Location is very good. Advice from front desk is excellent Bike rental is convenient. Entrance to the shower on 3rd floor is ludicrous. Water was Luke warm. We suggest a roster for shower time and limits. Wifi in great order. Taking luggage to any floor is an adventure. Would stay again 👑👑👑👑👑
Within 10 mins walk from nearby subway stations. Convenient shops around. The common rooms look comfortable though I don't have time to spend there. Room is neat and resemble traditional Japanese room beautifully, which cannot be told from the room outside inside the building. Again, NO escalator, but the hostel staff was helpful in moving my luggage up with me. And I hope there is tissue and hand soap at places where we have hand wash.
This hostel has a hip and unique character, mixed with Japanese and Western, retro and modern styles. Friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Staff are English-speaking and were helpful. No elevators so you must carry your baggages up and down the stairs. Rooms and bathroom facilities are clean, but are not very sound proof so must keep noise level down at night. We had a comfortable stay and would recommend this place for young or solo travellers.
The staff was very helpful and the lounge area of the hostel was a great place to decompress after a day of sightseeing. It was also a good way to meet other travellers. The hostel has shared toilets and showers (as it is explicitly stated on their website) but I did not have a problem with this. I did not experience having to wait to use the toilet or shower (there is one toilet and shower on each of the 4 floors). The room was small and was just enough to fit the two futons laid out side by side. If you have a LOT of luggage, this might be a problem, as there is not much space to put the bags. But, one roller luggage per person in a twin room is ok. The light in the room is dim -- in keeping with the homey feel, with the tatami flooring and all -- so if you're the type to write in your journal or study maps of your next forays, you'd have to do it in the lounge, which is a comfy place to be.
Cozy hostel and nice stuff.”
Traveling without plan and the stuff gave us very nice advice to a chic local shopping street and fantastic curry! It was very nice stay with yummy breakfast and cozy space. Yet the light in the dorm could be brighter.
I've already aimed for this hotel since the beginning, and waiting for the price to be cheaper is worth it. We got the biggest room at 3rd floor, and they gave us some Japanese snacks as compliment. The only downside is, they don't have elevator, so if you have a big luggage, it's kind of a hassle.
Share shower room. Great staff. No elevator ”
The location is about 10 min walk from train station. Small 4 storey building. The staff are very helpful. If you have big baggage would be a challenge because there's no elevator. Also wall are very this you can hear other room talk and quite noisy.
Great place (or museum) to understand Japan and the surrounding community”
I had a very unforgettable experience there. It is not only a guesthouse but a museum for one to understand more about Japan, like a shower machine and message chair provided; a book about Japan in everyone's bed as well as a bookshelf including a lot of them especially archives that were published long time ago (say 1964). They have a map to recommend good food nearby, and they published a map guide in Osaka. The guesthouse is 15-minute walk to Shinsaibashi but the location itself is already a great community to explore, with Utsubo Park and Nakanoshima Park to enjoy relax afternoon with coffee and even beer! Bicycle with 200yen a day is also a great opportunity to travel in the city with a relaxed lifestyle. If you want me to point out something needed to improve, maybe it is the dormitory located on the ground floor without much sunlight. But on the whole, I have comfortable nights in the guesthouse. And thanks to all the staff contributed to a lot of great memories to every traveller!
Love the funky and modern design of the hostel! Book a private room and it was spacious and cosy. Staff could speak english and were friendly as well. However, the soundproofing of the rooms were not ideal as loud footsteps and chatting can be heard from outside of my room and from other rooms. Other than that, would come back here again!
Superb Comfort. Professional Attitude.”
The Staff was very professional & even though this hostel doesn't have the friendly vibe of guests hanging out together, the establishment runs it very well. The beds are extremely comfortable & the layout is amazing of the Hostel. I enjoyed my time in the sitdown shower room. What was also great is that the common areas do not get closed after a certain time & that there is no curfew. I personally loved this place & would not think twice before staying here again or recommending it to another traveler.
Your friendly hipster hotel. ”
I feel that artists would feel right at home here. The place is a mish-mash of styles tthat gave off a cool vibe that just worked. It was hip and strangely relaxing at the same time. Just be prepared taking the stairs. It'll take the wind right out of you. Great exercise though. When you check in on your first day, they will provide you with a city map that shows some of the trendy places to be in Osaka. .. Places where introverts like me could find a quiet place to recharge and find inspiration after a long day of being around other people for too long. I fell in love with a local cafe thanks to them. The double room I stayed in was very spartan and only had the bare necessities, just what you'd expect in a hostel, but still had an artistic feel to it. At first, I found it weird that they provide you with earplugs, but those came in handy soon enough when you're trying to sleep and the people in the other rooms are just coming back and not bothering to be quiet... Or when a girl in the next room was having an emotional breakdown. I also loved the bathroom on the 3rd floor! I found it oddly charming. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke fluent English. The girls at the reception were part of what made my trip less lonely. They were always up for a nice chat... All in all, this place is highly recommended and I would book my nights here again the next time I visit Osaka.
Upscale hostel ”
This hostel is on a quiet street but just a five minute walk from a station. The hostel was clean, quiet and well put together. Breakfast was worth the 400 yen. We had trouble getting our room warm enough but otherwise it was a great stay. I would recommend this hostel!
Perfect hostel for tourist. Staff turn off the light in room around 8-9pm. Hostel provide bicycle for rent 300bath a day. Japanese beer 100bath/bottle. No breakfast but you can get a variety of food in minimart nearby hostel. ps.
hostel 64 was just what i was looking for!!”
i was looking for a no-fuss, relaxed and easily accessible hostel and found the perfect fit! hostel 64 is perfect for people who want to explore osaka like a local. the map they provide of the surrounding neighborhood leads to hidden gems that tourists might not be able to find as easily. the staff are accommodatig with late/early checkins and checkouts. they rent out well-equipped bicycles to facilitate your exploringing of the beautiful city as well! hostel 64 would be my home away from home next time i'm in osaka!
So retro, so japanese and so cute.”
The design and decoration is totally to my liking. Everything is so details and with a sense of art. We stayed at the tatami room to experience Japanese culture. Nice room and it's quite spacious. The staffs speak English quite well and they are very helpful. Locationwise, it's 2 stations away from the lively city center so the surrounding here is quiet. Not so many eating place but convenient stores are just around the corner. Wifi was pretty bad when we were here. And there is no elevator.
Helpful Staffs & Clean + Neat + Comfy Rooms”
It was a great experience staying in this hostel, staffs are being really helpful and friendly. No communication problem at all in English. They're always being warm and concern to each of the travelers who have their stay there.
ideal choice for backpackers ”
When first arrived, it's kind of hard to find the place as it is located in quite a hidden spot on the street but in fact it is just 5-minute walk from the train station. Staff are nice and are able to speak fluent English. The price is reasonable with quite comfortable double bed which would be a perfect choice for backpackers. But be reminded there are no formal rooms and there are only curtains for the separation of beds. For those having privacy concerns shall be careful with this. Though you may have to carry your baggage up to the counter and down to your bed without a lift, staff are more than welcome to offer any assistance.
Good Place to stay and friendly stuff”
Nice place to stay with friends, but there is no wi-fi network connection in your room, only available in the lobby, so that's fine, I love this hostle, tidy room, friendly stuff, good location (walk in 5mins from station), even we was locked in our room (the door is broken XDD), but I still love this hostle, see ya next time ;)
good staff, good price, convenient and accessible”
Hostel 64 Osaka is easily accessible from the Nishinagahori station, which is around 4-5 stations away from Osaka castle. The staff speaks good English and are very attentive--they were able to attend to our requests. They also recommend restaurants you can eat within the area of the hostel. We went there during the rainy season and we appreciated that they had a lot of umbrellas that they can lend to the guests. Rooms are nicely designed. It really is a mix of modern and traditional designs. Even the shower room was nice. We did wish that there was an elevator since we stayed at the 3rd floor and we had a lot of luggages. Also we were hoping that the shower room had a bigger door--you had to really bend to get inside. While I have no qualms about it, my older companions were a bit uneasy. All in all, I would recommend Hostel 64 Osaka. It's worth your bucks.
helpful staff and comfortable design for guests”
We were extremely pleased with Hostel 64 Osaka. We felt great vibes with the design of the place and . The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful-they helped us book baseball tickets and they also chased us down the street to give us a pair of shorts we had accidentally left the day we checked out. They also supply you with free detergent if you need to do laundry :-) Many thanks to Hostel 64 Osaka! We had an excellent experience in Osaka because of you!
