    General Overview”
I have stayed here about 8 x over last 4 years. It's very close to Laos border bridge. Staff let's me leave car parked while I'm across border. Nice and clean pool. Pleasant balcony. Good sized room w A/C. -- Kitchen is ONLY OPEN FOR BREAKFAST (this has changed over years).. If group there, a full buffet. If not, a simple set [includes an American set]. Outside, there is no restaurant or food stands in walking distance [I was car-less on this visit]. Recommended!!

I loved it so much! Great breakfast, amenities, rooms, and staff. They helped me so much with getting transportation. Unfortunately it didn't appear to be close to many/any food places to grab a bite to eat, and its location doesn't seem as central which is why transportation is harder to stumble upon being that it's a town run by tuk tuk and not taxis that are just a phone call away. But I still really liked it.

    Pleasant Guest House ”
Friendly staff, good facilities ! We will recommend to others, lovely place to stay and relax for a few days. Nong Khai has a great promenade for walking or cycling, easy to access from the guest house. We had a great time in Nong Khai, absolute bliss !

    Good hotel for border crossing”
I picked this hotel because it was close to the border crossing with Loas. I turned up at the hotel quite early and was greeted by a very pleasant lady at the reception. When she found out I was going to the border the next day she stranded a tut tut to take me to the border and informed me of some interesting places that were worth a visit in Loas. The only down side of the hotel were the showers which were barely warm. I was made to feel very welcome at this hotel and overall I would recommend it.

    Value for money
We stayed here for four nights in the large family room , the staff were very helpfull and the room was very good value for money , facilities were good but the hotel is out of Nong khai closer to the friendship bridge so your own transport is essential. Hotel condition and cleanliness was super! We enjoyed the meals and our time at Hirun grand hotel very much.

    Local place”
This is definitely more a 'local' place - if you don't mind noisy neighbours, strangely placed toilet roll holders and stairs (no lifts) - then this is the place for you. It's certainly not a 3* as per advertised. The food was ok - surprisingly so - but once again the bathrooms were a real letdown! The beds were hard and the walls were thin. Thankfully the air cons worked as did the WiFi which was a bit slow. The hotel is REALLY near the Thai-Lao Friendship bridge...in fact I thought that was where we were headed on Google Maps. So if you want to be closer to town then this isn't the place for you. Would I stay again...no. Not because it was terrible...but there must be better places...

A bit too far from town...”
This large, clean, well appointed hotel was run by people who spoke no English so had difficulty being helpful. The management seemed to do little. The wonderful clerks and cleaning people did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. The restaurant had great food! The pool was nice but actually too cold to enjoy. The hotel was just too far from anything unless one hired a motorcycle and they only rented bikes.

    Nothing is really good.
This is a hotel meant for cheap tour transit to Vientiane. Way out of town.located in a village of the main Road. "Simple eggs is a norm for breakfast. It was not avaliable." All Dishes consist of rice, porridge and vegetables, fruits. I use my own burgette and coffee i bought from Vientiane and for breakfast. Disgusting breakfast spread, unbelievable. Breakfast around pool area, plenty Mozzies.

Wish i had the time to stay longer.”
wonderful swimmingpool, lovely garden(furniure) and the decoration.
The Thai immigration officer pointed in the direction of the Hilun Gland Hotel: go back. It is situated beside the Frienship Bridge, could see the trafic between the trees but hardley hear it. Most hotel are situated in this area, certainly those with a swimming pool. Tuk - Tuk 100 to 150 bath for a trip to town or Lotus-Tesco. Arrived without a paper voucher and smartphone out of power. No problem, passport is all they need, good one Agoda. Staff comming from combodia(living and food free)heared about this a lot maybe after the raised thai minimum wage. And children are taken to school in the morning. After reading all the previous revieuws: everybody is right. The very friendly smilling staff could be thought about Thai food, it needs some improvment (my wife is from Lao but also worked as a cook in Thailand). Breakfast: toast fried eggs and some french fries as a garnish. There was jam and we were offerd some sausage. Enjoying this on the furniture made from old big trees was a feast to the eyes and comfortabal. Counting the birds building or restoring nests. Taking a shower before a early evening swim I see a family of chickens sleeping on a treebranche. Meeting with a small lyzzard, heating up beside the pool,on my morning swimm. This hotel can over you a mini experience for a few bath. I loved it. I almost forgot walk 200 meters and under the bridge you finf some thai foodstalls. Definetly would like to stay here again.

Loved the gardens, pool and architecture.”
Amazing architecture combines Asian styles. Spacious verandas, lusciously green garden with beautiful wooden furniture, great swimming pool.
Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the pool, the garden with strategically placed wooden furniture to ensure privacy. Was amazed by the decorative style of the buildings. Noted that some families with children stayed there, did not spot any backpackers. The manageress has excellent English, the reception staff called a very reasonably priced taxi to take us shopping, sight seeing and to the train station. A great find at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Comfortable rooms for the price efficient high speed internet nice clean outdoor pool
My stay was comforatble with the staff great and the pool cool in the hot weather - I read some other comments posted earlier on the site about mosquitos in the room , took the aerogarde but never opened it as did not have an issue. I was there for business so the internet was good quality, restaurants 5 minutes via Tuk Tuk and large Tesco Lotus complex 10 mins and Nong Khai market same. Its only 5 Mins to Friendship bridge to Vientiane so very handy Rooms were cleaned by 4 laughing girls who did a good job and my room was cleaned on time. All staff seemed happy to work there and to assist which is sometimes not the case in this part of the world. All in all, I would stay there again but probably not on the third floor next time with no lift.

    Cheap and clean
The ground floor rooms face onto car park and so our designated room wasn't very suitable, we moved to a third floor room, the only one available was a 6 bedded Indian PALACE!. The Hotel is very Indian styled, very colorful and very clean. The staff are very helpful, always running to assist, breakfast and meals are served in the courtyard when dry and on the balconies when wet. You will need a car to get to the River where the markets and restaurants are located.
