Disappointing
Rooms were very old and not to a standard of a Hilton hotel. Room was overpriced for the quality of the room and the location (not in city centre). Bed was very uncomfortable.

Comfortable
It was our first time visiting Ediburgh and it was a great feeling, coming to the hotel that was comfortable. We really enjoyed the service and the staff was helpful. However, the toilet made squeaky noise. The breakfast was excellent and the location was great for walking distance to the center and to the hop on hop off bus.

Awful - Look at other hotels
Very outdated room, very small, noisy floor boards from rooms above. Facilities in room were all in terrible condition and are in need of replacing. Worst Hilton I've ever stayed in, wouldn't expect this poor quality from such a big brand. Surprised they're happy to have their name above the door. On the plus side the staff were helpful and friendly and the location wasn't too bad, only a short walk to the centre.

Worst Room Ever
When the receptionist gave me, it should have been 321 go.......Worst designed room I have ever stayed in. You couldn't see the television unless you were sitting on the bed. Only one chair in the room, but it was supposed to be a double room, so where the other person sits, who knows. I think this room was originally a single and then decided to make it a double! Didn't use the bar, but had breakfast which was ok. Would I go back, don't think so....

Edinburgh stay
location, friendly and helpful staff
Easy to walk to many sights and the convention center. Rooms are a bit small and outdated, need some cleanup but staff are wonderful. They are very helpful with your needs.

This is a Guest House, not a hotel
Location
This is definitely not a Hilton standard hotel. Indeed it is not even a hotel. My room was like a down-market guest house or Bed & Breakfast standard. How on earth they got to use the Hilton name is beyond me. When I arrived to check in (late evening) it was quiet. Still it took a long time to actually check in (despite telling them in advance that I would check in late evening). After checking in, I was told that I was not staying in the main building but across the road in another building, with no reception. Just as well I am still fit and able to wheel my large case along the road to the other property, then carry it up a could of flight of stairs to get to my room. There was no floor space to put my case down and I therefore had to put it on the single bed to open it and unpack some clean clothes. The room was cold. The TV was on the wall beside the bed which meant you had to lay on your wide in bed to look up at the TV. The room felt like it was a Bed and Breakfast - not a nice one. In the morning I walked down the road for breakfast and had to ask 3 times for coffee, the first woman telling me it wasn't her job and someone else would come. Nobody came so I stopped another staff member and she said that she would bring it. She didn't. I asked a third staff member and had finished my breakfast before she turned up (assuming that she bothered). The cooked breakfast was average and the other options were limited. Again, definitely not a Hilton hotel experience. And definitely not a 4 star experience. This hotel is 2 star at best - perhaps a 3 star if it is graded as a guest house. The location is very good but I wont be back here again and it will be a while until I book another Hilton hotel on the back of this experience. I do not mind paying for a good hotel, but really do not like false advertising and short changing guests. If you want to stick the Hilton sign above the door then at least make an effort.

Nice hotel
location breakfast room
Had a great couple of nights here. There does seem to be quite a difference between the size of the rooms. My Mum stayed in 308 which while it had a window it was so high you couldn't see out. The room was also very small but with lots of big furniture so it was difficult to get around in the room. 309 by contrast was almost double the size with a window looking out onto a lovely square and a church. If possible request a room that faces out onto the back for a nice view.
