hostel located in heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, you can walk only 1-2 min to MTR, and also many flagship store of vary well known brand, Jeff who is a staff was very helpful and friendly. Only 1 disappoint thing is Hot water for shower will open from 09.00-12.00 and 21.00-01.00 the rest time you have to be freeze with cold water while shower, NOTE : you need to provide CASH to pay upon arrival, they don't accept any credit card. and they will collect you $HK 100 for key deposit in each key

NO TOWELS. MADE US PAY MORE. DIRTY PLACE. ”
DOWNSIDE: I personally booked this room months ago before our stay, informed them of a late check-in, but never got an email if should we have extra payments for it . They made us pay HK$250 more, because the guy in the reception said our original booking was at the Block D and it’s dangerous for us to stay there. Like IDK why?!? So no arguments discussed coz we just really want to rest since it’s already 3AM that we arrived and we’ve had a long trip. When we saw the rooms, it was completely different from the ones we booked! We got 1 queen sized bed and double-deck beds. and it’s a very tiny room o difficult for 3 people, the area is just so dirty and so many cockroaches running around. POSITIVE: Since HK Downtown Backpackers is located at Block A of Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui it’s very easy to commute and take a stroll around. Avenue of Stars, Star Ferry and all other activities you wish to go is very accessible since Tsim Sha Tsui’s station is just right across the street.

Clean, good price, but corrupt and bad "manager"”
Clean, one of the best price performance in HK, central location, but corrupt and bad "manager", be carefully, he want to charge you extra, so bad and unfriendly person. In the beginning, when we met him the first time, he said he is a hotel guest also, one day later he told us, he is now the security man, but he act as a manager/owner. Sometimes he throw people and their things out of the room. The police will do nothing.

It was satisfying...though we were quite disturbed with so many stores and people at the lobby. This is a good place to stay when u visit HK. Very near to ocean park and museums and avenue of stars. Subways are just few steps away. I will recommend this place for sure.

Unfriendly Hotel Owner When I booked the room at only HK $ 1,681, when I arrived at the hotel he asked me to pay HK $ 1,850 and added 600 HK for private bathroom use. strange room too small room like a slum house old bed sheet no ventilated bathroom we did not know this before on agoda and different reality experience I did not have a great impression on the hotel

Good for budget travellers”
Our stay was good. The hotel is cheap considering we were they for backpacking.The room is small. We chose the room together with toilet. Flat screen TV with lots of Chinese channels. The staff were very helpful and can speak English very well. On the ground floor,you will need to pass through lots of foreign salesman trying to sell too many things. Just politely say no and you'll be good. Towel and toiletries will be charged separately.So do bring yours. For Muslims, there are lots of Halal food restaurants and kiosk in this Chungking Mansion. Please check for cleanliness as some are quite dirty.

The room is clean, the staff had been accommodating and near tourist spots Please expect 15% more on top of the indicated room rate. If you have come earlier than 2pm, expect that staff wont allow you to check-in or head to your room BUT they will eventually haggle for undocumented hkd100 to let you checkin immediately

this hotel is nice but is small for two people and the reception very far from the actual room still need to go to another byilding and almist got lost with all the market downstairs. if only i was to relax i will not stay but since it is only for sleep then will do.

This is not an incredibly nice place, but it's definitely excellent value. It's clean, the staff was super nice to me (but I spoke with them in Chinese, which I think helped a bit), and it's as central as you'll find. I will stay again.

Defective aircon, reception starts at 9AM, only towels provided (no toiletries). Well, for the price, the location is superb. Only for backpackers that's are cheapskate.

Cheap dormitory hotel in TST area. ”
Before I booked inside dormitory but than mive to single room, only stayed one night, dormitory really too crowded and narrow room, air condition only opene night time, so quite unconfortable.

Pros 1. Very cheap. 2. Polite staff. 3. Located at 3/F. No need to line up for long waiting lift. Cons 1. Counter staff only manage check in and check out. Won’t entertain any complaints. 2. A lot of impolite guests. Often disturbed by loud chatting or quarrels. 3. Tiny space between bed and toilet. Need to “climb”. 4. Light weight bed. Easily moves. 5. No clean towel changed even stay 10 nights. 6. Staff won’t take initiative to return your deposit if you forget.

Agoda, you should review your hotel listings. This hotel scam us. There were no nice room on their hotel. Very dirty, Smell so bad, WORST HOTEL EVER!!!! They charged us $1,200 for 2 nights for a very small room. Bathroom has no door. All staffs are arrogant. Our travel to Hong kong sucks because of this lousy hotel.

I booked this Hostel as i got amazed with the pictures provided as it shows amazingly beautiful and clean. I used our savings acct as means of payment. So i got my confirmation that i already reserved the room confirming the amount i need to pay once i arrived in the Hostel, which bothered me since they did not auto deducted on our savings acct. So the day we arrived on the location we pay the full amount in cash. Yet to our dismay they deducted the same amount to our savings acct the next day we stayed which is a total bullshit!!! For what reason? Which is unclear!! And the room is so disappointing it is expectation vs reality thing...posting a very beautiful room and images is totally the opposite when you see the room. Right now, we are still in the process of recovering the amount they deducted to our savings acct and it will take 40 business days..which is a shitty thing!!!!

The night before our check out, I informed the receptionist that we will be checking out by 7:30 am. He told me that's fine and we will be getting the 100HKD security deposit before we checked out. The following day, we checked out at exactly 7:30am but no one was there. We waited for almost 30mins but still no staff or receptionist. What we did was we left the key card by the window and did a 👍🏻 sign infront of the CCTV. I thought that the staff changes from their shift because it was a 24hr hostel and the staff i told that night didn't probably endorse it to the next shift. Please be mindful of these things next time.

Dont be fooled”
The picture in the website is totally different from the actual room. I am very unhappy when I saw the room. The location of the hotel is kinda creepy. We dont have a choice but to stay here because the wheather when we arrived is not good. The inly pros I have for this is that the staff is very accomodating the chungkim mansion is located in a very convinient place where there are so many cheap stores and restaurant.
