good staff, good price, convenient and accessible”

accessibility, attentive and good English for the staff, nicely designed

Hostel 64 Osaka is easily accessible from the Nishinagahori station, which is around 4-5 stations away from Osaka castle. The staff speaks good English and are very attentive--they were able to attend to our requests. They also recommend restaurants you can eat within the area of the hostel. We went there during the rainy season and we appreciated that they had a lot of umbrellas that they can lend to the guests. Rooms are nicely designed. It really is a mix of modern and traditional designs. Even the shower room was nice. We did wish that there was an elevator since we stayed at the 3rd floor and we had a lot of luggages. Also we were hoping that the shower room had a bigger door--you had to really bend to get inside. While I have no qualms about it, my older companions were a bit uneasy. All in all, I would recommend Hostel 64 Osaka. It's worth your bucks.

        Great hostel with great staff”

Cool building in a great part of town

Hostel 64 is located in a newly renovated building close to downtown Osaka. The staff are friendly and very helpful (best I've come across in my travels), rooms are clean and nice as are the facilities and the main bar/lounge area. The hostel has a great location, close to the main shopping strips of Osaka but surrounding neighbourhood is definitely worth checking out, very hip and funky, a different side to Osaka that would be easy to miss otherwise. Bikes available for rental (great way to get around in Osaka). A shout out too to Audrey's 'Gilotine' bar which are just down the street from Hostel 64, great place for a late-night drink and some food.

Gorgeous hotel, spacious, clean, comfy, fun”

        spacious, cool, excellent service

Hostel 64 Osaka is a gorgeous little design hostel. We were staying in a double room so it really felt more like a hotel apart from the share bathroom (which was excellent and very cool. The staff were extremely friendly and the common areas are comfy and have a great vibe. Facilities such as the laundry were excellent and all instructions very clear. We ate breakfast up on their rooftop each morning which was fun. They even have a massage chair which is worth the 200yen! Our bedroom had heaps of space and even an extra bed for our 6 month old. We had a little trouble finding it initially so make sure you are clear about where you are going once leaving the station but it was an easy walk into the centre once we had located it. We loved Hostel 64!

Good location, Cozy lobby & Friendly staffs

Hotel 64 Osaka is located 5 mins away from Awaza subway station. you can walk to Shinsaibashi or Namba for 20 mins. There're lots of interesting art books, design magazines and Osaka guide books at the lobby area. All the staffs can speak English very well and they're happy to help to plan your route. Standard Japanese Style can be little bit uncomfortable for somebody didn't used to sit down/sleep on the Tatami floor. You have to share the bathroom and shower room. Hope I can stay here again next time.

        Chic. Cozy. Clean.

I feel that artists would feel right at home here. The place is a mish-mash of styles tthat gave off a cool vibe that just worked. It was hip and strangely relaxing at the same time. Just be prepared taking the stairs. It'll take the wind right out of you. Great exercise though. Places where introverts like me could find a quiet place to recharge and find inspiration after a long day of being around other people for too long. I fell in love with a local cafe thanks to them. The double room I stayed in was very spartan and only had the bare necessities, just what you'd expect in a hostel, but still had an artistic feel to it. At first, I found it weird that they provide you with earplugs, but those came in handy soon enough when you're trying to sleep and the people in the other rooms are just coming back and not bothering to be quiet... Or when a girl in the next room was having an emotional breakdown. I also loved the bathroom on the 3rd floor! I found it oddly charming. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke fluent English. The girls at the reception were part of what made my trip less lonely. They were always up for a nice chat... All in all, this place is highly recommended and I would book my nights here again the next time I visit Osaka.

        great place to stay!”

clean, quiet neighborhood but good location

Hostel 64 Osaka is a great place to stay if you are on a tight budget. The bed is comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, and the bathroom and shower are spotless. However, please note that the dormitory is co-ed. I was not aware of this when I first checked in, and was startled when a drunk guy stumbled downstairs three beds next to me. Then I realised the dormity was made up of mostly guys. Would've been helpful to know that in advance!

Great place (or museum) to understand Japan and the surrounding community”

I had a very unforgettable experience there. It is not only a guesthouse but a museum for one to understand more about Japan, like a shower machine and message chair provided; a book about Japan in everyone's bed as well as a bookshelf including a lot of them especially archives that were published long time ago (say 1964). They have a map to recommend good food nearby, and they published a map guide in Osaka. The guesthouse is 15-minute walk to Shinsaibashi but the location itself is already a great community to explore, with Utsubo Park and Nakanoshima Park to enjoy relax afternoon with coffee and even beer! Bicycle with 200yen a day is also a great opportunity to travel in the city with a relaxed lifestyle. If you want me to point out something needed to improve, maybe it is the dormitory located on the ground floor without much sunlight. But on the whole, I have comfortable nights in the guesthouse. And thanks to all the staff contributed to a lot of great memories to every traveller!

        Excellent place in amazing Osaka”

ideal price/quality ratio in Osaka city

Great location and excellent facilities for this hotel, ideally located downtown. Ideal for a short stay in Osaka to discover this amazing city during the day and / or the night. Room is large, bed is good, reception is kind and very reactive, especially by email to perfectly prepare your stay. good english communication to note, what is not the case elsewhere in Japan, even in some (famous) Hotel Chain. We really enjoyed that stay at Hostel.

Shared bathroom hostel with far location ”

        Clean & big comfortable room

The hostel 15-20 mins away from subway station. It's not easy for traveller if you carry marry luggage from subway station to the hostel. Mostly station didn't provide escalator exit to street. Therefore, it's not convenient if stay at a fat location hostel like Hostel 64 Osaka. Secondly, the bathroom is sharing. Luckily there has 2 floors of shower room available. Hence, we able to shower if the floor you stay was fully occupied. Not recommend if you looking for a good location place. However, staff can speak very fluent English & very friendly. Carry luggage for us when she check out. Clean & big room & wifi provided.

        Nice Experience”

Nice Japanese Style w/Tatami Bed, Relatively big room when compare with economy hotel

we've sent an email to hostel for late check-in before we heading to japan. by the day we arrived, it was much later than we expected. later we found out that the receptionist has sent us email, leaving as contact and guidance in case we got lost. she has been very helpful! the hostel itself is very clean and specially design. it has both modern design as well as traditional japanese style design. their guest room is relatively big when compare to other economy hotel with only tiny space. however, the wall is very thin. hence, it would be quite annoying if you got a noisy neighborhood. (luckily, this happened only the night before we check-out).

        Chic hostel”

Friendly staff and a good location for backpackers.

I would definitely recommend Hostel 64 Osaka to my friends and family. There is a common area for travellers do some reading and chatting. The hostel provided loads of books especially culture, design and lifestyle. The staff there speak English well, and they are really helpful. The most interesting part of this hostel is that there are three different washrooms. You can use the shower chair on the 1st floor, and I would suggest you to try them all out. Enjoy! :)

        Awesome trip stay in Osaka”

Nice design and staff, very good experience!

Hotel is clean and staff is nice and friendly! The staff there can speak simple English, so is ok for chatting with them! This buliding is an old buliding, however, they redesign the whole buliding into a new Japenese style hotel, thats was what the staff told me!I think its really good to experience that, if you are really want to experience this kind of hotel, more comfortable and relax, not like the hotel in main namba! Its just a bit far from tour spot, take subway and walk 5 mins can be arrival. Here also can rent a bike to have a tour in Osaka city, highly recommend! If you are the one dont like dormitory, u can choose other room type!酒店很乾淨,服務員很友善,設計很棒,離市中心三站,不用擔心很遠,不過最好可以跟他們要到地圖比較好找!

        Upscale hostel ”

        clean, unique, private

This hostel is on a quiet street but just a five minute walk from a station. The hostel was clean, quiet and well put together. Breakfast was worth the 400 yen. We had trouble getting our room warm enough but otherwise it was a great stay. I would recommend this hostel!

        Cozy hostel”

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and tidy, close to subway and walking distance to shopping district

This hostel has a hip and unique character, mixed with Japanese and Western, retro and modern styles. Friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Staff are English-speaking and were helpful. No elevators so you must carry your baggages up and down the stairs. Rooms and bathroom facilities are clean, but are not very sound proof so must keep noise level down at night. We had a comfortable stay and would recommend this place for young or solo travellers.

        Comfortable”

Easy access to a subway station, close to several sightseeing spots, and the friendly atmosphere of this hostel.

The staff was very helpful and the lounge area of the hostel was a great place to decompress after a day of sightseeing. It was also a good way to meet other travellers. The hostel has shared toilets and showers (as it is explicitly stated on their website) but I did not have a problem with this. I did not experience having to wait to use the toilet or shower (there is one toilet and shower on each of the 4 floors). The room was small and was just enough to fit the two futons laid out side by side. If you have a LOT of luggage, this might be a problem, as there is not much space to put the bags. But, one roller luggage per person in a twin room is ok. The light in the room is dim -- in keeping with the homey feel, with the tatami flooring and all -- so if you're the type to write in your journal or study maps of your next forays, you'd have to do it in the lounge, which is a comfy place to be.
