Great for girl's weekend”
Lots of local bars and restaurants all within a block behind the hotel! Clean and safe area, didn't notice any homeless in the block surrounding the hotel. $40 self park or free street parking from 6pm-9am worked out very nicely for us! We had a car, but were out all day and went to left before we needed to feed the meter. Stayed 2 nights with 3 girls in a king room. Rooms were very spacious by San Francisco standards, even enough space for a rollaway! Only complaint was that the bathroom had no fan or ventilation so it made it hard for the next person to get ready after someone showered!
Value for money and good location!”
For San Francisco price, this hotel is value for money for me. Late checkout fee was not too pricey too! The location was good too as hop on hop off buses picks tourists here in the morning. Room and hotel was clean and well maintained. Quiet also for a good night sleep since we are on a high floor, and view was great too. Walking distance to the city center too. Will highly consider staying again in my next visit to SFO.
Excellent”
The staff is incredibly friendly! The rooms are decent, your basic hotel room. Parking is $40 plus tax overnight, but apparently you have to pay to park anywhere in San Francisco! The pool is heated, and goes from 3.5 feet to a whopping 8 feet deep! I really appreciate that they have a line of blue tiles to indicate where it starts getting deep (super helpful for my 4 year old who’s just learning to swim!). There is NO free breakfast, but you can get the breakfast buffet for $17. A lady at the front desk said kids under 12 eat free, but we opted to walk to a local place for breakfast, then use some gift cards at the Starbucks a block away. We will definitely stay here again!
Great clean hotel in best location”
I really liked the hotel. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. I had an amazing view from my room over san francisco. The room was very clean and I would go back to that hotel.
great location but old hotel”
nice hotel very convenient to go anywhere in major places in san francisco.
best services”
It is comfortable environment. If I went to San Francisco again, I would like to book this hotel.
Very nice Hotel, great location….”
We were in San Fran for 9 days, stayed at the Golden Gate Holiday Inn on Van Ness. It was a lovely hotel.Great service! Flat screen TV. Free in-room wifi. Good beds, linens, furniture, a/c etc. It was nice to have the BART bus stops near the hotel and also the cable cars were only a block away if that. Made getting around town very easy. All in all it was a great selection and a great value. We will book it again no doubt.
Excellent”
Lovely clean room with large window overlooking San Fran so we had lots of natural daylight which was wonderful. Good coffee machine in room and buffet breakfast in Hotel Restaurant were great (We originally thought $20 per head was pricy but this turned out to be good value once you factor in the fruit and pastries we took with us for lunch). Staff polite and efficient.
lovely hotel, polite and clean”
we enjoyed our stay at the holiday inn golden gateway very much, polite staff, clean room, everything we needed. the hotel is on the block where the famous tram line runs so thats great.
Old and lacking amenities ”
The location is great if you are seeing a show at the Regency Ballroom just a few blocks away, however, this is just a basic hotel with borderline outdated furniture and a bit noisy from the street below. Bring your earplugs. Parking is expensive, but what isn't in San Francisco?
to see the city is very good located Hotel”
The Hotel is Ok for San Francisco very good BUS Connection and also cable Car, the price is little bit high for this Hotel we book this hotel also with Shuttle transfer to airport the is shuttle Bus but cost extra 28USD,the breakfast with 17USD extra also!
Great Value”
This was our second city for our USA honeymoon trip. It is a lovely city, and I love the Golden State Warriors. The hotel was quite close to everything (resturants, groccery shopping, transport, gas station). Not all staff at the front desk are nice (especially the eldly Asian lady at the front desk, she was horrible). It was our honeymoon trip, so the hotel actually gave us a huge room. However, it was so close to the elevator that you couldn't sleep at all at night time. The next day we ask for a quiter room, it was done within seconds (EXCELLENT SERVICE MANAGER). On the second last day of the stay "Ru Paster" the front office manager actually gave us complimentary platter with champgne as part of saying thanks for choosing them as part of our honeymoon. I got to say, the only hotel that actually did something for our 33 days USA honeymoon trip!! EXCELLENT again... The only cons side of this hotel is most of the front counter staff are the wrost one out of all the hotels that I stayed.
Modern and good location”
It is a good experience and much better than the Holiday Inn in Fisherman's Wharf
The best city view from my room in SF”
I asked for the best room view, I got it and it’s amazing to have SF downtown night and day from my window! Love the higher floor in this hotel. The twin beds are very comfortable too... I would come back!
Nice Hotel, Big Room, Near Downtown Center and many shops and restaurants”
The hotel is very nice. The room is very clean and big. Near Downtown, and Fishermanwharp. So many restaurants and shops around hotels. Definitely will come back.
Good hotel, location and price”
The hotel was a good find - good price at a good location, and the facilities were generally of a good standard. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom, and the housekeeping was also good and efficient. The front desk staff was always helpful and friendly, and the fitness facilities were also ok, but the fitness room and equipment could have been bigger and more numerous for a hotel this size. My one gripe was the cost of the food at the hotel, and also the temperature of the 'heated' pool - it was heated to 73F, which, on a cold December day, means that you do not want to enter the pool at all!
Basic amenities met; service could've been better”
Stayed here for two nights. Room met our basic needs. Not too far from the main activities at Temple and Market streets (need to catch a cab ride though). Coffee/tea facilities, tv channels, etc. Stay away from the seedy Tenderloins district though. It's a rough neighbourhood. You wouldn't want to be walking there aimlessly past 7pm. Still, for the price that you pay, golden gate is ok. Nothing fantastic but nothing too oscenely wrng with it either...although I must commend the housekeeping; they were fast. The biz centre also provides the printng of air tics services foc.
Golden Gate Holiday Inn”
The hotel is right next to the cable car(California cable car line), and there are several bus stops nearby. In fact, SF has an amazing bus transportation, and there was never a need to take a cab. The hotel is clean, and you get get a $14 van service to and from the hotel (Go Lorries). Overall, we had a very good experience at the hotel. The only thing we would complain about is its really slow wireless internet...
Excellent location and value for money”
Excellent location in Vann Ness street, 10 mins from Union Square and 20 mins from Fiherman’s wharf. You are by the famous California street and just a couple of blocks away from Bob’s Donuts. The view from the room was awesome. The bar and restaurant are decent for the prices charged. Recommended
Clean, comfortable hotel”
We had a comfortable stay with city views on the 19th floor. twin double beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and well serviced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was Buffet and typical of most hotels, nothing special here, but quite nice and sufficient with a limited variety of hot food choices, Scrambled eggs, bacon, potato & sausages were the same for the 3 mornings that we stayed. Room service charged us $14.70 for bringing tea to the room as they only had a coffee machine, however tea was Lipton tea bags & hot water. Internet is $10.95 a day & even though there is "Guest Lobby" WiFi... it does not work. The Hilton Hotel Union Square has free WiFi in the foyer as do all Starbucks, Hotels need to come on board with this. The best part of the stay was the Concierge in the Gift Shop. These people were helpful, knowledgeable about all of Frisco & great rates for shuttles to & from the Airport. Hotel is in a good position uptown near Nob Hill & Russian Hill, some fun places for bars & shopping on Polk.. hope we helped
