Not bad”
It's so high with koh toch beach. If you find out one places to quiet then here's good for you. You go turn left from port to through small bridge and keep go steep up will see the board " Highland beach Bugalow 120m". It's nearly center crowed Koh Toch Beach, you should be there at night.

Clean and nice view but steep way up on the hill”
Clean and quiet place (kind of quiet if you consider Khmer New Year). View over the bay is really nice. There are two cold showers and two toilets outside the building (100m) and there will be mosquitos waiting for you. The mosquito net around the bed was not the best we saw here, but it was working enough to protect us. Keep in mind that this is on hill, we couldnt find it at the first time - when you arrive at the pier, you have to go left, cross a small bridge over a dump station full of rubish, keep going uphill on some kind of long stairs, there will be a school on your left side, keep going straight until you find this Bungalows. It is really steep and also more humid and hot up here.

I checked in for 2 nights and it was not far from the village, 10 mins walking from the food options.

Great place but the neighbors are better. ”
I booked one night here for 15$ and got two single beds in a dark bedroom. The location was nice and silent so I decided to book another night. Unfortunately they were full but recommended me next door which was cheaper, had a double bed and a bathroom in toilet in the same building, as opposed to down in the garden with Highland Beach.

Great view from Koh Rong”
The place is up hill and you are going to get up there tiiired, but the view is worth it. You have a lot of privacy and at the same time it's close to the beach and the main attractions. The bungalow is very basic, you get a lot of company of geckos and other insects at night as the bungalow is not properly built, but nothing to worry about. The place is super clean and it has a proper mosquito net where you'd be safe. If you are picky and don't like being IN nature, don't stay here. But we really loved our 3 nights here. Overall I'd reccommend it and I'd stay here again.

nice room, dirty bathroom”
We liked the room, the atmosphere was good. The shared bathroom was kind of dirty and full of mosquitos. In the night, there are a different animals'sounds to hear what was nice and relaxing for us. But the karaoke bar next to the houses is very loud and kind of annoying.

Good stay”
The Bungalow and the Bathroom were clean. The view over the beach from the balcony was beautiful and it was totally worth it going up the hill for it. The staff was also nice. Because the Bungalows are close to the jungle and a bit open on the sides near the roof, small animals can come inside, but that should not be a problem because there are mosquito nets.

Bad planning”
When we arrived the pathway was blocked whilst they were "constructing" a new path. Whilst it was needed, there was no way to get up other than clamoring over rocks, bullets , fallen branches and undergrowth.. The bungalows should have been closed for the duration. When we arrived we were told there is Karaoke at the next door (affiliated) restaurant, but "it's ok, it finishes at midnight ". Well it's NOT OK, it's awful, the same guy carrying on all night every night at full blast. Good thing about it though is that at last I have found someone with a worse voice than mine. Will I go there again. No way!

Amazing view but hard to get to”
If you have a backpack and normal legs its no problem to stay here! Amazing view but you have to want about 15 min from the ferry and half way is uphill. A steep "road" that wasn't a roat at the point of our stay but they were fixing parts of it so maybe it will get better. Helpful staff, a lot of mosquitos.

Stunning view!”
On the mountainside right in the jungle. Very cool but the road going there is rocky. Very steep climb to the bungalow. Not friendly for walking if you got healthproblems or in other ways are handicapped. We loved the view. A lot of bugs and its nice and quit, exept for the karaeoke from the restaurant. That stops at midnight and was not a problem. Would go again:)

Overall a beautiful getaway spot”
very beautiful location to chill, recharge and get away from the crowd. Toilet is really clean! and afternoon looking out to the view is awesome. However, i personally struggled a lot to sleep in the middle of the jungle with all the sound of the animals all around where we were. You can see lizards, monitar lizards (which we are scared of terribly) around. I suggest if you are a nature lover, this will suit you a lot. Not a place for everyone.

Excellent guesthouse spoiled by neighbouring property”
First the good part. This guesthouse is located on the hillside with beautiful views over the bay and when we stayed (6-8 Nov) we weren't disturbed by music from the village below. It is very peaceful in the daytime and for us (mid 30s) was an easy 10 minute walk from the pier the GTVC speedboat dropped us at with a 15kg backpack each. Be aware that most of the path on the hillside is rough with rocks pushed into dirt so wear appropriate footwear - trainers, not flip flops! The rooms are typical of these islands and have a rustic feel. You're basically in a treehouse :) Now to the bad part, the neighbouring PoS "Chorm Piey Sor Guesthouse" plays music at nightclub volume from about 6pm despite the fact it appears there is nobody in there. This goes on until midnight and from about 9pm has some of the worst kaoroke I've ever heard. Total bellends. Hopefully they'll close down, Highland is otherwise perfect.

Acceptable”
I decided to book this place under the impression that this place will be away from the busy party scene at the beach so I may enjoy the view and have a piece of quite. It is away from the party crowds alright BUT the building right next to the bungalows is a big karaoke place, the locals sing their heart out form 8 pm to midnight. The huge speakers hang outside the bar and the volume was turned to Max. It was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I hate to give this kind of review which will damage their business, but this is definitely will ruin your vacation if you stay here.

The bungalows were exactly what we expected - basic but had everything we needed. Yes, there are gaps in the flooring etc. but we had no problems with bugs in the room. Lovely staff and dogs. Nice little porch with chairs to enjoy the view :)

Not worth its price”
Hotel is far from pier compared to other accomodations! Its in a hilly side of the edge of the town so getting there will sweat you out. Nice view of the town and sea. But not worth it 20us for me. Other hotels have provate rooms from 8-12 us and are more convinient. Probably better to just walk in and check the rooms before booking online.

Awesome place”
I don't really understand the bad reviews. I guess they come from miserable bitter sad and high-maintenance people who just need to complain about everything so they can feel better... This place is great, it's literally 5 minutes walk from the pier, 5, not 10 not 15, only 5. And the climbing isn't hard at all, perhaps with crotchets or wheelchair, but anyone can do it comfortably. Plus it's called Highland for a reason for God's sake. What were you expecting? A Ritz 5 star hotel by the beach? Then it would be another price. Now the bugs, all lies, I didn't see any other than a couple of geckos who actually ate all the mosquitoes. Now the WiFi, there is WiFi, I repeat, there's WiFi so again don't listen to all the lies in the previous reviews. It's incredible how some miserable Westerners can just throw reviews slagging off a place without thinking of the consequences for the poor local people who are just trying to make some money. And the view is great by the way

Great view but be ready for creatures ”
Staying at Highland is great for the fab view but be aware requires a steep incline. Well located for the main bars and restaurants but get used to nature as it will be in your room! All fine except we're 95% certain a rat was within our four walls!

The walk is long”
Positives: beautiful view, nice and quiet away from the party hostels. Was clean enough. And they had 5 gorgeous puppies hanging around reception :) Negatives: The walk is really long! Its uneven, rocky and even once you reach reception the concrete steps to the bungalows are difficult! If you don't have backpacks it would be verryyyy difficult. No restaurant up there means you need to do the climb for every meal. And don't even think about buying snacks and bringing them back up, the rats will get the food! No fridge in room either. Note: the address on Agoda is incorrect, its actually left at the pier right to the very end.

You better be fit enough to hike up”
Will give it to this place for one thing and one thing only - the view. But not like ur going to be sitting outside at the porch the whole day right. Standard facilities (no aircon). Some of the newer beach bungalows have aircon so do check them out. No hot water (u weren't expecting that up in the hills were you). I'm a 32 yr old, with decent average fitness. Walking up and down is indeed tiring. That too with flip flops. 3 times a day and that's exhausting. As you alight from the ferry, everything to the left isn't very nice. You're better off taking the bungalows or guest houses right in front of the beach to the right of the pier with easy access to the beach as well. Given this highland bungalow is high atop, you can definitely expect peace and tranquillity, away from the party zone. Check out is at 10am for those who are interested. There's also no wifi. But so doesn't a few of the other bungalows as well. In all, my opinion is that it's not a real deal for the amount you pay.
