Very charming Cottage. The staff was extremly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when we stayed they only served Continental breakfast but there are a couple of good Restaurants within Walking distance so that was not an issue. Would definitely recommend the Hill Cottage when staying in Nuwara Eliya.

A great cottage in Nuwara Eliya”
This cottage has such a great character. It's such a beautiful cottage inside and out. It is centrally located where you could walk to the town and also to the Victoria Park, and a 15mins walk to Gregory Lake. The only problem that we have is since the wall is so thin (I think), we were awoken one morning with a loud TV from our neighbor's room. I guess you shouldn't waste your time in bed while in Nuwara Eliya ;-)

We were sight-seeing Sri Lanka on our honeymoon. My husband is English so staying in Hill Cottage brought him back to memory lane. He is impressed with all the British colonial decoration and touches. The place is very new-ish. It is in between The Grant Hotel and The Hill Club. We had nice meals out at both hotels.

Lovely place to stay with really attentive staff. Perfect for relaxing. Walking distance from restaurants and in between Grand Hotel and Hill Cottage Club. Quaint and well restored and preserved property with all the essential modern amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

Classic Historical Site”
This cottage will soon celebrate its 200th anniversary. It’s a piece of colonial history right beside the famous Hill Club and just minutes stroll to the Grand Hotel. Our room had wood appointments and classical old styling, very comfortable. Staff are nice although English is limited. There is no AC but there is an electrical heater in the fireplace. We were cozy for a winter January stay. Facilities are limited, not even alcohol is served., but you are close to all the action in this tiny town so drinks are close by. We loved the Hill Cottage: location, colonial history and good value. We will stay here again.

Great stay with excellent staff ”
The manager waited for us to arrive past midnight. He and his staff checked us in promptly and carried our luggage into our rooms. The next evening, we enjoyed an evening with wine in the beautiful garden followed by a sumptuous curry dinner. Kudos to the team of Cottage Hill Given an opportunity, we shall gladly return.

Lovely cottage very centally located, right next to Hill Club and Grand hotel. Very quiet however. Has a fantastic garden and views over surrounding hills. Interior needs a makeover, but its still good value for money spent.

Value, but not the best”
Maybe our review is biased because we arrived at Nuwar Eliya on the New Year's festival day. The town was crowded, noisy and dirty. We stayed at Hill Cottage for three nights. Staffs were very nice and breakfast was good. The room (they called it "the best room") was spacious. However, it wasn't clean and not properly maintained. The furniture selection was odd. The hotel was very noisy at late night because other guests had a small party. It was an old cottage and the room door did not close properly so we heard a lot of noise from other rooms. The hotel located in the 10 min walking distance from the town center, but the road was very dark with high traffic.

It really is a cottage and it's lovely. A bit hard to find at first but very welcoming hosts who were really helpful. We went on a tour very early in the morning and they prepared a breakfast for us. Lovely garden and in a quiet location.

Beautiful property and style”
Loved the old British architecture and decor of this boutique hotel. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We arrived at night, check-in was smooth and easy. The rooms are big and super clean. The bathrooms are new and have beautiful fixtures. Breakfast is delicious and serve a lot!

Spacious rooms Spectacular Breakfast ”
Beautiful rooms with extremely comfortable beds. A wide selection of tv channels to relax watching after a huge day of sight seeing or hitting a thousand balls at the nearby golf course. The chef prepared us a different breakfast every morning and each and everyone was DELICIOUS! One afternoon we simply relaxed in the beautiful garden with a few lion beers. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. Thanks a million.

Overpriced but with potential”
Definitely the hotel is significantly overpriced. The quality of the room, its minimal and worn out furniture, the bathroom and extremely basic breakfast justify 30%-40% LOWER price. 100-120$ per night (including taxes) is way too much for what you offer. Clearly, the hotel has a lot of potential since the building and the garden in front of it are really nice. However, in order to take advantage of it, the rooms/bathrooms require extra investment and renovation (fix the ceilings, paint the walls (!), change these almost halogen ceiling lamps, add bed side tables with lamps, add bed benches, nicer chairs and install sunbeds/umbrellas in the garden. Once you do it, the price you charge will be entirely justified. Otherwise, you will continue irritating and disappointing your guests. The excellent location and the quality of staff will not compensate the gap between the price and the value you offer. Good luck.

Cozy little boutique hotel in a British bungalow”
This hotel is basically a British-era bungalow converted into a 6-room hotel. So, the environment of the hotel is very nostalgic, moody and cozy. It's also surrounded by lot of greenery. The rooms are big, with a fireplace and all, but can get a little cold during the night. The location is also good - close to the market and restaurants like Grand Indian and Grand Thai. The service is very good and personal. The breakfast was nice but small - it could have included a few more dishes like more fruits and juices.

the staff is extremly nice trying to make our stay as confortable as possible and since we were the only guests we were very well welcomed. it is an old english cottage with old furniture but the rooms are clean .
