Simple large and great for the money”
Pros- clean, enormous room, enormous balcony can fit 7 people or 5 extremely comfortably, great staff but lottle to no english wllingness to help, great restaurant, 7/11 20 metres away 45 seconds walk, super secure but will have trouble entering if security not there to open gate at night, a/c, fridge Cons- its abit old but you get what you pay for No doona had to adk for one, slept first night using a towel as cover, a bit far from sukhumvit road Overall great stay as i just landed and didnt need anything fancy to sleep off the jet lag for two days, but the size of room and balcony easy access to 7/11 and restaurant downstairs and some fancy coffe shop directly across about 10 metres away made it an overall hreat stay. Alot street food around less than 5 minutes walk
Spent 2 nights at the Himalaya residence (I was looking for a simple, inexpensive and conveniently-located room to spend the weekend in Bangkok), and I really appreciated how staff welcomed me as a family member more than a guest. I got plenty of support to organize my stay, took advantage of the huge room to do some yoga, and just regret I didn’t have a chance to try the restaurant, which looked really nice. To those interested, Simple., the cafe facing Himalaya residence, serves delicious food for lunch. Thanks again to all Himalaya team, and hope to come back some day.
True to its name the stay in this hotel was unique and rejuvenating to the mind and soul, I have rarely stayed in such a good home away from home. If you want to experience any of the above I have indicated this is the place to visit. This is a special hotel I will certainly come back without hesitation. It took me a while a find out the location of this hotel (took a 20 baht bike ride from a nearby train station) but you will not be disappointed with your stay.
The hotel is in a good location of Sukhumvit, but at the end of the ally. So getting any transport is bit hard. But other than that, the hotel itself is really nice for its interior and the rooms are really huge. Nepalese style interior and more likely to be at home.
WORST HOTEL EVER”
I had a horrible experience at this hotel. The rooms are old, everything needs to be refresh especially in the bathroom. I had the room 302 and the sink in the bathroom was leaking, the bathroom too, there was not hot water at all. There is no sheet provided, only fitted sheet, so I had to cover myself with a towel! The breakfast is a big joke if you can call 2 pieces of bread and jam, a breakfast. Also the second night, I decided to go out and when I came back at 00:30 (which is not late) there was no one at the entrance so I couldn't get it. I called the hotel, no one answered. I had to call the police because I had my flight at 6am so I had to leave around 3am. At 2am the guard FINALLY woke up. I will not recommend this hotel. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Peaceful Perfect Place to stay as your home”
I came here with my friend and stayed 3night. First of all, we could find easily this resisdence by Google maps. Second of all, all the workers in there were so nice to us. Last but not least, except that the distance from the station is kinda far to walk, this resisdence is that "Have to Go". hot water is available on 24hours, clean bed and lots of window. clean tower, safe locker, dress hangers, everything was in this place. Even the morning meal was great. hot riich beautiful smell coffee and butter on the toast, warm omulet with curry taste. fresh fruit, yogurt... etc.
Nothin' could be fina!”
Stop looking for anyplace else in Bangkok. The rooms are big and clean. The Himalayan food is the best in the region. The ONLY drawback is the walk to Sukhumvit, but for someone young and healthy, that is not at all a problem. For breakfast, the night before, ask for rice soup. It's not Thai "khaothom." It is a taste of heaven, as is everything on the regular menu. All praise to Assajita, the manager, for creating the perfect resting spot in a crazy city.
Budget and Staff Friendly Hotel”
If you're on a tight budget, then Himalaya Residence is the place for you. We stayed in the triple-sharing room but it had the basic amenities including a small refrigerator, water heater wifi access. It was clean and comfortable. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We booked almost all of our tours through them and they packed our complimentary breakfast because we had to leave early for the tours. During the last day of our stay, we checked out at 11:00am but they kept pur luggage on a safe place while we went shopping. When we came back for our luggage, they even let us take a shower in their office before heading to the airport even though we have already checked out!
Home away from home”
himalaya residence sits in a compound surrounded by condominiums. it's just a 2-story hostel with nepalese/tibetan decors. since i arrived late at night, the owner was gracious enough to welcome me. my room was big for a single occupant. the bed was comfy and the pillows were fluffy. the wooden floor was clean and shiny. the bathroom has running hot and cold shower. standard amenities were in the room, including a fridge with bottled water. there are only 7 channels on tv (2 local / nhk / lotus macau / german / french / asian news) but it's ok. i only get to watch tv when i get back from school and shopping. breakfast consists of 2 slices of toast, jam, butter, eggs and a choice of coffee or tea. try their masala tea ... it's totally different from the other teas that i have tasted. towels were provided and changed everyday. they have a very courteous staff. they will give you information on how and where to go and even tell you how much you are going to pay the motorcab drivers or taxi. the hostel is secure and the moment you enter it's facility, it's like you're home. it is warm and cozy. they have a ready smile when they see you coming. i would totally recommend this place to my friends and i will definitely come back to himalaya residence again and again :-)
Friendly, quiet location, large rooms but basic”
The atmosphere in the hotel restaurant is very nice, with all kinds of Nepalese furniture and decoration. The food is delicious! Though breakfast was disappointing. The rooms are very big (also good as family room) but basic.
A very nice experience Clean and well kept rooms”
It was a nice experience On arrival we were greated by friendly and helpfull staff. The room was pretty big with nice airy windows. The bed sheets and the linen was clean and seemed to be dry cleaned.
Awesome hotel love to visit again”
Hi all the experiece in himalya resedency was great , great staff, best food , rooms were very larg like a 4 star accomodation , internit facility was good , the main and the best part is the location and the resturant food is very nice .. little bit costly but worth it to pay ,, it would be the best stay for indians because hotel owner is nepali hindu, and the staff is also indian . and food maaa shah allaa was awesome .. i enjoyed my stay and in future will love to stay there again
Lovely hotel, friendly staff”
Friendly staff, with excellent English (from Nepal). Good room, comfortable bed. Close to Sukhumvit metro station and a Skytrain station. Nice breakfast. Only setback is that the hotel is quite hard to find, so best to arrive in daylight!
Good for the price”
this place is probably best for people who want a kind of a backpacker vibe in the sukhumvit area, but it's suitable for anyone on a budget. there's a distinct nepalese flavour to it. the breakfast was basic, but you can't expect more for the price. some people complain about the location, but it's not too bad if you check the location on the map. there are two entrances, but the easiest way is to go straight to the end of soi 31, right to the end without turning. veer to the left at the end and you'll see the gate.
Cozy and spacious room”
The room was vary spacious and cozy. The room has a bathtub, which was a big + for the price of the hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. I'd like to stay here again.
Nepal Tea House in Bangkok”
Reminds me of my home village in Nepal. Complete with no hot water, staff that don't know the difference between freezer and refrigerator, and buffalo dung mud floors are "clean enough". However, the Nepali food, especially the Momo's are great and authentic. Huge rooms and comfortable enough beds. No TV to speak of, but Internet fast. Everyone speaks Nepali so really like home.
The rooms are large, neat with good WIFI . ”
The hotel has large rooms, it is clean & neat. Good Wifi. Bathroom has bathtub but the stopper for the drain was broken. The Closet was broken. Hot water is not for 24 hrs, we need to tell room service man to switch on the Geyser. The switch was fixed outside the window, so the room service man has to climb through the window to switch the Geyser on. Breakfast was basic- bread, butter, jam & some fruits. If you need omelet you need to demand it. The hotel did not have reception. We need to go to restaurant to seek help from the staff . Nobody speaks English expect two person, one young girl and another person who was called "Uncle". Both are not available all the time. Uncle was rude in his communication but initially he was polite. I wonder why? There is no Airport drop or pick up given by the Hotel, they do even help you to get a Taxi to go to the Airport. They told me this is against their policy of getting their guest a Taxi to the Airport. Location it is far from the Metro station. Please DO NOT STAY in this Hotel. Pay more and get better service. As saying goes “If you pay peanuts you get monkeys”.
Nightmare, do NOT go there ! worst customer servic”
Do not go there.... room dirty, door to bathroom half ripped off, staff could not speak 1 word of english. 1st night we went out and came back around 10pm, gate closed...had to scream for security guard to wake up and open.2nd night, gate closed again, but this time even screaming would do nothing... we had to jump a 8 feet fence to get in, tripped and injured myself. Fiance was so nervous she ended up being sick in bed. Following day, we were told we had to pay for bed sheets, that they throwed them in garbage. Owner's brother(spoke English)was very condescendant... then he apologized for inconvenience. I refused to pay for bed sheet. He later told me that they washed them (curious, thought they were in garbage: they were always lying...). We had a coffee in the morning, then noticed all black spots floating: about 20 ants... asked to change it, employee who could not understand anything brought us a tea, or what they called a tea(awful taste of rotten milk). Breakfast was included: if a piece of bread along with marmalade is a breakfast, well it was included. Worst of all: we never mentioned anything about the bathroom door, but one day, after coming from a long walk, surprise: 3 men into the room, including the owner's brother sitting on our bed. They where changing the door, cutting into the room(dust all over the place), without even asking us for any kind of permission. When I mentioned that this was totally unacceptable because it was our privacy, had again a condescendant WE ARE SORRY. Well everyone....NEVER GO THERE!!!!
Unusual Experience, but agreeable”
The location is fantastic, close to many amazing restaurants including บ้านอีสานเมืองยศ. Seriously, you need to be in before 6pm to get a table and the meals are awesome, surprisingly affordable, and like Thai Food. Also close to the large Emporium shopping mall, if that is your thing and you have an unlimited shopping budget.
