Super hotel and responding to the improving competition as well. Well worth a stay”
There have been numerous hotels opened in Helsinki over the passed few years and we have stayed in a few of them. An attractive room offer brought us back to Hilton Helsinki Strand and we wish we would have stayed there all the time. We have had some odd experiences at some of the newer places - somewhat snooty and in one case definitely ageist - and I am not even 60 years old yet! Hilton Helsinki Strand is friendly to families, well liked by business travellers and can cater for larger groups as well. Some may say that its position is less amenable but as the Hakaniemi district is brought through the curve in terms of cafes and places to go I would say that being a couple of metres off the beaten track is an advantage. Well done HHS, we would hope to stay again!
charming hotel”
We enjoyed our 3 nights stay at Hilton Helsinki Strand. The hotel is a bit old but still a charming great hotel. It was my first stay in a room with heated floor bathroom and I've been travelling extensively in the past 12 years, but maybe it was my first stay in northern Europe. The breakfast was excellent with plenty quality foods and enough table and chairs to cater the hotel guests, staff were excellent ready to serve you. The reception staff were very good, particularly one young trainee who gave us late check out till 4pm after requesting it to her supervisor. Location is excellent close to shopping center, market and boat/ferry terminal (20 to 30 mins walking).
Outstanding Hotel”
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Helsinki Strand. Check in was 2pm but when we arrived at 8am and asked to leave our bags, we were immediately given a room with an upgrade. Our room was very stylish and had everything you require for complete comfort. Front desk staff gave above and beyond service and always with a smile. Breakfast was absolutely beautiful and the staff exceptional. We would definitely stay again and recommend this Hotel very highly. Excellent quality for money.
Good but not outstanding”
Strand is just like any other good hotel in Helsinki - they all seem to be pretty much the same. Despite the fact that Strand has the reputation of being one of the very best, it doesn't really stand out of the crowd. Don't take me wrong - Strand is still a very good hotel and I will be happy to stay there again! But not if the price is considerably higher than others'. Having said that, I must commend the staff for being able to allocate us a room already at 8 am although the official check-in time is only 2 pm. Also, the breakfast area is very pleasant, and I really enjoyed having a lazy Saturday morning breakfast there although the breakfast itself was not any different from any other major hotel in Helsinki - maybe even below that. I also enjoyed the sauna and the swimming pool, and the view from the swimming pool balcony is really nice.
Excellent”
Staff were extremely helpful and the hotel was in a great location. Looking forward to our next trip to Helsinki and our stay at the Hilton Strand.
Very enjoyable”
We had a very good stay at the Hilton Helsinki Strand. Indeed, we felt lucky that the conference organizer chose this hotel. It was conveniently located, within walking distance to almost all tourist attractions, including the farmer's market.
Helsinki hotel”
This hotel was in a great location for our first visit to Helsinki, we arrived from the airport by after our flight and was greeted pleasantly by the reception staff and shown to our room. The room was a queen -sized room which was more than adequate for us, it was reasonably well apppointed and had a safe and mini bar. Breakfast was served in the restaurant area and was of a self service nature, some hot and cold foods and more than enough to choose from. The hot water for the tea was from a thermos type flask and this made the tea a little unappetising. We had bought an Helsinki card and so made use of the excellent public transport to get around. the hotel is conveniently located for this. We ate in the restaurant one evening, steak in a pepper type sauce and the food was very nice indeed. The menu was a little small and there wasnt a great choice. the wine again was limited and a little overpriced Overall we had an enjoyable stay and wouldnt hesitate to stay here again
Good location with River view”
We stayed at Hilton Strand for 2 nights as our stopover to Switzerland.. and were very satisfied with our stay there. Transportation is very convenient and lots of shopping centres just within walking distance. The hotel is just next to a river which is quite a pleasure to talk a slow walk with. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great location, superb facilities, big rooms”
Stayed for 3 nights for Helsinki sightseeing. Hotel location was very good as it is walking distance to the train station, city center, and most of the attractions (i.e. rock church, senate square, etc.)Facilities are great - they have a big pool (although it was not very well heated when we visited in December), and they have very good sauna rooms. Food in the restaurant is a bit pricey. Overall, we had a very nice stay and will definitely go back
Nice location plus Hilton standards”
We stayed there for 2 nights coming back from a camping trip, needless to say, we needed comfort! We had a big room with a really nice sea view. The bed was really good and I slept like a baby. It's centrally located, a 15min walk from the station and really close to a subway and tram station. The service is excellent conform to Hilton standards. The breakfast buffet was really good. The gym, sauna and pool were higly appreciable. The swimming pool though small is realy nice and it was a pleasure to have a relaxing sauna at night. The only downs I could find are that the hotel is pretty old and you can see that in the furniture they have in the room. Still it's beautiful but it would be excellent if renovated a bit! Finally you have to pay to get wireless internet in the rooms which is a bit annoying as you have to go to the lobby to get free internet.
Nice business hotel close to city center”
A pretty nice hotel with good staff located just a bit out of downtown but a 10 minutes walk to Helsinki central station. It's a great place to discover downtown and enjoy a nice view over the lake and park in a more peaceful but safe and clean area of the city. Nice breakfast, nice staff and very large room with good amenities
SURPRISING HELSINKI”
We had a great time in Helsinki and Hilton played a major role. Hotel is an easy walk to everywhere and we literally walked around the city. Yet we are almost surrounded by nature that keeps the city noise out !
Very nice hotel and an excellent breakfast”
Enjoyed a short vacation in Helsinki. Good hotel about 10 min. walk from the city center. Would be happy to stay there again.
Average and dated, in a nice location though”
Hilton Helsinki Strand is in a nice location not far from the city centre. It is quite old though and everything else is average. Our room, which faces the sea, offers great view.
Good quiet location and heated bath floor”
I was given a room with a good view lookingover the lake. Superb! As I witnessed the lake freeze up over the night. Helsinki is small relatively so location was useful due to proximity to supermarket and tram stop. Staff were nice and courteous. Only thing missing was FOC wifi.
Nice hotel with friendly staff near city center”
we had lovely stay at hiltbon strand. first we had some troubles with check-in probably because of their new computer system. after that everything went smoothly. breakfast was good. access to the trams and metro is not far away. also senaatintori and esplanadi is reachable by walking.
very comfortable and affordable”
Wonderful stay at the hilton, lovely area to walk around with river views both sides of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, great english. Overall very happy with our stay here.
Nice hotel on the outskirts of town”
I stayed at this location for 2 night and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff are so friendly and speak excellent english. There is a buffet available on saturdays for 29 euros... food tasted good. . The gym is tiny. there are like 2 upper body weigh machines and 2 legs machines. The picture advertised on the website makes it look so much bigger. the pool is not heated and bloody freezing and the saunas are small and can only be used certain hours. . Overall it is about 15-20min walk to the centre of town. 20min to the olympic standard and has excellent rooms. the rooms are big and spacious just like a hilton should be. the bed is very comfy and the bathroom is clean and tidy. . I recommend this stay as it was cheap at the time i went
Restored my beliefs in the Hilton brand”
The staff here need to be congratulated on the exceptional service that they provided. Samuel and the lady that was working with him at the time of check in could not have been more helpful. They were both wonderful. I was given a free upgrade which I was grateful for and I regardless of the upgrade, my review would have been the same due to the outstanding level of customer service. The hotel is in a great location and the room was clean and large.
Very good hotel, clean, comfortable, helpful staff”
good hotel but a bit off of city center. the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, they go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. the ambiance is a bit more outgoing and friendly than one often encounters in helsinki.
