Friendliest owner, lovely home stay”
Honolulu homestay is a great place to stay in fort Cochin. The location is great - within walking distance of the main attractions and local restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, with hot showers in the bathroom also. Clean bedding and towels are provided. The communal areas are very nice, with a TV that the owner let us use to watch the cricket. We had a western-style breakfast one morning which was very nice, and they also have a stock of chilled bottled water for a good price. In terms of value for money, it is possibly a bit more expensive than elsewhere. The wifi is good quality - although it is annoying that they turn it off sometimes but switch it on again if you ask - maybe this is to save money? There is a power backup if the mains electricity in Cochin fails, which is important as this occurred a few times when we stayed. The main reason, however, that we highly recommend Honolulu is the staff; the owner, Mr Aboo is the nicest man and so helpful for planning onward travel in India. He is assisted by Taris, who is equally nice and interesting to speak to. Both have seen a lot of the world so know exactly what information tourists need and have deep knowledge of travel in southern India and a range of contacts to organise tours, events, trains, busses etc.. This is very useful if you are not from the area. Honolulu Homestay comes highly recommended!

hard to leave”
thank you to a fine host and now a friend. he made us feel at home from day one and we were greeted by a friendly young man that arranged so much for us in the five days we were privileged to be in fort kochi. his home is clean, neat and extremely well located..he arranged a trip for us to aleppey on the back water and to munnar in the mountains. we also went to a performance of the katahali. wow it was just super fun for the five of us. i can highly recommend a stay here, look no further. really enjoyed the homestay in kochi. once again he is a terrific host and cannot be more helpful or easy going. met two terrific young travellers from australia just beginning their travels and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying at the green house, chatting in the evenings and finding some terrific food thanks to his suggestions. highly recommended guest house as can see from all the recommendations. .most enjoyable.

Very clean guesthouse with lovely owner”
I was very happy and satisfied with my stay at Honolulu guesthouse. It is very clean, the bedrooms are big with A/C, fan and mosquito nets at the windows. What's really amazing here is the owner's, Aboo, hospitality. Even before getting your passport details, he shows you everything on a map and explains what to see and how to move around. He helped me arranging the bus to my next destination and literally walk me till the bus stop to help me catching the correct one. His family is lovely as well. Breakfast is very good, either Continental or Indian style. the guesthouse is located 10 minutes walk or a very short autorickshaw drive from Fort Kochin center, and one hour taxi from Kochin airport.

A central place in Fort Cochin, clean place and Warm atmosphere”
A central place in Fort Cochin - all within a short walk of the hotel. The place is very clean and tidy. Very good and varied breakfast. The rooms are all air conditioned if you want air conditioning. The owner helps visitors and guides them throughout. Clean, comfortable and friendly hosts”
The stay at honolulu was very nice. Mr Aboo was very friendly and willing to help. He provided us with information on what to see and helped us to book our back water tour. The room was clean, with hot water at all times and the air conditioner functioned very well. The sheets and room were clean and wifi was easily accessible. A very enjoyable stay!

Lovely Homestay ”
The house is about 10 minutes walk away from the main areas (fishing nets, restaurants). The room is basic with TV and en suite (hot shower). The room we had was very noisy, it shounds like someone is pouring water from a great height outside your room from 5 - 6 each morning which woke us up. The bed was too hard for us. The host and family were brilliant and so helpful. The breakfast was lovely, omelette, toast, tea and a bottle of water.

Peace and quiet in the centre of things.”
We arrived a day early by accident and they found us a room. When we moved into our real one the day after it was large and lovely with an expansive balcony. The staff were friendly and obliging, everything was very clean and tidy (and I don't just mean 'for India') and when there are any difficulties or confusion (as there invariably are in India) the staff are very helpful. It's quiet here too although a short walk from everything. Thoroughly recommended.

Overbooked and changed our booking ”
The receptionist told us that they overbooked so he switched us to a non-AC room on the third floor that he just finished building. The room smelled of fresh paint and was nauseating. The windows did not have screens so mosquitoes were plentiful. We closed the windows but the room got stuffy. The ceiling fan was nice but the mattress was hard as a board. The bathroom at least had hot water. Breakfast was terrible. They only serve the flattest omelette you can ever get. The WiFi was pretty fast though. I would not recommend this place.

Worst stay ever”
This place has the most disgusting smell, and unfortunately I got very serious sick when staying there. Doctors and insurance from Denmark contacted owner in the homestay, and they were treated so badly. First he lied and told them that I was not staying in this place. He had no idea who I was, he said. Big lie. This is a small place, and I was the only Dane staying there. They called again later, and he told the Danish doctor that I had went out for a party and was perfectly fine. Big lie! At the same time I was very sick in my room unconscious and needed urgent medical attention. So really better stay away from this place! Or enjoy the smell and bad manners of owner.

Thanks for your response. but we are sure that it is not Tom who has given this review, its his sister who was continuously troubling us asking for his situation.. each time she calls up, we go and check his condition and it was under our pressure he agreed to visit the doctor. He have undergone a thorough checkup and was nothing bad with his health.. the only problem was that he was using excess alchohol. lot a many time, i had forced him to have his food on time and I had arranged a full-time vehicle for his hospital visit and for his food. Tom even apologized us for his sisters behaviour. Tom was treating me as his elder brother and we had discussed a lot about his family and other wereabouts. anywheres happy to know that you have reached home safe...
Don't feel homely”
It's a house with multiple rooms given to multiple people with a common living space. This is a 2 floor house with the host staying in the ground floor. 5 rooms in the 1st floor and 3 in the 2nd. In terms of welcoming it was good since we had to check in early due to logistical reasons. The rooms are small and you will be confined to it with no entertainment options unless you would just like to sleep. Outside food is not allowed in the room nor in the living area. They suggest us to have it in the dining area where others will be staring at you. They have a kitchen though but cannot cook basic items like tea or coffee. Overall since we were travelling with a 4 year old we would have preferred a hotel than this.

Stay was good. The location was good. Room was clean although there was no ventilation in the washroom. Since this was a home stay, we were excited for home-cooked meal (free breakfast was included), however, the owner refused.

Sneaky manager, average economic guest house”
We checkin late at night. The sneaky manager took half an hour to register us for the room, taking time to look at every pages in our passport. Hot water didn't work one day. The internet works well but someone turns off the switch all the time so you need to turn it on or ask them to do it. The breakfast was a plain omelet with white break for 70 rupees. I wish the Manager would have told us the cost of the breakfast. He waited for our early departure, with the backpack ready to go, to claim the money.

acceuillant et propre”
homestay trés bien située à fort Cochin (un peu éloigné de la circulation et tout ce fait facilement à pied). les propriétaires sont acceuillants et trés serviables (Il nous avez reservé un taxi et était présent lors de notre départ à 3h du mat!!), prét à fournir de nombreuses explications sans forcer la main. Les chambres sont propres et la notre bénéficiait d'un petit balcon fort agréable.

Sehr nette Familie eines tollen Homestays”
Das Honululu ist ein toller Homestay mit einer sehr netten Familie. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber, jedoch nur basic eingerichtet. Das Homestay liegt ungefähr 10 Gehminuten vom Zentrum entfernt. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist der etwas überzogene Preis.
