Stunning views, good hikes, helpful staff”
We have just spent 2 nights here in one of the superior rooms, which had a full length glass window and door looking out onto a beautiful view - you can see the Udawalawe reservoir way in the distance. The tuktuk drive from Ohiya railway station is an adventure in itself, as the road is very uneven - the driver certainly earned his 500 rupees. We were greeted by the owner Eomal and his staff, all very helpful, and we sat and had a welcome cup of tea. The room was simply furnished but modern, mossie net above the bed, extra blankets, and the shower provided plenty of hot water, which was much appreciated after a walk where we got totally drenched. Evening meal is included in the price, and was very tasty - fish curry one night, chicken the next, with at least 4 side dishes, and plenty more if required. The owner also gave us all a glass (for free) of his homemade date wine - sweet and like port - which was delicious. We were going to do the Worlds End walk, but the views around this place are so stunning, we decided to do a hike from the lodge to Idalgashinna railway station and back - 5 hours of beautiful varied terrain, and only saw 2 other hikers throughout! The next morning, we did a 3 hour hike around the area, through the tea plantations and occasional workers communities, before the clouds came rolling in. Eomal kindly let us use a room when we got back, to have a shower and repack all our gear, and have yet another cup of tea, before leaving for the railway station. You can get drinking water and order some packed lunches, but nothing else here, no Internet. This is a wonderful place to get away from the crowds, do some great hikes, see local tea workers.

the owner was rude”
It's difficult to arrive the lodge. We arrived late(at around 10pm), the road to the lodge is rough and dark. We had called the lodge several times, trying to ask for the location but no one answer. The mobile connection, internet and even phone call, is bad maybe because of the location. The owner is RUDE. We had a problem about the stay of our driver, the owner was not helpful and he even yelled at us. He kept asking for our trust but he could not answer what we were asking. We did NOT enjoy our stay here even the room is clean, with beautiful view.

staff are nice, friendly and helpful, and they make nice food. The view is great! No internet, the signal is poor for making calls. And the road is terrible!

Location location location. ”
This place is a bit hard to reach. Most people hikes there. The lodge does provide shuttle bus. But once your there, it scenery is totally worth it. Staff was extremely friendly. Definitely go with he full board or bald board as there is nothing around but beautiful nature. The only thing I wish it had was wifi or internet connection.

This is a great Lodge in a unique location. ”
It is a difficult place to reach as it is so high up and the final stretch of road is really bad. But the view when you arrive makes it all worth while. Feel like you are on top of the world. Great location to reach world end. Only 20 mins drive away. Also the staff and free meals are great. The owner is very friendly and clearly loves where he lives.

nice stay”
It 's a 1.5 hour (nice) walk from the railwaystation, through the forest and the last part with a spectaculer view. Friendly owner and good meals. It was no problem for them to give us a 5 in the morning breakfast. The view from the lodge is great!
