Beautiful hotel close to a quiet beach
A good stay here. Beautiful hotel grounds. Can be a lot of mosquitoes but staff spray the room and will give you a coil if you sit on your veranda in the evening. Power only at night, but that was not much of a problem, especially as it was cool season. A nice mostly empty beach close by and yet only about 20 mins walk to the main Chaungtha beach if you want to go and see the vibrant local beach scene. Breakfast was fine. However other food options not so great, so it may be a bit difficult/limited if you do not have transport at night time. You can hire motorbikes from here, and the hotel also provide a free Tuk Tuk to pick you up/drop you off at the bus stop. - Check with the hotel or ask on the bus where to get dropped off as you need to get off before the main bus station.

mouse in the bungalow
arrived middle of the night. hostel came to pick up us in the main road for free. bungalow was good, but the third night a mouse came inside and stayed 2 hours. impossible to left it. The day after, the owner just said us "ok I will check". No professionnal. And we rent two motorbikes 10 thousand per day each. however, i felt with it, hopefully very slow without mistake, damage and injuries. but the hostel knew it and wanted to charge us 15000 for none damage (exept 1 cm of plastic scratch) without check of motorbike before the rent.

Don't go
I booked air-conditioning room and request twins beds, but they only double beds after we are checked in. Their reception guy told us only available twin beds with air fan.Ans said can cancel booking with Agoda. We booking another in Agoda, but money not refund to us. Very bad road in raining season, you can find out much better and cheaper hotels in Chuangtha then it.

Good quality for the price, quiet location and nice bungalow
We stay with friends one week end. The staff was helpful (they come pick up us at the bus stop in the middle of the night, although we have to wait for them), the bamboo bungalow are simple but clean enough, you can go to the beach by walking and city center and other beaches by 5mn motorbike. I would recommend it, the only thing is the staff could not book our bus to go back to Yangon from pathein or give us a phone number to call, so we were stuck in patthein with no bus seat avalaible.

The beach hut was nice, food was good and the staff were very friendly.
Just a 15 minute walk south on the beach to find people and bars etc.

Above average
Worst part was knowing that there was electricity only from 6 to 6. Rest of the time we were suffocating from the heat (which was worse inside than outside). Their bicycles were also not free although on Agoda it said they were. Otherwise it was fine. We wouldn't have left if there was electricity.

Great relaxing location
We had a bungalow with a private bathroom. It was really comfortable. No AC but did have a fan. It might be hot in the summer but during winter, it's perfect. We would have stayed longer but the food was really bland. Maybe they are trying to make western friendly food but they should just make Burmese authentic food. The food is sooo good in this country but at this hotel, it was so boring. There was nowhere nearby to eat either.

Awesome times
We booked in for 3 nights but ended up extending another night because we liked it so much. You couldn't get nicer staff, they are all friendly and happy. Be aware of the angry geese at the entrance, they do force you to do a bit of exercise and run for your life. But it's all fun and games. It's a cheap and beautiful hotel with an amazing all you can eat breakfast in the morning. Don't depend too much on the wifi but at a place like this you shouldn't need it. 👍

bamboo hotel
+ bamboo bungalows are very nice + staff is very friendly and helpful + pancakes for breakfast + only 5minutes walk to the beach + D&W's place: highly recommended for having dinner --> two footsteps from the sea, talkative and friendly cook - chaungtha itself is not beautiful - don't expect nice cafés in the village
