Located in the heart of the citys shopping and entertainment area the hotel is just a short drive away from the airport. The Hippodrome Hotel is situated heart of the old city centre and is conveniently close to the many of the areas major tourist attractions. The hotel provides a buffet breakfast and there is also an excellent in-house restaurant which serves the best in local cuisine in a comfortable environment. The hotel is popular with local guests thanks to the friendly staff and interesting local architecture that can be easily reached on foot from the hotels main entrance.
"Night staff highly cooperative."

Very simple rooms, excellent location, good breakfast, nothing fancy”
Helpful staff. Excellent location. Good breakfast Room... Not great. But ok, if you only want a place to sleep in. Bathrooms also basic.
Amazing location, very helpful staff”
Stayed here for 4 nights. Walking distance to Hagya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and overlooking the Bosphorous Strait. It is also near the tram and Arasta Bazar. Love Hippodrome. Very helpful in assisting you to good restaurants and places of interests.
Stayed 4 Nights. Night staff highly cooperative. Breakfast was next building but excellent. Rooms little compact, fixtures and fitting inside the room were little dissappointment but overall good. 10min walk to Sultanahmet Tram station.
Excellent Time. Great Staff. Will be back”
Hotel location is realy good as you can walk every where nearby in 10 minutes walk with all important tourist places to visit in istanbul. Food in different restaurants which are nearby is realy good but a a abit expensive. Hotel service overall is really good and staff will always greet you with smile. All in all its a good place to stay. Enjoy your trip
Awesome base to explore Istanbul”
We had a lovely time at Hippodrome Hotel. It's situated in Sultanahmet, near the 4 must visit places in Istanbul - Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, as well as conveniently located near the tram station. At night it does get noisy from the restaurant next door, and also, on the last day of our stay, the electricity in our room couldnt be switched on. They offered to change rooms within the hour, but then we were leaving already to catch our flight. Overall comfortable stay.
Comfortable & Friendly Staff”
It was a wonderful stay with warm welcome from the staff, very helpful & friendly. A walking distance to historical places like Ayya Sofiyya, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, etc. Very near to shopping area & dining. Would love to come again.
Had a suite that shared with adult children in a separate area closed off by a sliding door, for almost the same price as a regular hotel room! Was on the top floor of another building nearby, partial views of the water on outside balcony and window view of the Blue mosque, but climbing 3 flights of stairs every time came back from walking after a long, hot day was tough. The hotel was a bit dated, but rooms were clean, air-conditioned and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was in a third building which offered great views and nice but average food. Best place for staying with a family for a great price.
Good location, friendly & helpful staff, cosy room”
Great. The hotel is at the bottom of the hill in Sultanahmet, quiet and convenient, but also within walking distance to Blue Mosque and Hagia sophia etc. the room is cosy but comfortable enough for our stay. The staff are very helpful, giving us suggestions for our on going tour but not hard selling. Breakfast is on a rooftop restaurant and it is great!
Nice city hotel in top-notch location”
As far as location is concerned, it doesn´t get much better than this. Hippodrome Hotel is located in quiet downhill road only minutes on foot away from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Little Aya Sofia and the Basilica Cistern. The rooms on the top floor have access to a terrace with views to the Sea of Marmara and an unobstructed view to the Blue Mosque. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is good, and served in a top floor restaurant down the street, again with superb views. Good access to public transport.
We had 4 nights at the Hippodrome Hotel, staying in their Azade hotel at the end of the road. Great roof terrace for breakfast, which was a good Turkish breakfast with average coffee. Room was clean and spacious for three of us, with AC and ensuite WC and shower. Staff were helpful and the best bit, the location! Situated in the old part of Istanbul, right next to the Blue Mosque. With the Sultan Ahmet tram stop on the other side of the mosque, getting around Istanbul was easy using the Metro and Trams.
Rooms were so small.”
Hotel is very close to all of tbe historical places, 3 min walk from blue mosque and hagia sofia museum. Breakfast was also awesome. The only issue was the room size, rooms are too much small. Not as mentioned at the agoda. I booked room of 20m² but actually it was 10m². Same is rooms are at much cheaper rates than hippodrome.
It is okay. Clean and simple room.”
As other people's reviews are too good, I expected an excellent room. It is, in fact, a simple, minimum and clean room, which is totally comfortable, especially you are out for sightseeing almost all day. It is just too high expectation due to excellent reviews. Breakfast is served at a hotel nearby. You can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean at breakfast.
Considering we will be back on the week after for 2nd round of stay at the same property, we left our lonely planet books and some food behind. when we came back a week later, our books were totally soaked for days and wet. We spoke to the night staffs on saturday night on 1 July 2017, One man got very defensive, saying that we wet those ourselves. My books are still wet now and the worst part is that I loaned those books from Library. If it's my books, i don't care if they are damage, cause the trip is over, i don't need those books any more, but they aren't mine. on top of that, on the second round of stay, we paid for a higher price and they put us at Azade hotel at room 306, and the room has a long staircase down and two more flights up on stairs on the next staircase, we were dragging our heavy luggage and the room is tiny. we had 1.5 feet space from our bed to walls, tiny as hell, plus the wifi didn't work on our room, we had to get to the bedroom door to receive some minor signal. the breakfast, tomatoes were rotten on our first day of 2nd stay. and some cheese were a bit off too. Will we stay again? NO WAY, nor will I recommend anyone to stay here.
Not what you seen in the photo”
We stayed 2 rounds in this property. First round, it was at the Hippodrome Hotel. The door lock was spoilt. Considering we will be back on the week after for 2nd round of stay at eh same property, we left our lonely planet books and some food behind. when we came back a week later, our books were totally soaked for days and wet. Rooms were comfortable and clean though compact. Would have preferred them to be more spacious and roomy even though we booked a triple. Location was excellent, walking distance from plenty eateries and main attractions (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofya, Bascilla Cistern and Grand Bazaar). Staff was very cordial especially Mehmud. Hippodrome will certainly be a choice keeping in mind the convenient location in Sultanahmet.
A great location. Always friendly staff and helpful. Perhaps I would have liked a bit more information about the tourist services they provided at my time of booking so I could have had better informed local choices as a foreign visitor.
Perfect location, just what you need for a base”
We stayed here for a couple nights while looking around Istanbul for the first time. It's hard to imagine a more perfect location. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room a bit small (but who's going to sit in their room all day when you're in the middle of the old city of Istanbul!), though it was clean and cozy with everything we needed. The breakfast is down the street a short walk on the roof of a neighboring hotel that has a stunning view of the blue mosque, the Golden Horn, and the mouth of the Bosphorus. Awesome location. Lots of great restaurants within a few steps of the front door. And in five minutes you can stroll up to where you're standing between the Blue Mosque and the Aya Syofia. Also, it's easy to get airport buses to pick you up right in front of the door. Perfect!
Good location friendly staffs”
Its not a 4 stars hotel, just 2 stars. Fo not trust 100% the pictures advertised. All pictures appears in agoda are far different from what you see. But its a good budget hotel, very near to sultan ahmed center, quite and calm.
Staff assistance made our trip easy & comfortable”
It was wonderful stay in this hotel. We reserve two rooms and asked to be close to each others. We have got two rooms with doors opposite to each others. Good reception when arrived to the hotel. Rooms are comfortable but one is more spacious than the other one. Staff are friendly especially Mr. Caner who has a very pleasant personality and always offer his assistance and useful information to Hotel's guests. Staying in this hotel for us is another reason to revisit Istanbul in addition to Istanbul itself which it is a great and beautiful place to always visit.
Great location ”
My stay was great with Hippodrome. My room was clean, shower water was very strong, it's location saved us a lot of travel. However, their stuff's English is poor but friendly, and outside of my room's hallway has many huge flies.
