasant. Rooms were clean and well aired even though the Building seemed to be old. Certain extras like kitchen facilities plus tea & coffee were supplied. The room was equiped with a heater which was very practical on one(1) one very wet night. The standard of security was very impressive. Any other guests which I encountered there were very cordial.
Backpackers place with excellent facilities”
my initial impression was oh dear ! but the staff were lovely and very very helpful, it is well situated in a lively part of sydney with excellent train links and easy walking distance to the bridge and opera house. you had access to the communal kitchen which included breakfast and the facilities to make your own food if you want or you have many eateries within easy walking distance.
good location, worth money ”
The room was okay and worth money. we got 4 beds for only 2 of us. no fan no air condition but the weather wasn't bad so doesn't matter. not too noisy even it is very close to main street. Bathroom is a little bit dirty makes me don't want to step on the bathroom ground with empty feet.
