THEIR BEACH IS NOT ADVISABLE TO SWIM. FOOD IS A BIT PRICY. STAFF IS OK.
we had a great time, our visitors from Manila really enjoyed their stay, us too who are Davao locals. let me break it down: cleanliness: the room is spotless clean. the beach area shows good maintenance, however the pool needs a lil attention. services: 101% great! the butlers are polite and awesome! comfort: we had a great sleep. airconditiong worked fine. our food were served wherever we want 🙂 location : peaceful and quiet. a lil steep and we had to climb a few steps to get to our rooms but we didn't mind the exercise 😘 food : delicious and nice plating, a lil pricey but hey as I mentioned they will serve it no metter where you want.
A more private option for a resort”
It helped that we checked in on a weekday, because the place wasn’t crowded or noisy. We had some quality alone time so I’m very happy about that. We enjoyed our beach bumming, just watching the waves and talking. We didn’t get to swim on the beach since it was low tide but we got some exercise in the pool. Super nice. We also loved all the animals just strolling around the property. The turkeys, ducks and geese were the main source of noise there. Haha The main issue we had is that they have no potable water. When we asked for some service water, our butler said they don’t recommend their local water to their guests, since they may not be used to the water and get upset stomach. If you have been to El Nido, Palawan, this is the same case. You will need to buy bottled water 500ml for 50pesos. So I’d suggest bringing plenty of drinking water if you plan to stay here awhile. The food was also super expensive. The prices of the activities and the food are not for those on a budget. So maybe also bring some food or snacks? No corkage fee. They have scheduled free boat transfer to and from Sta. Ana Pier. Their schedule is a bit strict so make sure to plan your stay ahead. Some improvements can be suggested but overall, our stay was great and relaxing.
the place has its own boat transfer. you definitely don't need to worry about finding a ride when you reach the shore. staff were all accommodating specially ismael who took care of our needs (e.g advil). you'll love view specially if you'd dine along the shore. food is pricey but presentation and taste is yummy! i suggest you bring in some snacks and bottled water and your own toothbrush. to add the awesome exp we got a free room upgrade! such a neat deal.. it was bec they reserved a queen size bed instead of a twin bed. so lucky! will surely recommend and go back!
Very ugly resort ”
Sayang ang pera at walang kwentang resort na ito. Hndi maganda . Sa picture lang maganda pero sa personal grabe! Subra lagi low tide ang dagat hndi ka makaligo at subrang daming lumot!ung resort na tinotulogan ang init! Worst experience ever!
Peaceful, Great Service & Food”
Cozy, relaxing place, very private. Especially liked the quality of food. Staff is friendly, polite and good service.
They were very courteous at extending our date of arrival from the original due to storm. The gave us a free upgrade as wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, a beach front cabana which also made our stay hassle free because we had our 2 children with us. The room was spacious, clean with all needed amenities and/or if need be you can ask your personal Butler for help. Ours was Lang Lang. Very cheerful girl who made friends with the children very quickly and ran all our errands. It's one of the unique styles of this resort. Instead of dialing housekeeping or room service, you ring a hand bell to call your Butler or butlerette to help you with your needs. Resorts manager was always there for help and guidance and we also had the honor of meeting and sitting down for a nice chat with the resort's owner. Free boat shuttle back and forth between Sta. Ana port and resort included with breakfast and welcome reception upon arrival, it was all so perfect.
The main disappointment is the construction mess in plain view of the beach front cabanas. We suggest some kind of separation material, like banana leaves or something. The food was delicious. Beach front lovely, sunset lovely. staff friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Stayed there for 2 nights with another 2 friends. Our personal butcher is very good at her job. This resort provide a free boat from mainland which you can save a lot on your transportation. It's just that the boat schedule is limited so we missed the boat during our arrival, so we managed to get there on our own with complete information how to get there from the resort as well. Our island hopping & waterfall activities also we bought a package from this resort which I found quite reasonable and not so expensive. For the activities, we can enjoy the tour privately just for our group. Recommended to my friends if anyone want to go there!
Great resort, quiet and peaceful”
Get a free upgrade so i could stay on the beach front and dont have to climb all the way to the hill top. Staff are friendly and helpful, they can provide everything for you, just ask. Will definitely go back one day
Superb and Wonderful!”
Samal Island is beautiful as an island...but staying at Hof Gorei made it a paradise to live in! Beach at the front with the pool option in the nature area! This place is perfect for honeymooners very well. Will definitely go back!
Customize your stay, ask servant”
Servant stay with you, your group. She/ he assist to customize your comfortable stay. Where to eat, what to eat, even find to you comfortable shadow for reading, arrange optional trip to island. She organized table on the beach. I enjoyed beautiful view and table settings with delicious meals, dinner and breakfast. Bungalow is very quiet, not so bright light in the room, simple amenities which I’m ok with, because I have my own. It was so relaxing. I stayed other two hotels before here, I regretted not to chose here for 5 nights stay! Also this place prefers from Davao to here to take their private boat, because difficult to be there by motorcycle or car a crossing Samal Island.
Customer service at its finest! I missed the last trip to get to the island but they still allowed me to get on their chartered trip. I had to wait a bit though but that's not their fault. The only thing that irked me was that there was no exact place as to where the boat would dock so had to walk back and forth, I am five months pregnant and was travelling with a three-year old so that was a bit stressful. Still, I appreciate that they picked us up. I love the personal butler so didn't have to deal with anyone else during my stay. Relaxing, quiet beach.
Not worth it!!!”
Not recommended for families with children because you have to climb all the way to the hill top. There are lots of resorts in Samal island that is better and cheaper.
Five stars across the board!”
Our families really enjoyed the accommodation, facilities, activities and food at Hof Gorei Beach Resort. The traditional Filipino food was excellent both in variety and deliciousness. The beach is outstanding and having meals served on the beach under a canopy of palms was memorable. I will really treasure my Hof Gorei memories.
Place to be! ”
Stayed 5 days in HOF Gorei with family. I like the place, the staff/butler, the white sand of the beach, pool and the peacefulness of our whole stay. A perfect place just to relax and be away from the city for a while. Foods are also fresh and delicious although to some it may be pricey. Try the Pinakbet, that is what our family loved to order. Also if you’re a naturalist, this is a place for you. 🦎🏝🌴🌱🌊🌳
The place is amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely refer this to our friends/families.
A hidden gem”
Pros: 1) The beachfront bungalow is spacious and very private. 2)Shoreline's sand is white and powdery and best to swim in the mornings. 3) Food is superb. 4) Service is impeccable, always quick to respond, all staffs are easy to talk to and honest. 5) Always a coast guard present for safety. 6) Pets are allowed. If you love nature this place will not disappoint. They have different animals in the resort that are well-taken care of. 7) Island hopping service of the resort is very good. Cons: 1) Transfer came a little later than expected. 2) They can do better on their basic toiletries by adding toothpaste, toothbrush, conditioner. *All in all, we loved our stay here. YES, WE WILL COME BACK.
A FIVE STAR RESORT ”
One of the best resorts ever stayed. Stayed in a bungalow facing the sea. Personal butler “Russel” was really awesome. Taken care of all our needs. Food was very good. Thanks to the great chef. Island hopping was another feather in the hat. I was surprised to see a clean white table with a table liner in the middle of the island hopping trip for lunch. It’s really fantastic. We were treated like a KING in the trip. I can keep writing more & more but one has to experience the real FIVE star treatment at a fraction of the cost. Would love to visit again!!!
Sad to leave... so we extended ”
We were hesitant given some of the reviews, but decided to book the bungalow for three nights. We were overwhelmed with the service provided by Teteng our butler. The food was exceptional and the animals (birds, ducks, geese, and chickens) on the property give the Hof Gorei a unique style that compliments its lush surroundings. The pool is well shade and on a steep section of the resort. Totally serene and tranquil. Low or high tide swimming at the beach is a delight. Sunsets at the end of the pier- come and see for yourself you will be captivated by the anchored boats and the mountain range on the horizon.
